See that right there? That’s a Wii peripheral. If not for the blaze orange tip, one might mistake it for an MP5 submachine gun. Spotted at a Hong Kong trade show by Pocket-lint, it’s “a 1:1 scale Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun for the Wii.”

The plan is to eventually sell this in the U.S., although a price hasn’t been set. You can bet it’s going to be a pretty penny, though, as the gun features a built-in Wiimote, Nunchuck, MotionPlus sensor, rechargeable battery (via USB), speaker, and rumble support.

Part of me thinks that this newest crop of Wii peripherals (like the bike from yesterday) is just a test to see how much consumers are willing to spend on elaborate game controllers. I can’t wait for the first peripheral to come out that costs more than that Wii itself. That’ll be a sad and wonderful day. Probably mostly sad.

  • That is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too small to be a 1:1 MP5. The handgrip is way too small, and the forgrip looks to be only an inch or two away from the short short mag. Also, look at the front of the sight. It’s as long as the outer barrel. Looks more like a fifth of the size of a real MP5. /nitpick (Or maybe H&K just shrunk their MP5s? Damn those british and german bastards!)
Obviously, it is not 1:1, but whatever, it’s still pretty badass.

  • Brendan: This looks to be a 1:1 of an MP5K-PDW (Personal Defense Weapon). And, from the ringed front sight to the turret rear, it’s actually really accurate. The only two discrepancies I can find are the lack of an ambi safety, and the retractable stock slides into the body, where on the real one the retractable stock (if it has one) would retract via two rails, one on each side of the receiver. Retracting into the receiver wouldn’t be possible, since that’s where the bolt and such are.

  • I’m sure the kids are going to love that.

  • This Wii gun would be perfect for the Call of Duty and medal of Honor games. And the support for Motion Plus and rumble is a nice feature that most current guns don’t have.
