Halloween is coming up and if there’s one thing I know it’s that geeks love Halloween. The opportunity to hide behind a mask, to subvert the status quo, and to dress up like sexy nurse/sexy witch/sexy balloon boy is a cause for celebration. That said, we’re offering one Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console to the winner of our First Annual CrunchGear Halloween Costume Contest.
Here’s how to enter.
Send a link to a picture of yourself or send a file of up to 200KB of you in your best geek Halloween costume to contest@crunchgear.com with the subject line “COSTUME CONTEST.” You can upload it to any service but please don’t bombard our mailbox with huge image files.
There are a few rules:
* You must be holding something with the word “CrunchGear” written on it. This is proof you didn’t raid some Halloween store’s website.
* The contest will run from today until noon Eastern November 1, 2009
* We will then choose ten runners up and then allow you to choose the winner via a method I will discuss on November 1. We will close the contest on November 10.
* The winner will receive their XBox after November 10, the release date of Modern Warfare 2.
Please have fun and be creative. Here’s some inspiration.

1st Annual?
Im pretty sure I was one of 5 that one the Penguin Wiimote charger last year for Halloween.
Weird.
hrm. i don’t remember now. Let’s CALL it the first annual.
We’re actually all replaced by new writers who just so happen to have the exact same names, once a year.
For us, this is the first annual.
last year was the first, this is the first annual, just like birthdays, the first annual is the year after the original event
Like the movie “Moon”. Got it.
Id much rather win this. Ill give it a shot.
spoiler warning!
Will special points be awarded for partial/full nudity and homemade costumes?
full nudity is a pretty weak costume. but you’ll be graded on awesomeness, and homemade can be pretty awesome.
You do realize Paul G is a dude??
what’s your point. full nudity is the easy way out. i mean i can go nude and guarantee i will get a citation, a huge fine but a lot of offers from dudes because i have tits etc…
we were discussing the benefits of the nude guy who wears the shower unit at a halloween party (you know the enclosed glass space) and my teacher said it was a no go unless you just wanted to get hammered at said party in solitude (pointless), because otherwise you are warding off the ladies and the people connection.
yeah …uhm…thats not original at all!!!
Do you have to live in the US to enter this? Cos i really want this :P
I haven’t heard otherwise from Microsoft so enter away.
Sexy Mustard!
i have to start working on my sexy arrington costume
Well begin!
HINT: Saran Wrap. Lot’s of it.
That vid was hilarious, I would check out more Nick’s commercials if I wasn’t so busy at work… >,>
This is like the many “t-shirt” giveaways… to date, I’ve never met a winner…
do you two to three million people? do you talk to them all daily?
This comment could really be taken two ways, are you saying that you haven’t met anyone that actually won the contests or are you suggesting that in these contests where we actually have to seen one another we are all the poorer for the experience?
If it is the former, hi I’m Riles it’s nice to meet you. I’ve won two Crunch contests (a dvd and microsd card respectively); although I did get hosed on the MusicSkins contest a while back, but I don’t think enough people entered.
If it is the latter, well you probably have a point there.
I’ll vouch for TC’s contests being legit – I won one of the Rosetta Stone subscriptions they were giving away a couple of months ago and those were worth a lot more than a single Xbox (10k then, 14k by the current pricing I believe). Granted it probably used up a large portion of my give away karma, but it was a pretty sweet prize!
What a friggin sweet prize! This should yield some hilarious entries and I’ll make sure to tweet about it on our blog.
So can we enter our kid (<1) into the contest with us receiving the prize for her?
I concede! I just saw this costume.
