Rumor has it that the Pixi is dropping on October 20, just in time for pre-holidays sales. Not much more on pricing or availability but expect it on Sprint.

BGR notes that Best Buy will also be carrying the phone and brings up an interesting point:

The question is, with the original Palm Pre, iPhone 3GS already out and the Motorola CLIQ, BlackBerry Storm 2 and Bold 9700 coming soon, does anyone care?

  • I think Palm has completely failed. They created a good phone with great OS and offered it with 8gb of ram. Do they know there is a 32GB iPhone?

Instead of new versions, how about making the first competitive?

  • I think this is the hottest phone coming out. I’ve had sprint data for awhile and it seems to be faster than wifi on any Iphone I’ve ever used, so I don’t see the issue of the pixi not having wifi. This phone seems to be a sleeker, more durable Pre, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it

  • If that keyboard is as bad (or worse) than the keyboard on the Pre, it’s doomed. As nice as the new Palm OS is, their hardware just isn’t going to get people to give up their Blackberrys.

  • While I really liked the the Pre, one of the things I hated about it was the actual size and the keyboard. The keyboard was so bad, it was such a pain to type on. The pixi’s size is a little better but looks like that keyboard is back. Not a fan of the keyboard. http://ZiggyTek.com/

  • If its anything like the centro’s keyboard, it’ll be great, and it looks like it is. The pre’s keyboard was cut down for the slider, that was a bummer.

  • I actually have massive hands, but I also have dexterity. I suppose it might be hard for someone with an ape like brain to control their fingers.
