I’ve heard good things about Stargate Universe so far, but I’m still nervous about tonight’s premiere. SG-1 and Atlantis are two of my favorite shows of all time and I’m afraid that this new series is something different than those two. From what I’ve seen, it’s taking a very Battlestar Galactica-look, which might not be a bad thing for Universe, but it just doesn’t feel like Stargate to me.
The two previous series were might have been dry at times, but the overall story is by far the most complex and complete in the sci-fi genre. Hopefully the story and character development hasn’t been sacrificed for a more edgy show. We’ll see tonight.
The show will be shown in Stargate’s usual Friday night 9:00 PM slot on SYFY, with an encore at 11:00 PM. Thankfully SYFY HD is up and running so the show will be available immediately in HD unlike Atlantis’s first couple seasons where US fans had to wait until it was picked up by Universal HD to see the show in high-def. Let’s just hope the show lives up to the hype.
Does anyone know if this will end up on Hulu?
It should. It’s NBC and the other Stargate series are on there.

Hopefully, you’ll be “caressed” in record time. If you don’t like the franchise, don’t watch. I can’t stand people that want something to go away, just because they don’t like it…

Need more commercials. Not nearly enough or frequent enough and definately not long enough.
Need to jerk the camerias around more from lots more angles.

Does anyone know if they stay on board the ship for the series or do they get off at some planet. They definitely need my brainiacs that resemble Dr. Wier, Dr daniel jackson and Samatha Carter. Not them but the type that can step up to the plate and kick ass.

I’m a huge fan of the Stargate franchise having watched all the SG-1 episodes multiple times and every SGA episode. I wanted to like SGU, but it tried too hard to be dark like BSG instead of focusing on story or characters. The 2-hour series premiere was completely unnecessary and could have been cut to an hour thirty or an hour. The trailer does have a very different feel to SG1 and Atlantis, but I’m still excited about it. I was sceptical of Atlantis initially but ended up loving it.
I don’t think I deserve to be called a Stargate fan any more though – I had no idea this show existed!
As an owner of all five season DVDs of Atlantis, I was left with just one question after watching SGU. They cancelled Atlantis for this? With any successful series one must care about the characters and about what happens to them. I couldn’t care less about what happens to any of the characters on SGU. I am not blaming the actors, as they can only do as well as the script allows, and it didn’t allow very much. I realize all series take awhile to “find themselves.” However, while it may eventyually be successful, SGU has a very long way to go to accomplish this. First Impression grade: D
I was disgusted to see that they chose to use the episode to demonize CO2, apparently in support of the globalist’s CO2 and Climate Change money-making agenda of the carbon tax, carbon credits trading, and the sale of carbon offsets.
When the ship’s life-support system is failing, there’s no mention of oxygen depletion, or the buildup of nitrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, or any number of other poisonous gasses–it’s all about CO2 buildup, which wouldn’t even be a danger, the oxygen depletion killing everyone long before their exhalation of CO2 could get CO2 anywhere near a dangerous level.
It’s the same when they check the atmosphere on the new planet–no mention of the oxygen level or any number of possible poisonous gasses, it’s all about “CO2 is at a low enough level.”
They should be concerned that there is enough CO2 to sustain plant life so they can grow the seeds they have with them.
CO2 is a life-giving gas, not a life-taking gas.
It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. If they continue with this propaganda, I won’t be able to enjoy the series.

JESUS people, get UNIVERSE off the channel before you loose everyone who was ever loyal to you. Learn to know what SUCKS means. Star Gate Universe SUCKS….totally….completely…in every imaginable way…technically, writing, story, cast, directing, NOTHING is good. In a word…it SUCKS….

no one cared to think about what they were doing.

I liked SG1, I liked SGA, I definitely HATE SGU! Were in the world did they get such bad writers! Everything about this show is bad: from bad acting, bad character development, bad camera work and just overall bad show! Destiny is suppose to be a massive ship and yet it feels so claustrophobic watching this show. I’m annoyed for wasting so much time watching this awful show!

Many oh man, I really tried to watch this crap fest. I enjoyed the original movie. I am a big fan of the original series and the Atlantis spin-off. However, I hated the Battlestar crap. This is right there.
Maybe its me, but I have a hard time with any premise where stranded humans are shown to be small, silly and petty. For god’s sake, people work together to survive. More humans are better than less humans. Trust should not be the issue.
Lastly, I almost threw up when the idiot has sex with his wife in someone else’s body. First of all, he should have shot that slut for considering it. This thing cannot end soon enough. Where’s Doctor Who when you need him.
Yep SGU is no good.
It’s obviously cheaper to make because they spend so much time on interpersonal drama. Drama … is FREE.
It’s not SCI-FI however.
Just stop watching it folks, and get your friends to stop watching it. If we’re lucky they’ll can this garbage by the end of season.
