Really, really big news today for World of Warcraft players. Today’s the day that Zygor’s leveling guide hits version 2.0. Leveling guides are used by players to hit level 80 (or, soon, 85) as quickly as possible so they can more quickly enjoy the endgame content. Think of them like GameFAQs or the old school Brady Games or Versus Books strategy guides.
I’ve used a handful of guides over the years, and I’ve liked Zygor’s the best. Granted, I’ve never hit 80 yet on any of my characters—my latest alt is a level 49 Blood Elf Warlock—so what do I know, but the Zygor guides were pretty handy for automatically updating quest objectives as you moved along. Handy map markers, detailed directions, etc. It’s a fine guide. A bit pricey at $60 for Horde or Alliance (they’re sold separately, I’m afraid) but if you’re committed to dinging 80 then it’s not a bad investment.
So what’s new in version 2.0? Well, judging by the Web site (I haven’t grabbed the new version yet since the Internet connection at the TechCrunch office in New York is hot garbage, and I don’t have the game installed on my laptop)
• It’s updated to include content (quests and the like) up to patch 3.2.2a (the most recent one, of course)
• There’s some sort of new UI that’s customizable
• A talent advisor. Sort of, “what talent build should I use when I’m grinding/when I’m running an instance?” etc. (Not sure if that’s a pre-order bonus or not)
• Totally complies with Blizzard’s add-on rules. It’s just a leveling guide, no different than Quest Helper or anything!
I think that’s it. Like I said, I can’t try it out till I get home late tonight, and that’s provided the Web site comes back online so I can download it in the first place!
I’m pretty excited, I have to admit. I want to ding 80 before Christmas, which should be easy enough (again, level 49 right now) but my play schedule is pretty wacky.
Yes, WoW is more or less the reason I get out of bed in the morning. Sad but true!
I thought people couldn’t charge for add-ons any more for WoW… how’d they get around that?
I think they are selling a “physical guide” as well so maybe that is their way around it?
You should check out Jame’s Leveling guide. May or may not be as good as Zygor’s but it’s free and works fairly well.
You’re so lame that you haven’t gotten a single character to 80, but you feel the need to review a guide?

Well, just because he hasn’t gotten a character to 80 yet doesn’t mean anything. You guys should lay off him. He’s just happy that he’s found something that will help him level up quicker than before and you should encourage that. (or he’s advertising)

I can’t believe that now Crunch Gear is advertising for WoW Leveling guys. Next you’ll tell us that we should buy wow gold for cheap to help you ding to 80.

I have used this guide and if you want to get to 80 fast in wow then it really helps!
Sure there is free guides out there and the like but you have to install plenty of add-ons.
Also you DO NOT need this guide to play the game, correct – but does it help?

I have eight lvl 80’s and it’s very easy. The key is to level several characters so you’ll always be in the rested bonus anytime you’re playing. It gives twice the experience for killing monsters which drastically cuts down you’re playing time overall.
The best skills for passive income are alchemy transmutation master for the epic gems, and tailoring for cloth making.
Also enchanting is good at high levels, buy lvl 73+ weps for less than the price of a greater cosmic and you’ll proc two of them often enough to make a profit.
To really level fast just go with the most destructive spec of your character. When you hit 80 you can always buy gear or do Wintergrasp weeklies to get a full epic set easily.
Make 2 or 3 characters, only play in rested bonus or you’ll grind way too much and end up with just one character you’ll get bored with.
