Seeing as how all of our readers are avid motorcycle enthusiasts who can drop ten grand for the latest crotch rocket, here’s Ducati’s latest street machine. If you are one of those lucky few, how about purchasing a fleet and donating it to your favorite tech blog?

Advertised as “The new way to go hyper”, the Hypermotard 796 is Ducati’s newest model. The focus seems to be directed more toward making this bike not as ridiculously expensive as for the average consumer and commuter. Not to say that it can’t keep up with the rest of the pack. Weighing in at 368 lbs, the engine will still pull 81 horsepower and 55.7 ft·lbs of torque.

The 796 comes in a complete matte-black, a matte-white tank with matte-black frame, or the traditional Ducati red and black color scheme. No official word on pricing yet, but you can take it from us, it’ll be under 10,000 USD. Look for this marvel of Italian engineering at any Ducati dealer come November 2009.

Or for less than half the price, you could get your own powered robotic exoskeleton. Your call.

  • An interesting name choice to be sure. lol

  • Umm…it’s a supermoto bike.

  • Doesn’t even compare to MV Agusta Brutale.

Ducatis are nice but have become so “commonplace” these days. At least riding an MV you dont see yourself coming down the road in the other direction.

    • 1) This is just a smaller version of a bike with the same name that’s been out for a while. The Ducati Hypermotard 1100.

      2) @DigDug – Atleast Ducati isn’t owned by Harley like MV.

    • Dig Dug.

Your right you cant compare the Motard with the Brutale. I had a Brutale & it was way too small for me, It depreciated quicker than a pair of used undercrackers & the dealer network & parts were nigh on impossible to source.
You can however compare the Streetfighter with the Brutale & it beats it hands down.
The Motard is in a completely different niche market to the Brutale.

      • You must have banged up that MV for it to depreciate? MVs are renowned for high resale values. I dont know how you think the SF beats the Brute “hands down,” in 2009 the Brut 1078 and SF 1098 had essentially identical HP, torque and performance specs.

And, dont forget, the SF (I believe debuted in 2008) is widely regarded as a rip-off of the Brute design/segment/concept which has been around a lot longer.

But go ahead, keep your Duc, as I said they are nice – and you see a bunch every day (unlike an MV).

        • Thanks for your comment. I had a 910r in black/red. It was immaculate & the value of it dropped like a stone.
I disagree with your comment of seeing them everyday, The Fighter is quite exclusive & not many are around.748,etc etc are common due to the numbers made.
My friend have an F4 & has had no problems, but i feel they now need to change the design , its too long in the tooth.
I bought mine to ride so i,m not really arsed who looks at it or takes pics.

  • Forget about resale value. All those Harley guys always are touting their resale value. Bikes are made to be ridden, so buy what you like, and then ride it until is worn out.

  • WOW, you have an MV. So f**king what. Oooohhhh, I’m part of a small group of people that buy a bike for the way it gets attention at a gas station. I ride what i ride for the way it RIDES, not for the attention it gets at gas stations. I have enough self esteem already, i’ll leave you the gas station groupies…
