Lest you think Microsoft isn’t serious about Windows 7, get this: on November 8th the company will be sponsoring a big commercial-free Family Guy special on Fox.
According to AdAge.com, “The Microsoft-sponsored variety show, whose working title is ‘Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show,’ is a mix of live-action ‘Family Guy’ musical performances, animated shorts and celebrity guest appearances, and is part of an all-Seth MacFarlane night on Fox.”
The special is being produced as a collaboration between Microsoft, MacFarlane, popular ad-agency Crispin, Porter & Bogusky (Microsoft’s Windows 7 campaign, Burger King, Domino’s, Best Buy, Coke Zero, etc.), and Universal McCann.
It’s not quite clear how Windows 7 will work its way into the show, but according to Microsoft ad exec Gayle Troberman, “You’ll see us deeply integrated into the content… We’ll be evoking the cast of ‘Family Guy’ in some interesting ways that integrate the product messages.”

Hmm. Associating with Family Guy isn’t exactly endearing me to Microsoft. That show is just awful.
You’re awful!
SHAZAAM!
Sundays already are Seth McFarlane night on Fox
Family guy is a terrific show, but this is live action Seth and Alex with some cartoons mixed in… this has the smell of epic failure written all over it and a good portion of it will be the cheesy and contrived M$ product integration skits.
It’s sad to see Seth selling out… again.
This “M$” crap never gets old, I mean the more I see it the funnier it gets. Really, what does it even mean? A company that’s selling their products for $, how dare they, unheard of business model.
Oh the sheeple never ceases to amaze me.
THATS AWESOME I LOVE FAMILY GUY!!!!!!!!!!
Crispin, Porter and Bogusky. The geniuses behind the goddamned Burger King King ads and the Bill Gates & Jerry Seinfeld shoe-manipulating commercials?
Why do people give money to idiots?
Family guy used to be funny, but honestly, I find the latest two seasons just plain stupid. Main reason is because they are becoming far too preachy.
Almost every episode now has Brian preaching (You know its happening when suddenly all the humor and even the pace of the story stops and the camera zooms in on Brian just so he can talk for 1-5 minutes about something, typically with an angry face) about how he feels about marijuana, politics, the president, the war, tv, religion, large corporations, scientific research, FOX themselves, his own show, other shows, etc etc. Typically when a recent episode sucks, its because of this and that they spent far too much time trying to preach a message than to actually be entertaining.
The pure and absolute irony of all this is that in one of his earlier GOOD episodes, he slammed people who try to actually preach messages on tv shows meant for entertainment.
Hell, I can even see what the closing gag will be a mile away now, it used to be unpredictable, which added to the humor, not anymore.
All I have to say, is that im glad The Simpsons are still around, they are finally starting to become funny again this season.
This isn’t that odd for us in the UK, the BBC is commercial free although we’re forced to pay even if we don’t want to watch the communist rubbish they drive down everyones necks.
