Microsoft’s new Windows 7 ads keep with the same message

Microsoft has two new Windows 7 ads and, well, they are just like the first batch. A random regular person thinks that they designed Windows 7 when we all really know it was us nerds that posted every little Vista flaw on message boards and blogs. But we shouldn’t take all the credit. Regular people hate Vista too. One more video is after the jump.

  • These are nice. Once again focusing on the positives instead of taking snide potshots at your perceived weaknesses whilst failing to mention anything of value.

Sort of in direct contrast to Matt’s article really.

  • This has been the first time I’ve seen these commercials, it seems that lately they’ve stopped advertising it. Well, no one really uses these features anyways..What, my 3 year old son is getting on the computer? I don’t think so? (I don’t actually have a son, just using it as an example) Posted to my blog:

  • I am getting sick of the pointless Vista hatred. I know my initial experience (since beta) was smoother than most people’s, but post service packs Vista was quite nice, even for the average non-tech user. It’s always been quite stable too (more stable than even than OS X on my iMac).

Vista haters sound stupid and out of touch. You can almost forgive the standard useras perhaps they were burnt by their first experience and didn’t give it another try, but among the more tech savvy- and particular tech writers- it’s hatred for the sake of fashion and it’s hard to think of a more shallow position.

    • My problem with Vista is that I hear nothing but bad things about it day after day at work from customers who tried and failed to get their legacy apps running with it, not to mention peripherals.

We’re a small Texas only retail chain and it’s just amazing how many customers went to the trouble of building dual boot XP/Vista systems, pretty much for nothing but bad news and money out the window.

If Vista had 7’s virtualization capability (XP mode) and the ability to use XP drivers, this conversation would be quite different, I imagine.

  • Accept as axiomatic the proposition that People are Idiots, and move on. If it works for you, and it doesn’t for them, you win, and they lose.

  • The adverts in the UK are horrendous. They try to make out that people are boasting about how they made Windows 7. The concept is okay but the way its delivered just isn’t good. Once you’ve seen two adverts they contradict each other !

  • I had Vista and didn’t know what the fuss was about worked fine looked great compared to XP-”BC”- Just got 7 and realise how annoying Vista is. Win 7 does a great job of stopping balloons of annoyance in the task bar – some of my software seems to run slower though so expect updates will fix

  • I think the ad campaign should be ” Windows 7 – Less annoying”

  • why do they have a really skinny black guy at the grill when he has his flash black?

    • You’ll note that with the woman’s advert they do the same thing. It’s a joke about a person’s self image and memory perhaps not matching reality entirely.

      I really like these adverts.

  • Yeah all the people look completely different when they go back to their flashback. Its funny how the girls look way hotter in their flashback. Kinda defeats the purpose of the commercial because the whole time you are wondering why they did that and you forget what the commercial is even talking about.
