Look at the AP, trying to stir up controversy where none exists. I’m sure by now you’ve seen the leaked Modern Warfare 2 footage (the video is down right now) that shows a terrorist situation inside an airport. The AP (and HuffPo) is making a big deal out of the fact that you can shoot civilians inside the airport. And? Are they trying to go with that weak argument, “Oh, violent video games make people violent”? How can people still believe that?
Let’s face facts: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest game of the year, no doubt. It actually pains me to write that, seeing as though I was sorta “meh” toward the first one. (I just don’t like modern warfare setting. How about an FPS that takes place during the American Civil War, or from inside the trenches of the Somme? Now that would be interesting.) As such, it’s not as if gamers are going to see this footage and say to themselves, “Well! This crosses a line! I’m now going to deny myself a genuinely fun gaming experience because the AP thinks it’s too violent!”
What probably will happen is some guy who’s a casual gamer at best will hear about all this controversy, then, as he’s doing his holiday shopping at Wal-Mart, sees the game and says, “Hey, that’s that terrorist game. Let me check that out.”
Bam, more money in Activision’s pocket.
Never mind that the game is rated (here in the U.S.) M, for players 17 and older. If you cannot distinguish between real life and video game silliness by age 17 then you probably have bigger problems.

Allow me to join you on your soup box…I’m tired of the media, governing bodies, etc. telling what I can and cannot enjoy…lest we forget that our freedoms are base on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All three check and balance each other out, being that if one violates the other then it’s not a “righteous” freedom…
Done :D
Also…who didn’t shoot the hostage at the end of CoDMW1? C’mon…you know you did, LOL!!!
Guilty.
HAHAHA! So true. I read so many articles about this subject from people going on and on about how they were not going to buy this game because its too violent, too realistic, and violent video games make violent people, that it was just making me sick! That is SO not true! People have been brutally murdering people since before anything even near a TV was invented, let alone video games! Grown , mature people have the ability to tell the difference between a game, and reality. that it was just making me sick! I am glad to have found some people that share my opinion.
Guilty! I so agree (btw the scene is not violent at all) when Gaz in the 1st Mw was like reaching up and said dont shoot and Imran Zahkaev blasted hes brain out in the most awful way… ISNT THAT violent??, and shooting some sivilians is like worse fuck that and fuck this. GIVE US THE GAME!!
The problem is that some needs to be blamed for violence. (This is where the sarcasm starts) Let’s face it, kids shoot kids because of video games, not because their parents don’t care about them enough to give them the time of day or because of other children at school making them feel like shit because of their life and personal choices that they make. Nope, people don’t make people feel terrible and want to shoot others….it’s video games. You got it!
(Sarcasm done) Seriously, we have more important problems at hand in this country than video games violence, but it’s harder to work on those, so let’s choose the easy target. The easy excuse is rarely the right one, but it makes stupid people sleep better at night because of the ignorance they live in. I will be enjoying the all out violence of Modern Warfare 2.
I think it’s obvious: if it weren’t for video games, terrorists would only harsly wag their fingers.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t we able to shoot up Civilians at the airport in the Die Hard Trilogy (back on PS1)?
In fact, weren’t there civilians on fire, running out of the airport, that you were SUPPOSED to shoot (for a “Mercy Kill”)?
Good times….
That’s awesome, that is exactly what I was coming to post about. I remember running over many of a pedestrian in Central Park with that cab too.
This was an active question on CNN not the game footage but “Where can we blame the violence on!” How about over crowding real discipline for our children how about real consequences for crimes.
Seriously people!
i know a site the still has the video on it if u would like 2 see it just send me a email and i’ll send u the site.
tell me the website
http://www.mapmodnews.com/article.php/Forced-kil-civilians-Modern-Warfare-2
Ok, when teh govenrment and even worse, the Presedent see this, videogames will be destroyed forever because these assholes decided to go too far.
I lost a loved one to terroist act and this is doing nothing but training people to go do these things for real.
Sorry for your loss Concerned Parent…
…but no one is forcing you to go buy this game. And you don’t have to go out and buy it for your kids either. This leaked video is getting WAY out of hand. If this footage was never leaked…no one would care. Ok maybe a few mentions of it here and there once people started playing it, but nothing like this.
And this game is not going to make people go out and become terroist or do anything crazy b/c of this game!! It’s funny…people who played video games were always put in that nerdy kids catagory or over weight lazy people with no life…and now we are going into terrorist trainning…!?
Sorry I have no time to deal with that…I’ll be too busy playing this game! :P
Humm…I seem to remember there being a whole lot of violence before video games ever came to be.
Do you thing Video games are responsible for the Holacost, Racisim, Slavery?
Sorry for your lose but you have to be an IDIOT if you think terroists would use this game as a guide to kill people, I belive they already have that down.
Also, aren’t they terrorists because of their “religious” beliefs? I highly doubt they’re gonna see this game and think: “Hey, this is so much fun I want to kill people now”
People like you are the reason Speedy Gonzalez and The Taco Bell Dog aren’t on TV anymore
I don’t know if you could really call Islam “religious” in the same sense that those worshiping Jesus and our lord are in having such a true moral compass.
shut the fuck up and go make a sandwich concerned parent.
People in christianty take religion way out of context just as much as Islam.
KKK anyone? stop trying to make your miserable lifes intresting by standing for something you know nothing about and just let us gamers be gamers.
you wont win, we are ignorant little fuckers.
when people think about terrorist we think of 9/11 but there we plenty of them before then yes sad day o well its over lots of people died becuase of some arab assholes. i kno personaly if i wanted to become a terrorist i wouldnt do via a video game. just like you dont train soldiers with a movie. you lost a loved one to a terrorist i’m sorry how about you talk to the millions of people who already have faced this and gotton over it. the goverment wont do anything cause its money in thier pockets when we buy it. so concerned parent i’m sorry but get over this hurdle and welcome back to life
@Concerned Parent.
I’m very sorry that you lost a loved in in a terrorist attack, but don’t point your emotion towards video game developers. That is just ignorant. You mean to tell me that you ACTUALLY believe people mimic actions in a video game? That means since I’ve been a dedicated Grand Theft Auto player, I MUST be a prostitute fucking, car stealing, police killing maniac, right?
And you say that these video games train people to perform REAL terrorist attacks. When was the last time you saw a Terrorist playing video games? If someone is going to perform such a hainus action, it will not be triggered by a video game.
All in all… Don’t be an idiot.
@concerned parent…i am too sorry that you lost a loved one to a terrorist act. But that terrorist did not act because of a video game. They do not sit around and train themselves with video games that portray war. They are using the real thing. If you are truly a “concerned parent” then dont buy your 12 year old a video game that is rated M for Mature for a reason.
There is a reason they have the ratings that they do. Because adults that are true hardcore gamers, know the difference between games and real life. Whereas, children dont. These parents that allow their preteen children to play these games are stupid.
Dont take your frustrations out on a game. Do something a little more productive with your words.
To both posters above:
For the simple fact that you choose to defend a videogame where one emulates the act of killing inoccent people in cold blood is beyond me.
Why not have a videgame where you emulate a rapist that breaks into people homes, tape up the entire family, brutily rape all the females and children while the father watch. But at least in that horrific scenario the people live, though they would wish they was dead. In this game, everyone just is killed at your hands.
And when its your grandmother who is shot in the head because she is at her place of worship by some radical terroist with a machine gun, do not go to the funaral, instead you go buy a fresh copy of Modern Warfare 2 and morn while savagly killing inocent people.
WOW!!! You have a fucked up head…. and your worried about us playing a game that is nothing new.
Ok Ok … im sorry that was a little rude. I do believe that the ratings are the main thing to pay attention to when it comes to these things. For lets just assume you are a parent that knows the difference between right and wrong… take yourself back to 14 15 or 16 years of age. Would you play a game like the one you described above and execute that plan in real life. People that do those things in real life do them for other reasons like jealousy, love, hate, greed, desparation, and because they are clinically crazy. Im sorry once again for the post above but these are some things to think about in regards to your previous post.
LOOk, Get over it!!! You are CRAZY!! IT IS A FRIKIN GAME FOR MATURE “That Means 17 and up” **”Concerned parent”**. SO QUIT WHINING ABOUT IT AND DO SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE PRODUCTIVE WITH YOUR LIFE BESIDES BLOG ABOUT A VIDEO GAME AS GOOD AS MW2!!
-YOU SHOULD SEEK MENTAL HELP!!
-YOU NEED IT!!
-DON’T WORRY ABOUT A GAME
-BARACK OBAMA IS IN THE GAME TOO!! LOL JK
YOU ARE AN UNDERCOVER CIA AGENT SPYING ON THE TERRORISTS!!!! CAN’T YOU PICK UP ON THAT?
**THE VIDEO CLIP IS USED OUT OF CONTEXT!!!!!**
-OVERALL, GET A LIFE, AND YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
cuz its fukd up and no one would buy it
That shit is just weird. If I want to see that kind of shit I can just watch lifetime or CSI or anything else that’s on tv. In other words, there are many, many other, and easier places to see that. Why are you picking on a video game that is rated mature?
I’m sorry concerned parent, but have you forgotten what has contributed to the bulk of modern warfare?
Terrorism.
Plain and simple.
By putting this mission in modern warfare 2, they are doing nothing more than making it as realistic as possible. Everyday you read about 100’s of people dying from terrorist attacks, via the internet, cnn, video websites, whatever.
So before you start bashing a VIDEO GAME, make sure you realize that its easier for your kids to look for a fucked up video online than it is for them to get their hands on this game.
and P.S. Islam is just as much a religion as Christianity. The terrorists that fight in the name of Islam could be considered not muslim, because they fight a war that hundreds of millions of other muslims do not condone. And not to mention, I’m pretty sure the Crusades, not to mention hundreds of years of religious intolerance by those of Catholic and Christian faith, would technically fall into the same category as the terrorists considering they were fought for the same reason! To force religion upon ppl who do not comply by the same beliefs. I myself am of Muslim ancestorship, and have dealt with religious intolerance firsthand. I think this game does justice to modern warfare, due to the fact that it depicts the same fucked up scenario we’ve been reading about, since ariel sharon massacred 69 palestinians in 1953
one acronym says it all: GTA
@Concerned Parent
…man your kids must have no fun. I’m glad all the atrtention the media was giving to TV and movies about violence has all shifted to video game simply b/c you in control on the character.
And I have yet to play the game yet, but I’m pretty sure the whole point of the game is going to be to hunt down and defeat the terrorists…sounds crazy, but I think that’s what they’re going for.
Anyway…DON”T BUY THE GAME! Keep your $60 in your pocket and just leave it alone. And the fist time someone goes and blows up a church and leaves a note saying they did it all b/c of Modern Warfare 2 you can come back here and say I told you so!…
…but don’t hold your breath ;)
Yeah, I don’t agree with the idea that games MAKE kids do stupid things. For one, those kids that go out shooting and beating people because they say they got it from a video game should not have been playing it in the first place. Just like someone above said, pay attention to the ratings. They are there for a reason. Plus, kids that do that may have more issues than not being able to distinguish fantasy from reality. Parents just don’t want to believe they can’t raise their children and don’t want to take responsibility.
Take the time and teach your kids the difference from life and video games and don’t buy them these games when you know damn well they shouldn’t be playing them.
I am so tired of responsibility being passed off on someone or something else because you are too scared to admit your faults. If everyone could take responsibilities for themselves and their action, my god what a different place the world would be.
Right on Peachy…video games have become a sort of baby sitter for some parents. Kids stay out of the parents hair…they stay silent for hours and everyone seems to be happy.
And the next time they’re at the store and the kid pulls Modern Warfare 2 off the shelf and asks if he can have it…mom says sure just…”just throw it in the bag!” I know so many parents that do this for their kids.
Dang video isn’t working, anyone seen the video to this yet?
http://www.newdgamez.com/#infinity-ward
So, in Call of Duty 5 you can choose whether POWs are shot or burned and nobody cares. But now there are civilians, and everybody’s crying.
@James…

Thanks man!
Umm, have we lost our minds? Taking video games into factor is enough but when u take a such a strict manor and blame video games for a lead for terrorists. Now I have seen much violence in countries all over the world. And all of it is created from aggression, or retaliation. Now for everybody to point fingers and say game developers are enhancing some kind of violence, u are crazy. For example look at GTA , do u know how long they have been civilizing, guns, drugs, and sex, and thats waaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond a first person war game. Yet i have never seen the media attack GTA with such a distinction. Plus, I have’ent gotten my hands on the game, but by the looks of it, it does’ent even look as if u need to kill the civilians. So maybe sometime, somewhere, if there is ever a terrorist attack due to a video game then fine, but until that happens, all u blaber mouth rumps find somthing better to fight about contact me.
i agree with all you guys i mean ‘ve played many others games that have activitites in it that could be classified as terroristic but i think all but one have never been linked to a violent crime. with gta its a take it as you go game. if you want to go around slaughtering people go right on ahead. but if you want to complete the missions the game takes a turn for the better. you still kill people but no as many as you runnin around and being in free mode. ok back to point. the terrorist activities in this game as stated before are for emotional purposes to show you what its like to be a terrorist. but the disclaimer at the begining helps out a little bit with telling you hey disturbing if you dont want to you dont have to
@ Concerned Parent,
True, we can’t blame videogames for kids being more violent, for terrorist acts, for senseless killings. However, the world has become a much more violent and disrespectful place than it was when I was growing up. When I was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s kids respected their elders. The other day I was on the elevator and kids that were no more than 11 or 12 were cursing and using profanity in front of senor citizen women. Can we blame this on videogames? No, not solely. I blame it on the media period. Videogames, movies, the internet, even the news. Have a different perspective? Well maybe you were raised in the 90’s when things began to get progressively worse, and to you, it’s the way of life. Tell you what, censorship is failing. People don’t respect each other and it starts with the kids. Some of you won’t have an idea until you have one of your own! I love COD and can’t wait to play it, I admit. But the lack of concern people have when it comes to censorship, whether it be movies, games, whatever is alarming.
I agree with you to a slim extent… the respect in kids has dramatically dropped, but when you was a kid didn’t you cus? Another thing to look at is the fact that the older generation isn’t growing up as a kid anymore. Some of the people don’t understand the world your kids are living in these days. Back in the day spin the bottle was considered extremely taboo… spin the bottle means nothing to kids now. Thats old worthless news. Kids version of spin the bottle these days are sending naked photos of each other via text messages. The world we are all living in has dramatically changed since the 70s 80s and 90s. Our world is evolving if you will and this is just another one of those phases that well look back at in the future and go “meh?”
If your worried now… think about whats to come in the future when we do have those rapist games like you described…
One more thing is that im sure on codmw2 your are not supposed to kill the civilians… it is simpily a way to bring a real life situation to the gamers. How many terrorist attacks do you see that don’t involve innocent people getting hurt. Im sure the reason the civilians are there are to create obstacles in order to take care of the terrorists.
This was not supposed to be directed to you Mr. Bacon.
@ Devon
No, I didn’t use curse words until I was in my late teens….and to teens nowadays, that sounds impossible. Why’s that? Censorship….in the late 90’s on cable networks they used the “N” word and no one directly died because of this. However, the more these words are allowed the more they are accepted in society. You hang with someone who smokes crack, when you don’t and by the tenth time you hang with them crack ain’t such a bad thing. Thank God for censorship, because if you didn’t have people fighting to preserve our values, we’d be in a even worst position today. That’s why kids would rather send naked pics of themselves Dev. It’s common, and censorship is being muzzled more and more because irresponsible people only care about enjoyment but are too immature to realize that, at times, enjoyment comes with a price!
@ Concerned Parent,
and you’re right about the brutal raping….why is that such a bad thing? I see all these kids in here getting pissed at you, but what you said was valid. Why not have rap victims in games? Right now your jaw drops from the thought, but if Modern Warfare 2 had a rape scene in it we’d be shocked until it happened in enough videogames. The word is called “decensitize”. And that’s why most of you lil’ hoodlums are jumping down Concerned Parents throat!
ok i know how some people are concerned but bacon let them talk the way they are dont call them lil’ hoodlums do you know how many games have presented violence or worse. Let kids have there parents buy this game thats (THERE CHOICE) no one elses. so wat if you play as a terriost it doesnt freakin mean you are one or you will ever be one. Oh and did any one else notice you have a choice to wether kill them or not and also it was a leaked video that means It was most likeley a tester that was a dumbass
And when some hell kids bent on hating the world get so gassed off this game to go into your local mall with AK 47s and start opening fire on you and your family, I am going to watch this on CNN and assume it is some of you here talking all this bullshit that got killed.
And this will happen on the day where you happen to be out with your dear mom and little sister, good ol dad and that nice little girlfriend you started dating.
Ou tof nowhere you will start to hear massive gunfire and dear mom head explodes and fragments of brain fall into your mouth.
You lay there playing dead hoping that the shooters skip you over, but they are shooting all people on the ground to make sure the job is done.
As you lay dormant, you get shot in the spine as you play possum hoping to live. In the aftermath, they massacare over 300 people in the mall and you are the lone survivor of your family, paralyzed for life from the neck down to live the rest of your days being abused by a cousin that really never liked you but feels forced to take care of you.
As you sit there in your own stool, watching TV, praising the new Activision Mordern Warefare 2 commercial, just enjoy knowing that a videogame company keep things so real that it did deliver the “life changing” experience you was looking for.
-Enjoy.
oh, and Kudos to Activision, Microsoft, and Sony for providing the training ground for Americas next Top Killers. I am sure your Satan points are up for this.
you know when i get this game in a couple of days time i cant wait to play it and kill lots of people however when im finished with it il mail it over to afghanistan so they can train up the milita u fucking moron
@concerned parent you must have a damn good cult that you attend it sounds like your quoting CNN and.or FOX word for word if you don’t agree with what the game does how bout you get up off of your ass and do something about it rather than try to argue with what people are buying and fooling yourself into thinking your actually helping your own cause. You aren’t changing anyones mind here go prove you care and step out into the real world and stop commenting on a blog about a game.
No offense, but that was a little over the top. You sound like you could go to one of these midnight sales and shoot up the store for selling the game. I understand the point you are trying to make, but come on. If you really think video games are training people to kill, you are sadly mistaken. People kill because they want to, they have the urge deep inside of them and it comes out. At least from those who can’t control their emotions and actions. These extremists are trained by others, not by video games. How many wars have their been before all of these video games? Take a history class and you might learn more from that on how to kill people than from this video game. I mean hell, there were articles on how the kids from Columbine constructed their plot, and you don’t think that is helping kids figure out how to make their fantasies a reality? If you want to stop people from getting ideas about how to put on these elaborate attacks you should seclude everyone from everything. Censor everything: the news, TV, radio, video games, movies, but do you really think that is going to stop people from killing?
People kill people, it’s happened since the beginning of time because no one can get along and respect other people’s beliefs. It’s either my way or nothing and I will kill you, right?
Censorship of material because of how it may affect a very small minority of mentally or emotionally damaged individuals, is unacceptable.
Should we ban all alcohol because some people may get behind the wheel when drunk?
Should we ban certain types of clothing because a sex offender may get aroused?
Seriously. Millions of kids and adults play violent games, watch violent movies and participate in sports with some form or another of violence, yet there are not epic proportions of mass murder throughout the world.
Violence has been with us since the dawn of human history. Far worse acts of violence have occurred before violent video games. Even before television.
Instead of wasting resources fighting an enemy that isn’t there, we should put more into addressing the problems of these deranged individuals and either getting them help, or lock them away so they aren’t a threat to the public.
Thank you. Exactly my feelings as well. Very well put.
Well i assume you are from The united states.
all those high school shootings in your country was caused by the fact that it was so easy for the children to get a hold of a weapon. So stop pointing fingers and start looking at your own government.
PS: I have nothing against the usa except for the way how the country handles with the weaponlaw.
Nothing is wrong with our weapon laws. It once again falls on bad parenting and responsibility. Blame everything and everyone else for something you could have controlled yourself. If you own a gun and have a kid, don’t let your kid know you even have the gun and make it damn near impossible for that kid to get a hold of it if he accidentally comes across it. Then hide it again.
It’s not hard to keep a gun from a kid, parents are just lazy and irresponsible sometimes.
Its not hard to buy a gun from some jerk who goes into a local Walmart in the south and sells them hand over fist to kids at the local middle school either.
ok your right its not hard to buy a gun. but what the fuck is up with at a local walmart in the south. do you just assume the most criminals are southern. if so then your whats wrong with this country. blaming your problems on other people, watching the new and beliving every word of it. next time cnn is on and its about some little kids who just so happened to have played mw2 and shot up a mall i will be watching thinking to myself hmm maybe there CONCERED PARENTS SHOULD HAVE READ THE FUCKING RATING ON THE GAME!!!!!!. thats what your missing out of this comment section the rating is everything
Germany has strick gun laws… they still have school shootings. In fact crytek has to move because they are banning violent video games.
why all the drama about a leaked video on a game. i own a video game store. the number of parents who let their kids play gta and 50 cent games or 187 ride or die is disturbing. the thing is even when pac-man first hit the streets it caught some flak. as long as there are people that can complain they will. and thats the jist of it. concerned parent get over it. it is a game intended for mature audiences. if your son billy cant play these games without the common sense to tell right from wrong then don’t let him play it. this is a free country with some censorship going on but just because the video shows innocent people dying “oh no stop production on the game” well guess what so does the news, cable tv and the bible. so go crawl under a rock where the retards belong.
You are a really fucked up person. Maybe they shouldve got your ass too. I play hella video games and would never think the fucked up shit you just wrote. Fuckin Phsyco
You’re a troll. If you aren’t actually a troll, that’s pretty pathetic. If you are actually a concerned parent, why aren’t you watching your kid you ignorant fuck? Your spending your time on here arguing on the internet, maybe go get a job. FUCKING TROLL.
I’m sorry concerned parent, but you forget there are places in the world, where kids, hell bent on hating the world, walk into their equivalent of a “local mall” and lay waste to everything in sight, I’m pretty sure they’ve never played CODMW2. Another thing, im gonna play the shit out of that mission, because back to the main point, it’s a fucking video game, boo hoo, blah blah blah, cry me a fuckin river and shut.
@Concerned Parent…sounds like you’ve really put some thought into this mall attack…sounds like you might be the one to snap and do the shooting long b4 anyone else here.
And after reading that it sounds like you’d enjoy seeing us shot up on the news at some mall…and we’re the crazy ones b/c we want to play a video game? …take a look in the mirror. If i’m worried about anyone buying this game it’s you! …showing up to a midnight release spraying down the crowds of kids…
Oh and putting this on Sony and Microsoft and Activision…wft?! You really are crazy…the same company that makes Guitar Hero for families to enjoy is also trainning terrorists?! Sounds liek your scared of the world and life outside your front door…i can’t believe you venture onto the internet! Maybe you should talk to someone…just not me!
What is disturbing is that you look farward to shooting innocent people in a realistic videogame and still expect the world to protect you from real life consequences.
Golf video games games are for people who may have or wnat to play golf. Basketball video games are for people who have or may want to play basketball.
There are still more than enough decent people here in America that will make sure the backlash of this is properly reprimanded.
And for every time you WILL play this game in front of a small child is every moment you will brainwash them into grabing the gun your father is hiding in the closet to go to school and commit a horrid act.
Like AIDS, none of you care or even belive it exists until the problem is at your door affecting either you or someone you love.
Any of you killing innocent people in a video game will not go to heaven.
So I should actually be proud that the devil has found a way to recruit new souls in such volumes.
Praise Jehovah and Jesus. And just like the good devil agent you are, look at how mad you are that I just praised God and his son. If your the Activison CEO and Owner, you don’t belive in the son so I guess their product will make most of you hate me for even saying it.
Point proven.
Well, I don’t hate you for saying that because I respect your beliefs, but you have sort of proven my point earlier. I also do believe terror is out there and thankfully I have not witnessed it first-hand, but I am not gonna go blaming these games if it does happen. This game does not spark a fire, it may add gasoline to those that already have a little terror fire in them, but each and every one of those that commit these school shootings or terror attacks would have done them anyway. With or without the game. Like we have all been saying before these games are a way out of accepting responsibility.
To say all that play this game are going to Hell is not very nice. I mean I think bought my ticket to Hell when I started listening to The Beatles. I mean, they were talking to Charles Manson through their music so I guess that makes them evil too right?
AH…i’m so glag religion got dragged into this. Ok here we go..
…I don’t believe in god. Sorry. That’s just how it goes. Since you like being graphic, this is how it goes. You die, the buy an expensive box, put you in it, bury you and you rot in the ground. The end. No devil…no god…no nothing. You live…you die…that’s it.
And now we are comparing this to AIDS?! I hope someone comes on here and rips you up for saying that! And i hope they’ve lost a love on just like you and make you feel like shit for bringing it up!
If your here to save us and bring jesus into our lives by not buying or playing the game, you came to the wrong place! You thinking im angry at you and that you’ve proven your point…sorry your wrong again. I just don’t like when people as ignorant as you make statements like this about something I really enjoy. I’m not outside your church telling people not to go b/c religion is a cause of people killing and dying…one of the first causes actually.
This game will be the best selling game ever! The hottest selling game for christmas! It will make the most money ever! It will be in more homes all over the world then you could imagine! Sorry you lose, game over. Eyeryone will enjoy it and have hours of fun and demand the next one to come out ASAP!
…Just stay away from my mall on release night ok ;)
So you trying to convince me I am wrong when you belive a man or some mysterious “force” can keep the Sun burning, not to disgard your beliefs but I will say that is strange to me.
Man did not create air, you can’t see that like you can’t see God but you do know the air is there right?
No I get it, 2 big rocks banged against eached other 2 billion years ago and now earth, humans and all the planets are all perfectly formed from that cosmic event.
Such BS (keeping the cussing down).
I believe sometimes that when we are at the end of days it could very well be revealed that these games were brainwash for our youth directly from Satan.
I know I’ll get backlash for saying this from you ignoramuses but modern video games may be his dark training ground, I couldn’t think of a better way for him to reach our youth. The bible is fact, has proven to be by generations of church scientists, and we know the day is coming. It must be a tool from the darkness to be used against us.
I hope you all enjoy being future Al Qaida soldiers and the devil’s minions. I’ll be on the side of our lord, vanquishing you all.
Ok, now I think you are just making this up to get people mad.
Another fake… as in True Lies “takin credit for our moves”.
church scientits. two completly different things. religion and science do not belive in one another. there are scientits that are religous but thats a differnt topic. now your church scientits go out in the desert lokking for old shit in a book. wow talk about boring.
Are you kidding me? Nobody in history has killed more people than religion. Its the cause of the wars we are fighting, countless genocides and mass murders. And you are worried about a video game? The only people going to hell are you religious nutjobs trying to spread your bs unto others. Tho shall keep thy religion to thyself…why don’t you go give your church more money, so they can keep themselves out of jail for molesting little kids. Where is your god when that happens.?
You’re A Douche.
Its a fucking game.
Calm you’re bad self.
And shut up.
Ive played games forever (:
and i dont kill no fools.
And MW2 is a peice of art.
Its beautiful.
And you need a life.
If you could just shut you’re face whilst im trying to complete this level,
i think i saw an innocent crawling away.
I have business to attend to…
And I’m catholic =D#
I still go to church weekly…
I just enjoy the finer things in life,
I’d prefer to shoot nameless CPU’s than play basketball or golf games,
I could play golf or basketball in real life,
I choose to play shoot em’ ups that actually shoot someone.
Can’t you see my logic?
And who’s to say that the people @ the airport are innocent?
Perhaps they aren’t.
Perhaps they were Terrorists/Rapists themselves,
And we just saved the actual innocents eh? eh?
Didnt think of that one did you…
What about Manhunt anyway.
Nobody mentioned this one…
Hey, I resent that statement. How dare you ridicule my thoughts by trying to confuse their intent?
I’ve been through some dark times and know what true pain is like. When I was at my rock bottom, hopelessly addicted to crack cocaine, the lord saved me. How dare I throw that back in his face?
Maybe you need to get back on the white stuff and loosen up!
Ok, you had a good run, now it’s just getting unbelievable.
fake poster guy!
to the fake “Concerned Parent” posting this, your a coward, I said what I wanted. Activison employess, stop using my handle!
The real Concerned Parent is not posting anything else below this line.
The reason I have such a fist up my ass and i spend my time arguing on the internet is because my parents never bought me videos games because the could never accept how flamboyantly gay i am. And i have since spent my time arguing for the lord to cover up for my true feelings.
I sympathize with Concerned Parent. This person has seen some very dark times and is an inspiration frankly.
Perhaps there is something about these violent games. I believe in the devil. Maybe this is how he is trying to control us all to do his bidding. Stranger things have happened; life on Earth for example?
Oh no he’s gotten to you! Don’t you see?! Concerned Parent IS THE DEVIL!!! Can you think of a better cover?! Using terrorists and violent video games as a scapegoat to lure you in!!! Stay away from the darkness!!!!!
Thank you DigiNinja. It is probably already too late for Jay.
anothe fake poster, would I really be such a coward?
DICK IN MY ASS PLEASE. thank you
Just an FYI…you can skip over the violent scenes in the game. SO..I guess if you choose to see them your going to hell and if you skip them your going to heaven. I’m def not skipping any violent scenes! Nor will 99% of other people who buy the game ;)
…At least I won’t be lonely! MuHaHaHaHa
I think Jay is just one of those guys that likes to stir up trouble.
Concerned Parent is one of god’s soldiers. Congrats for defeating your crack demon’s Concerned Parent! I’ve been there with the dark mistress that is crack and its not easy going.
Great…so you guys smoke crack and i’m playing a video game…and i’m the bad guy!
I don’t like to stir up trouble..ok maybe a little…but I wasn’t the one that said everyone who plays this game is going to hell!
Give it some time…i’m sure someone will make a video game where god tells you to do his dirty work and kill all those who sin and don’t believe and you guys will be playing for hours on end ;)
They have that. It’s called Left Behind: Eternal Forces.
You guys are all idiots. Get back to work. If you dont approve of the game, noones making you buy it. Dont buy it for your kids. I’m stoked for this games release. I’m taking a vacation day the day it’s released just so i can enjoy it without my girlfriend nagging at me.
Send me an invite on xbox live,
AGENT URiE
B/c of what I’ve seen posted here I have replased and I am back to doing crack. And I’m getting my kids the game. See everyone in hell!
…I’ll see you all at the MALL!! Lay down or get sprayd’ down!!!
Good lord.
I just watched an intelligent discussion on this scene spiral downwards into not only a “games-promote-violence” argument, but someone actually tying Satan into the creation of this video game.
Parent, I’m sorry for your loss, I really am, but your statements are just ridiculous. Infinity Ward did NOT create this scene to “train terrorists”; Moving a mouse or a control stick or what have you, and bringing that heavy gun to your shoulder, keeping your aim steady, and then firing and FEELING the recoil of the gun are two very different things. And this is coming from someone who has never even held something more dangerous than a BB gun.
Furthermore, all the scenes you depict are quite frankly more shocking and graphic than anything I had seen in the video of this scene. In fact, the only thing your visceral fantasies and the airport scene have in common are attempts to make the experience more personal for you; Infinity Ward got that done a little better than you did, and without trying to turn it into a religion war. In fact, I’m half-convinced you’re simply a poorly-disguised troll, but seeing as how I’ve typed this much, I might as well keep going.
If you really have such a problem with this game, please take it up with Infinity Ward or Activision, not those of us who are looking forward to what looks like a good sequel to the original Modern Warfare. Than you.
People kill people, no guns or video games that instigate to it. It’s a natural thing to kill, as animals we kill for territory, respect, a mate and lately, for fun. Kill or be killed (lliterally and figuratively.
I agree with Bill Oreilly on Fox News on this one; video games are eroding our youth’s morality. Such a wise man.
Dumb Troll
Hale to all the gamers who rightfully denounce the fears of those who fear the entertainment that their kids are exposed to because they don’t have the time to play those games (or watch those movies) with their kids.
If parents (who call themselves concerned) took the time to share the entertainment experience with their kids (you don’t have to like it) then they could also share the post experience with them to find out what their kids really think about what they just watched or played. A concerned parent might be surprised that their kid is way more hip the nature of the experience and its moral implications than they had feared and your kids might understand why that same experience bothered you so much because you would be talking from your experience of playing rather than your irrational fears of what that experience is “doing” to your kids.
Now on to MY fears which unfortunately are based in the statistics of civic participation by the demographic that games like Modern Warfare are targeted at.
I fear that the Fox News watching, Rush Limbaugh listening masses are way more vocal in the political arena than the gaming community commenting on this article. For while you are all correct in denouncing any connection between entertainment violence and real violence, you still are missing the reality of this situation. The conservative media will whip this up into a fear frenzy (the facts won’t matter) and that will get our legislators all hot and bothered (and afraid) and the next thing you know our freedom to buy and play these games will be shut down because the corporate publishers won’t go near it if it starts to cut into their profits (the hard core gaming community can’t support any of the large publishers on their own).
So the question is; can you turn your armchair anger into real civic responsibility and take on the angry mob that won’t give a damn about the facts and who will have the mass media on their side dousing the fire and feeding them with more irrational fears? I hope so or your choice to buy and play games like this will be taken away from you.
“I fear that the Fox News watching, Rush Limbaugh listening masses are way more vocal in the political arena than the gaming community commenting on this article.”
Uh… you do know that trying to censor violent media has been almost entirely a Democratic thing? Tipper Gore for the last 15-20 years? Hillary Clinton _and_ Barack Obama bashing hardcore gamers at every opportunity during their campaigns? Clinton sponsoring bill after bill trying to pile on more regulations on video game sales than any other media?
Good Point. I shouldn’t have singled out the far right wing media when this is a mainstream media phenomena. CNN will almost certainly join in the chorus of fear mongering and politicians of all ilk (with the possible exception of the libertarians’) will call for the heads of all the morally bankrupt individuals who choose to offer choices that they believe will catalyze the ‘evil’ within us all.
My point still stands that this group of the fearful, using their pop-psychology to justify their fears will continue to attempt to intact legislation to either censor these inconvenient forms of expression completely or at least restrict the access to forums that can be easily demonized. I only offer my comments to remind those posting to this forum to head the call and fight against the inevitable censorship that is sure to follow the publication of these inconvenient truths.
To nod to historical precedence and the late Frank Zappa’s efforts to stop Tipper Gore and her Parents Music Resource Center;
“The PMRC proposal is an ill-conceived piece of nonsense which fails to deliver any real benefits to children, infringes the civil liberties of people who are not children, and promises to keep the courts busy for years dealing with the interpretational and enforcemental problems inherent in the proposal’s design. It is my understanding that, in law, First Amendment issues are decided with a preference for the least restrictive alternative. In this context, the PMRC’s demands are the equivalent of treating dandruff by decapitation … The establishment of a rating system, voluntary or otherwise, opens the door to an endless parade of moral quality control programs based on things certain Christians do not like. What if the next bunch of Washington wives demands a large yellow “J” on all material written or performed by Jews, in order to save helpless children from exposure to concealed Zionist doctrine?”
-Frank Zappa, quote from 1985 Senate hearing on censorship, quote found at wikipedia.org, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Zappa
seriously parents should be checking there little ones for warning signs mentally if they cant tell the difference between real and not real then there is a serious issue, i think what one of the problem is , is that back when alot of “classic” gamers “REAL” gamers were growing up we had games that the visuals wernt like “omg it looks so real” growing up with super nintendo to sega, then to playstation 1, then to dreamcast , and then playstation 2, to xbox 360 there is a hugeeeeee difference in visual leap i mean if you cant spot out the difference then theres a problem. To many parents buy these systems for there kids and i mean kids, a good example of lousy parenting is my friends mom. Bought her 9 year old son a 360, games on the list gears of war, and im pretty sure grand theft auto, when im sitting at there house all i here is DIE DIE like get your son a wii , at least that way he isnt going to grow up and be violent fat and lazy i mean c’mon thats a horrible combination lol my main point is that its not the video games them selves that drive some gamers to the shit end of the stick its the gamer. Do they act out violence from the games or say ohhh coool look at all the blood? are they plotting stuff they have seen in games? are they playing a little to long? if you punish them for not being able to play for a week does it seem like he is going to hurt you? like seriously people ask your selves these questions if your a parent, and if you answered yes to them all you got a problem its not the video game its the user, and when they cry and complain that “THE VIDEO GAME MADE MY SON VIOLENT” all your doing is facing the fact that your in denial that you did some rather lame parenting lol
seriously so sick of parents complaining about this , same thing with the media next thing you notice they will say A VIDEO GAME murdered someone today
The sad part is they didn’t need to include this in the game. They went for the shock value and the “any news” is good news route.
The difference between CoD and other games such as GTA is that CoD has a sense of realism. Most other games are cartoonish or have an excessive amount of gore it’s laughable. CoD tries to somewhat simulate war — and a terrorist act. Why not just release CoD: Al Qaeda. But I guess if it’s okay for the movie industry to show brutal killings and terrorist acts why not a game.
What we need are stricter rules on letting kids get a hold of games like this. It should be the parents’ job but we all know what an epic fail that is.
true enough but im some cases kids always find a way to get certain games, older siblings , friends parents or even now alot of kids have xbox live which is direct payments off of the parents credit card
they really should change ways to get more adult orientated video games but how? what would a good answer to this be i remember they use to ID everyone to get games that were pretty heavy, i dont know where that went lol
This scene is in the game, as an interactive part of the game, entirely for the publicity. Just as Dante’s Inferno’s baby-killing achievement slows down int he news cycle, we get the mow-down-screaming-civilians bonus level.
As Activision and EA have grown, that’s become their primary PR M.O., cribbed right from Take2/Rockstar and GTA: knowing that games don’t have any provable negative effect of anybody, they can put whatever insane shit they want in their game and wait for MSM to take the bait and do all their marketing work for them.
It’s no coincidence that MW2 is on 41 percent of Christmas lists for 12-14-year-old boys. It’s not because this is part of a well-told story about good, evil and the blurred line between. It’s because you can kill people in fun and inventive new ways. MW2, Dante’s Inferno, GTA, Bayonetta, they’re all designed the same way: Take a situation that pushes the tolerance envelope, ask “Why not?”, and if the only answer is that MSM would get pissed, it’s in the game.
You haven’t seen much rape in games because the few times it’s popped up, it was in games that sold poorly – either because of its inclusion, or because it was a shitty game. And don’t forget that sex is a far bigger taboo in the US than violence.
It’s timing, too. There’s been a relative lull in mass shootings. Activision will shit bricks if some kid shoots up an airport terminal the day before this game comes out, because you know MSM will tie this in at the earliest possible opportunity.
Personally, this scene turned me off from the game. I don’t even care that it’s skippable. Watching people get massacred isn’t fun _for me_; doing it is even less so.
Fortunately, I still live some place where I have the _choice_ support this game if I wanted to. But I also don’t mind the MSM stirring this pot, because this is going to end up under at least a million Christmas trees, and I really don’t think parents have any fucking clue what’s in the game. They see a soldier with a gun on the cover and figure HOO-AH, MY BOY’S GONNA KILL HIM SOME BROWN PEOPLE. Which is fine, and which is why popping POWs in MW1 didn’t piss anyone off. They’re POWs, they should’ve known better, etc. and other excuses.
Sure I’ll get flamed for this but I think everyone that purchases this game should be documented, almost as they would for purchasing a firearm.
Then the Dept of Homeland Security can observe them and more effectively correlate their risky behavior. Then we’ll get our proof that video games spawn the devil’s work.
It’s becoming hard to find sympathy for someone who’s rapidly becoming as radical as the terrorists they say we’ll become.
You really do NOT know what you’re talking about, and you’re only making yourself look even more foolish. I’m not going to drag religion into this argument, because all the righteous fury in the world a good, logical argument does not make.
I can tell you right now, I’ve been playing every popular shooter game since Doom was made. I have a very mild temper, I’m quite social and outgoing, and a perfectly clean record, which is more than you yourself can boast. So, please, if you find some facts to back up your arguments any time soon, I’d love to hear them. Until then, please keep your close-minded bigotry in check.
@ concernedparent Jesus christ you must want to live in Nazi Germany how bout they monitor you for mental instability if a game gets to you so much. One other thing did you say “I know I’ll get flamed” either your a parent who spends far to much time on the computer if you know that phrase or you are a child trying to get a rise out of people.
My only curiosity is – what’s next to blame after video games?
Before all of our times, it was ‘jazz’ music that was corrupting morals. Then Rock. Then Hard Rock. Then Rap. Now Hip Hop.
In between those times, we had blame for (in no particular order) movies, television and violent toys. Now it’s video games turn.
It generally comes from an older generation not understanding the younger generation, seeing stories on the news and saying “this never happened in my day” and “we never had violent video games in my day” therefore “video games cause violence”. Correlation doesn’ t mean cause (and there is no correlation here, so below paragraph).
Never mind crime rates have declined in most of the western world over that time; what you didn’t have in your day was 24 hour news looking so badly for a story half the US ends up staring at a balloon for three hours.
I don’t understand rap (mysoginistic in the extreme), but I don’t see it as a cause of gang violence.
Anyway, my question is – when the types who are likely to look down on later generations grow up from the video game generation, what will they blame for violence and crime? Music has surely been done to death (pardon the pun); TV, movies, video games… What’s left to blame?
Reality is we’ve always had violence – even the old ‘blame the poor parents’ line doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. There is no identifiable precise cause and no simple solution. Searching for a simple ‘his fault/its fault’ causes more problems than it solves.
I got really tired of reading the same argument over and over from some people that are pretty ignorant.
First of all, if the game is rated M, it is the parents responsibility to deny their child access to that game. The ESRB has decided that you child under 17 should not play the game.
Secondly, if you do allow your kid access to a game judged to be to mature for their age, it is up to you as a parent to closely monitor your child’s interaction with the game. If he/she cannot deal with the violence and graphic scenes, don’t let them play it until they are a little more mature. It is am simple as that.
Parents need to take some responsibility for their children and stop blaming everything on the games.
Isn’t it funny how the same media outlets taking issue with MW2 could care less about the steady stream of gratuitous sex and violence pouring out of Hollywood week-by-week?
You never hear anyone in the media say that “modern” movies are turning our daughters into sluts, or our sons into evil, people-torturing psychopaths.
It’s not a matter of whether it’s improper to simulate a terrorist attack on an airport where the gamer can shoot civilians. This is purely the anti-war crowd going after a war-game.
If they really respect human life that much, then why…
You fill in the blank.
you know what you guys are right. this game looks really fun i think i will enjoy playing it. i’m sorry i said go to hell everyone. and my crack cocaine addiction is getting better i’ve moved on to black tar heroin.
this is what i would like to to hear feom concerned parent. maybe one day parent will realize whats acctaully happening in the world till then chow.

Are..are you serious? There is no direct correlation between violence and video games. Just as there was no direct correlation between violence and dissent and rock and roll. Good lord, get it together. Most of the U.S. population is Christian, and the majority of them have played video games in their lives.
And the whole idea of Christians being peace loving? Westboro Baptist Church? The Crusades? The Salem and European Witch Trials that went on for hundreds of years? The slaughtering of the Pagans? The Moors? The Muslims? How about the Holocaust? Honestly, you’re fooling yourself.
Anyone who reads their scripture literally can be a threat.
If you believe the same for kids playing video games, you’re an idiot, plain and simple.
your right more people have been killed because of what some people belive in.
@ the real Concerned Parent
okay dear, you’re taking this way too far. I respect your beliefs but I have been playing violent video games since I was 15, that’s only for years ago so in your eyes I may still be a child. However, I know the difference between right and wrong. I know it’s right to do something fun, like video gaming, to release stress and get away from real life. I know it’s wrong to then go out and reinact what I have played. Believe it or not most children do know the difference between right and wrong. I will admit that terrorist acts are slightly fewer in England and yes it’s less easy to buy a gun but I have many relatives who are American and are capable of not going out and shooting civilians after playing a game. I also think your statements about Satan using us as some sort of army is rediculous and actually quite rude and insensitive.
Oh and about the rape thing. Ever played FEAR 2? The situation is reversed as in you yourself are raped but it didn’t leave me mentally scarred or instill in me a want to be raped :/
ForReal?
I clearly havent got to that level yet.
I’ll have to complete that someday xD
MW2 is priority at the moment.
I have been playing violent video games since i was 12 and i have never watend to shoot any because of a video game. So shut up about it.
