Oh, PC. Your hijinx extend back so far that in those days, you had long hair! Apple wins again!
While this newest Apple ad (about which I am being paid millions to post) is entertaining in a sort of superficial, nudge-nudge amirite kind of way, I don’t think it’s really as compelling as most of the other ads, even as lacking in facts as those were. I guess these ads are so simple to make that they can afford to just run with every idea, no matter how vague or half-baked. In the end, I think all this one is going to do is pique viewers’ curiosity about Windows 7 — that is, if they haven’t already dismissed it out of hand.
And does anybody think it’s a little weird that Mac doesn’t change his look over the last 20 years of OSes there? I used System 7 for a long time and buddy, it is not the same shirt and jeans as OS X.

Very funny, trust me.
lol okay Coldewey, way to ignore the fact that this is obviously playing of Walt Mossberg’s decline in professional ability and objectivity. (and likely mental health).
2007 Moss: Vista is “Microsoft’s Best Operating System”
2009 Moss: Windows 7 is “Microsoft’s Best Operating System” and replaces the loathed pole of puke that was Vista.
2011 Moss: Windows 8 is “Microsoft’s Greatest Operating System” and replaces the bag of hurt that was Windows 7.
Apple should run with another into the future ad and put the nail in the collin.
O and you’re absolutely right Coldewey. This does semi-advertise for W7, but all of the ads put the important of idea of switching to mac and avoiding the pain and suffering that has so long been associated with M$ and it’s knock off, stolen OS.
Ignoring the facts in favor of the past. Hmm, sounds like a trolling fanboy to me.
Funny how everyone who has been using Windows 7 since RC has had nothing but good things to say about it. All Windows in the past have failed at the start, Windows 7 hasn’t. Apple isn’t the only company that can create something that doesn’t fail from the get-go. Microsoft finally got it right. Don’t take their word for it, take the word of the users. You have to be living in your own little world to, at this point, think that 7 is going to be like Vista, XP, ME, 2000, etc etc etc. They finally got it right, the RC was proof of that. Bash on something that actually makes a valid argument. “oh well! …uh… AND! hmm… WELL VISTA AND XP SUCKED! LOL”. <-That is honest to god the only thing that this commercial just said.
Well whatever comes after Vista is going to be better. They got million of people beta testing W7 to avoid maybe another epic failure. Switch to Mac and avoid the pain once and for all, trust me !.
lol you enjoy ignoring facts.
Here’s the most important four
1. The Registry is still there and it rots overtime.
2. Underlying code is still virus and malware prone.
3. It’s not safe for online banking and shopping.
4. It’s slower than XP and Vista (especially booting up).
Fact of the matter is, Vista had plenty of good hype from testers leading up to it’s launch as well (with Woss being the head cheerleader for Vista and 7) and Vista turned out to be a bag of hurt for everyone involved.
Do yourself a favor and at least switch to Linux.
Actually, Win2K was an outstanding operating system, because they finally moved off the DOS platform.
95, 98, ME, XP, Vista, yeah, trash, every one of them. I’m skeptically interested in W7, but since I finally stripped all the garbage out of XP and made it into what MS is touting W7 to be, I’m not in a hurry to migrate.
So you’re saying that when Apple releases an OS it’s not necessarily better than it’s predecessors? I mean, why else wouldn’t it be considered their “best OS”.
iDon’t Mac
you must enjoy S&M
OMG you’re witty! I’m glad you made your opinion known! A++++!!!
Butthurt Mac fanboy?
Anyone’s opinion that differs from yours must be wrong.
Apple Commercial Fail.
The commercial would have been great for Vista or… well, any Windows OS before 7. But Windows 7 IS awesome. You don’t even have to listen to Microsoft at all, just listen to the people who have been using RC since it was released.
Are their heads so far up their asses that they think Windows 7 will be just like all the other Windows when even the RC alone is proof that its not heading in that direction at all what-so-ever and that its honestly nothing but win?
On the other hand, this commercial is nothing but a compliment to Microsoft. They couldn’t find anything on Windows 7 so they had to start bashing on the older Windows OS’s. That’s a bit sad and childish. Although, their commercials have always been a bit sad and childish, haven’t they?
Looking forward to see Apple eat their own words. This commercial should have never even aired. It’s about as valid or logical as creationism.
LMAO. Major fail by Joshua. A pig in makeup is still a pig. Relabeling Vista as Windows 7 and throwing a new UI on top doesn’t change what’s underneath.
Windows 7 is just as flawed as Vista and every other Windows OS. Yes, Microsoft made it a little more usable by essentially (and finally) ripping off the OSX interface.
But you’ve still got a registry that rots over time, a slower boot time compared to Vista and XP, and it’s still a virus and malware prone OS.
Dude stop F***ing trolling
you don’t need to comment on every single comment if it has anything good to say about Wins 7
Yes, he does, because otherwise he struggles to justify paying 3x the price for the same hardware, now that Mac has Intel Inside.
So wiz,
I guess you don’t know tech.
The great thing about windows 7 that seperates it from xp and vista is the whole reason its called windows 7.
Its build on a WHOLE NEW KERNEL now a redesigned on but a new one. Also they restructured the registry so the system is much less susceptible to viruses and malware. The other thing is mac is also virus prone but the market isn’t large enough to create that many mac viruses. Don’t worry. Once mac gets larger the virus issues will start up with them too.
Trust me I’m a programmer.
Even Mac fans are getting tired of these lame Apple Ads…
They’re tried and true.
Wiz, don’t you have anything to do other than trolling CG? You know, like a job or a love life…never mind I already know the answer.
Wiz,
Try being at least somewhat original at least in your own name. Your comments are so superficial its embarrassing to read.
Nice job Devin getting the worms out of the woodwork.
it’s a living…
Overall, I like the commercials, but this one is kinda lame.
The thing I like most about Windows 7 is that it replaces Vista. Unfortunately, it still looks and acts a lot like a tweaked clone of Vista. (boo)
I installed it in about 15 minutes from an ISO with Parallels 4 on a Macbook Pro and gave the VM 1GB of RAM. It seemed to work just fine on just a single core of the 2.4GHz processor as well.
Next step is to install the Key Management Service on one of my Win2K3 servers so I can activate some corporate machines with the new OS.
Does anyone else have to get machines with this OS up and running in an enterprise environment?
LAME! Just get an iDon’t.
Show me a person who does NOT think the Mac character is an Apple douchebag, and I’ll show you an Apple douchebag.
The new Apple ad is genius, and right on target. As a long-time PC technician, I have installed (and re-installed) every Microsoft OS since 3.1(1992), and they all have the same opening dialog crap (during install) on how ‘the new windows is better, safer, faster, blah blah blah…” With the possible exception of XP, it’s been a downhill slide for decades…just more bloated gobbledygook. So, am confident I will continue to make a living off of Microsoft’s long established incompetence. I see no reason for that to change. Why would any of you non-professionals see a reason?
Blah….I still don’t get what all the fuss is about. Vista 64-bit runs like a dream for me and I’ve never had a virus in all my years using MS. I’m not an apple hater by any means (I love my 3G S!) But I just can’t get behind Macs for two major reasons. First and foremost, I’m a PC gamer and Apple has little/nothing to offer me in that department. Secondly, I can’t see fit spending thousands of dollars on a Mac when I could build a pc myself with the same components for a fraction of the cost.
Same here… Theirs nothing Apple offers that the Windows 7 I am running will make me change my mind. Haven’t even had a BSOD.
Though, still haven’t seen the new Ads. only one I actually saw was the one with viruses and spyware.
I had to chuckle a bit. I remember our old Macs getting viruses. The only cure we had was format and reinstall. Which will be typical on a Mac if you get a virus… or spyware. Nothing there to remove it, so it will be a ever present reminder…
Other than that, WIndows 7 Pro works awesome. Its smoother than Vista, and boots quicker :D under a minute. Which is good enough. Btw, how many people actually… turn off… their Windows Machines?
If Mac OS is so perfect, why do they bother releasing new versions? Unless of course … hmmmm
I love MAC and would be happy to purchase one; as soon they come back down to reality for the price. Until then I will be sticking with them crappy Windows Machines. :-)
Big James
I still learned absolutely nothing about macs from this commercial….
