If you’ve been waiting to upgrade, now you’re ready to rock. A new app, blackra1n, will jailbreak any 3.1.2 iPhone or iPod Touch.
Interestingly, this is a Windows-only release (download it here), just like his previous opus, purplera1n). Also N.B this jailbreak will break your unlocked iPhone so be wary.
So, what is blackra1n? blackra1n is a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak. Even the ipt3, but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n. As far as donations go, they are much appreciated, but not until after blackra1n works for you. I never ask for donations before the tool is released.
Warning 3g and 3gs unlockers, do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings. Also blackra1n doesn’t hacktivate.
Also, the secret word for today is FORDS. Just thought you might like to know.

I’d be wary you 8gb ipod touch 3rd gen owners. I’ve tried this JB program and yes it is simple, but I cannot get my ipod to boot up in the process. I had to restore my ipod, and lose all my damn music in the process. :( if you were successful please let me know
How did you lose all of your music? It should still be on your computer since the ipod isn’t supposed to be your primary source to store music, and should have synced back on…
i just unninstall itunes then reinstall and blackra1n started to work.
Blackra1n, did not jailbreak my ipod touch man!
I try 3-4 times to jailbreak it the ipod power off never turn on again! I have to retore with itune again and again.
i have 3gs 32gb comes with operating system 3.0 it had been jailbreacked and unlocked with ultrasn0w and accedently it upgrade to os 3.1
i am stucked now it only works with incoming carrier swisscom.(baseband upgraded)
do i have to upgrade to os 3.1.2 or do i have to wait for another unlocker my operating system is window,

even my friends Iphone doesnt jailbreak with this it goes to the apple default itunes thing and just hangs, whats happening, or what am I doing wrong
i don’t think you are doing anything wrong gf ! i followed the simple steps and same for me it hangs after opening the itune app… then u’ll have to restore it ! i hope blackra1n will fix this soon…otherwise no donations :)
youre not doing it wrong. i jailbroke like three ipods today and my friend wanted me to do her phone. hers was on 3.0 and it didnt work so then i tried 3.1.2 since thats what the iod were on and it still didn’t work. i also tried purplera1n and that didnt work either.
im not sure what going on but hopefully they can fix that cause its a pain lol.
it works. disable all itunes/apple applications on your pc after u do the 3.1.2 update. reboot your phone once. put phone in airplane mode.
after it works, go to cydia and do update. then search for afc2add in cydia apps. install this and winterboard, iphonebrowser, etc will work!
ok it worked …
set iphone to airplane mode
close all itunes apps
start blackra1n … then close any itune that will popup.
close blackra1n while it says entering recovery mode
reopen blackra1n…and now it says running and then complete wait for reboot…then i saw the light :)) thanks now a donation is in order ;) great job blackra1n
