Last year, Best Buy created what very well could have been the first contest ever where the winner gets a $1000 gift card and a chance to shop at 4:30 A.M. Well, it’s back for 2009 and it’s just as cool.
This year 25 winners not only gets the $1000 gift card, limo ride, early store admittance, but also an Insigna 2.3MP digital camcorder to record the experience. All you have to do is submit a 250 word or less essay that describes what you are most excited about this Black Friday. Chances are that writing about sleeping in and not standing in line for three hours at a Best Buy probably won’t win, but that’s what I’m most excited about after working retail for so long.

This would have been cool, but in Rochester, NY, I’m not within 20 miles of one of the chosen store areas. I thumb my nose in your general direction, Best Buy!
No San Antonio, TX or Austin, TX stores!?
I not only thumb my nose at you Best Buy, but I give you my big stiff middle finger and promise you that you won’t see one dime of my Xmas spending money.
You can live anywhere, just need to meet the limo at the 20 mile mark from the store.
I recommend anyone who’s thinking about entering this contest check out

and make sure that one of these stores is within 20 miles of where you live. Otherwise, you’re not eligible.
Yes you are eligible, even if you live more than 20 miles from a best buy. READ THE TERMS! You just have to go to a predetermined pick-up area…and then they will take you to the best buy.
I’ve been to one of these for a friend. He needed something they were selling and I was the only one available to get it. These things are nuts, and while the sales are pretty considerable, I really don’t see the point. People seriously camp out at these things to save $40 – $50. I guess you can save more, but it seems like a such a huge waste of time for what you’re getting. Maybe its just entertainment and something to do.

Its just not that. People are just plain idiots when it comes to following the next person. If they want to spend there time in the cold, Lets all do it ;-)
