Look out, Walmart. Best Buy is going to sell Modern Warefare 2 at midnight too. But unlike Walmart, Best Buy’s average middle of the night clientele doesn’t look like this. or this. or this. The line will start at 10:30 p.m. and at 12:01 a.m., you and a few other socially-stunted gamers will get a chance to buy the game. How exciting. If you must be the first to own the game, there is a nice little advantage to buying the game at Best Buy instead of Walmart though.
Yeah, Best Buy will be offering an instant $10 gift card to Reward Zone Gamer’s Club members, which is more than enough reason to buy the game at Best Buy if you ask me. Hell, I would buy the game at PetCo if they offered me $10 off. Plus, there will be additional giveaways during the event.
Click over to the Best Buy info page for the complete list of participating stores.

Seriously, what moronic lead let you write an article? “Best Buy will be offering an instant $10 gift card.” Big damn deal, especially when Wal-Mart is offering a $20 gift card for pre-ordering, and Amazon.com is offering $20 with free release-date delivery for its Prime members, so Best Buy is not even CLOSE to the best option. I mean, did Best Buy HIRE you to write this fodder?
The Walmart deal is for pre-ordering and is a gift card you can only use online. Therefore the Best Buy deal is superior if you want to buy the game in store instead of online.
But thanks for playing along!
That’s not the point, the point is that you made is sound like Best Buy has the only deal, and that no one else is offering concessions. Most of the “socially-stunted gamers” you describe aren’t only going to order this single game during the Christmas season, so $20 off a future purchase is a better deal. I mean, read ANY respected tech analysts blogs or articles and that’s what they’ve been saying.
If it’s 10$ off the game I’d rather have that. Personally. Not to mention that Wal-Mart is something I don’t like to support, seeing as they destroy local businesses. Best Buy is a much friendlier place to shop, and have better customer service.
Local businesses tend to destroy themselves, not Wal-Mart. If you can’t beat Wal-Mart as far as customer service and an elevated shopping experience goes then you need to go out of business. That said, I will be buying mine at Amazon…well, not this because I have a life, but I will buy something in honor of all of you who still live in mom’s basement…or garage.
WOW!! Hayden did best buy sexually assault you at some point in your life or something. I’ve never seen someone so upset about receiving a free gift card. Take a deep breath and everything will be alright.
Matt thanks for the great article.
I ordered mine from Target.
