At this rate, you and your garage band could be starring in the next Rock Band-like game! (That’s actually not a bad idea. Some sort of service wherein you upload your band’s songs, and a little while later out pops a file that works in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.) Famous band U2 recently told USA Today that, sure, it would love to be in a video game of its own one day. It’s probably too late now, seeing as though, years from now, The Beatles: Rock Band will be viewed as the apex of these music games.
The band’s bassist, Adam Clayton, said:
We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted. That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn’t want to be caricatured.
If the control freak Beatles can agree to a game, there’s no reason why U2 can’t agree to a game.
Also, War > Joshua Tree. Just sayin’.

I don’t know if that was sarcasm or not but check out:

There you go, garage bands can pump there tunes into rock band.
Achtung Baby > War > Joshua Tree
No. We do not need another stand alone band game. U2 doesn’t understand this market and this their ego talking.
It looks to me as though they thought that bringing this up in the press would create a vocal demand for a U2 game by fans and players of this genre but they seem to be wrong. From what I’ve read around the ‘net most players are against this U2 game idea.
Even the Beatles game, which is beautiful, wasn’t such a great idea. Switching discs to have to play one band is a pain… and playing only one band’s music is boring. Imagine having to switch Ipods just to listen to a specific band. It’s a lot like that plus it also splits up the online player base (multiplayer is a big part of these games).
Hopefully they’ll get over themselves and allow their music to be catalogued next to other great bands like The Who, Queen, Pearl Jam, Rush and many more.
It’s ok to have generic avatars playing your music. Really, it is.
