Just like the rumor stated, Apple refreshed the Mac mini lineup today. The smallest Macs now sport faster 2.26GHz or 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo CPUs, 2 or 4 GB of RAM, and either 160 or 320 HDD. There is also a $999 1TB option but you must forgo the optical drive. Apple must be paying attention too because OS X server is now an official option. Prices are still the same as the previous options with the base model starting out at $599.
Here’s the rundown.
The $599 Mac Mini
- 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo
- 2GB of RAM
- 160GB HDD
- GeForce 9400M
- 8X SuperDrive
The $799 Mac Mini
- 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo
- 4GB of RAM
- 320 GB HDD
- GeForce 9400M

The $999 Mac Mini

Can you actually use dual monitors (dual DVI outputs) w/ these now?
It looks exactly like the g4 mac mini i bought almost 5 years ago.
Your headline scared me when I saw it. I thought you were going to say that Apple was choosing to do away with the line.
Question: What are the typical times of year that Apple announces this stuff? I’m planning on buying a new mini after the first of the year, but don’t know if I should wait for the next big announcement.
Whats the difference between OSX and OSX Server. What does Server have that regular OSX doesn’t?
