The guys at OWLE, which we covered in July, have taken their device (OWLE Bubo), and shot some video of the grand opening of the Microsoft Store in Scottsdale, Arizona. They even got a couple of seconds of face time with Microsoft COO Kevin Turner. You can find the video below.

Microsoft fanboys exist? Shocking…
nice, but i already saw it when it was called the apple store.
That apple store has a weird logo.
As much as I like Windows.
This….. this is just pathetic. They didn’t even TRY, they just plain old copied Apple down to every detail.
I was hoping there would be something unique about their store, but nope, its just basically an Apple store selling Microsoft products.
This was a well done video…Thanks.
What struck me is how all the Microsoft users seemed like real, down to earth, genuine people…as for the employees, they seemed well trained and smart. And I was surprised to see two Apple geeks in there showing that moving forward the line between OS’s is being blurred. After looking at this, I must say these stores offer a lot more than Apple stores..certainly more choices, and obviously more fun. I think Apple will have to try to copy some of the elements here like massive gaming walls. Oops, forgot! They don’t do gaming very well. Love the Bing inspired photo panoramas. I do hope they put these in our mall next to the Apple store, I would spend a lot of time in there, and probably money too. There’s nothing to do in an Apple store that looks this fun. The colors give it a more festive appearance compared to the off white Apple monochrome look. Seriously, Microsoft did a good job on this. At least on day one, the stores seem like a brilliant move for a company that seems to be scoring a lot of hits lately.

You’re joking, right? Are all of the Borg this condescendingly arrogant? Pfft. I’m so glad I didn’t drink the kool-aid. Go Droid!
I fail to see why there are so many negative comments to the opening of these Microsoft stores. Apple and Microsoft are competitors, Apple stores were successful therefore the competition has made a store that surpasses the quality of the competitor. Competition like this is not only normal, but good for the market.
After watching this video I honestly believe the Microsoft stores blow Apple’s out of the water. Microsoft seems to have found equally helpful employees and packed the store full of more fun, useful devices then Apple has. I hope they are successful because if they grow Apple will be forced the improve their stores. What’s to complain about?
What’s not to complain about! First off, most Apple users I know do not consider Microsoft Apple’s competitor. Apple builds and sells it’s own computers, thankfully it’s own software also. It’s true competition would have to be all those unfortunate computer companies out there that have to use Microsoft as their OS. The only reason Microsoft is considered a competitor is because they are the only other viable mainstream operating system, which for years now has been trying it’s best to mimic Mac OS. Secondly, it’s getting quite pathetic that Microsoft blindly reaching for anything out there to keep it’s customers. Opening a store is one of the most perplexing things Microsoft has done lately! You can buy Microsoft products anywhere, without the hassle of those annoying sales associates. By the way, hopefully for Microsoft’s sake this pays off for them, since it is becoming apparent that more people are starting to see the light and are migrating to MACs, evident by the incredible increase in fourth quarter sales, primarily due to phone and COMPUTER sales.
“Microsoft fanboys exist? Shocking…”
Probably said in fun, but I suspect most Apple fans have there head so buried that they don’t see the 90% of all operating systems are not Apple.
“nice, but i already saw it when it was called the apple store…” Since when does Apple claim the rights to the idea of a store? I know it would not be unusual for Apple to claim these rights, in fact it would be standard operating procedure.
How many ways are there to display and sell software? Maybe you’d be happy if Microsoft had chose a “MadMen” theme and filled the stores with hard liquor, cigarettes and hookers…hey wait, that might just …

That will probably change when many people realize that the only way to get the new copy of OS x from Microsoft, I mean Windows 7 from Microsoft, is to buy a new computer.

Apple doesn’t claim the rights to retail stores, it’s just getting annoying that Microsoft can’t produce anything original, always something already seen!

Ah ha ha ha ha, funny, the way you “corrected” yourself by saying OSX then Windows, to imply that Windwos just copies OSX.
Oh wait, no, its not funny.
In fact, its downright retarded, ignorant, idiotic, and basically flat out proof that you know nothing about what you are talking about and are just a blind mac fanboy at their worst.
How pray tell is Windows 7 a copy of OSX? Just because it looks nice? You were expecting it to still look like Windows 98?
Also, you can buy copies of Windows 7 everywhere, I don’t even know where to BEGIN telling you what is wrong with claiming that you need a new computer.
Oh wait, I get it now, you are so utterly brainwashed by the “im a mac and im a pc” ads that you actually believed that “move to Mac” crap they put in their latest commercials.
“Apple doesn’t claim the rights to retail stores, it’s just getting annoying that Microsoft can’t produce anything original, always something already seen!”
Right, because The Surface is definitely not original, neither is Natal or Xbox Live or…. well, I could go on all day.
That’s too funny! I think they’ve been scouting the trendy-looking kids from the Apple store, just for the opening. It’s basically just a best buy or something, but with a cleaner design. interesting…
