Hasn’t Infinity Ward earned your trust for Modern Warfare 2?

mw2Everyone knows that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is almost here and just like every other epic game, its launch is covered in a haze of controversy. It seems like every day people find something else to bitch about the upcoming shooter. First, there was the lack of dedicated server support that got PC gamers riled up. Then a clip surfaced showing that *gasp* you might kill civilians. (GTA, anyone?) But it goes on: price gouging, multiplayer limited at 9v9, and online retailers boycotting because of Valve’s Steam or something like that.

But am I the only one that have dismissed all these complaints because of Infinity Ward’s track record? Look at the history here, the Call of Duty franchise is among the very best FPS ever made and Infinity Ward was behind every major PC and console release. The Call of Duty games have never let me down in the past, and I doubt this one will be any different.

callofduty_790screen002Do you remember the original Call of Duty? It was epic. Finally you were’t alone on the battlefield, instead fighting alongside fellow solders. You played as a solder from the American, British, and Soviet armies. The American campaign was almost a take on the Band of Brothers’s HBO mini-series. But it was the Soviet level where you had to defend the multistory apartment building from all angles that defined the game. It has to be one of the hardest and most complex FPS levels of all time.

Not only did Infinity Ward use the Quake III engine to give the game great graphics, but the story was deep and involved. I expect no less from Modern Warfare 2.

Infinity Ward did the same thing with Call of Duty 2 by allowing you to play as four different solders in different battle campaigns. But it was the multiplayer in the second chapter that was stunning. The maps where huge and could support up to 64 players. It’s still a favorite at LAN parties I attend although everyone eventually gravitates to the sniper rifle and the room falls silent for hours as we all sneak around.

It’s Call of Duty 3 that takes a slightly different look. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good game, but it wasn’t nearly as grand as the previous two games. Infinity Ward didn’t develop this game, another branch of Activision did, Treyarch. COD3 was simply just another WWII FPS and, feel free to argue with me, not worthy of the COD name with game play that boarded on tedious and boring.

But the Infinity Ward release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare by far made up for COD3. I don’t think I need to go into just how awesome the first player and multiplayer modes are on this game. You probably already know as everyone has played it. It overtook Halo 3 as the most played Xbox 360 online game of all time and became a favorite of PC gamers because it’s so easy to play pirated versions online.

Its success is the reason Infinity Ward and Activision is getting so much flack over its sequel. All die-hard players want is updated graphics, new maps, and slightly different weapons. I don’t blame them, they don’t want their favorite game to change dramatically. I was the same way with the Half Life mod, Day of Defeat.

Infinity Ward has different plans though. From what everyone can gather, this release is going to be different from the previous game. Dedicated servers aren’t going to be available, which doesn’t sit well with online gamer clans and people hoping to play on cracked servers like in the original. It just so happens that these dedicated gamers are vocal online and so causal gamers have been carry a picket line fence too even though they probably won’t notice a difference in game play.

Yet none of the complaints seems to bother me although I consider myself on the edge of being one of those dedicated gamer. I really think it’s because I enjoyed the hell out of each of Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty releases too. Every single one of them is on my top 10 list of best video games of all time. Modern Warfare 2 might very well be a disgrace to online PC gaming, but I’ll wait the couple of weeks and decide that myself before. Infinity Ward has earned that trust.

It’s easy to jump onto an Internet bandwagon, but when you really think about it, Modern Warfare 2 is just another stupid video game. If you boycott it because it doesn’t support 24v24 multiplayer or clans, the game will still go onto sell a bajillion copies and you’ll miss out on all the fun because you’re carrying the banner of some random gamers’ forum. I guess everyone needs to fight for a cause sometimes, but I’d be damn to let it get in the way of me playing what could be a great game.

  • Try playing MW2 on a crap internet connection.I live in kenya and I’m pretty sure IWnet won’t have even one single server in Africa thus leading to high pings(400 or so)

You may think Dedicated servers are not a big deal but for gamers like us it is.we can’t play on IWnet and yet we are expected to plunk down 120 dollars roughly for a neutered game that won’t even let me play with my clan.

Sadly it seems the game wasn’t tailored to cater for some minorities despite IW insisting they are aiming for that.I won’t pay 120 dollars for a single player campaign alone so I’m waiting on BF:BC not to spite IW but cos we need a new game to fill the void MW2 is leaving behind.

  • And yes the game will cost 120 dollars for us.there’s a premium for shipping to a third world country it seems.

  • Check out The Rumor Feed. It has a big article on this very issue.

    http://rumorfeed.blogspot.com/2009/11/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-it-costs.html

Yes but if we boycot the game it will give less cash to IW, and show them that we will not put up with this crud.

To take our boycott further, we can buy another game. This site suggests Bad Company, and I for one agree.

  • I’m buying MW2 simply for the single-player experience. I loved playing MW1 simply to experience the story they created. I liked playing online, but I was nowhere near as good as the other players and I quickly tired of it.

GASP.. Any remorse for the massacare at Fort Hood there Matty?

So now you get to play Nidal Malik Hasan thanks to the assholes at Affinity (phsyc) Ward.

  • Bryan, youre a douche. Having said that I wont be buying this game until after some reviews are out. It might be an epic game for all I know and the 9v9 doesnt bother me since i have playing on crowded servers. But I am andgry at the way they seem to be turning their back on the PC community and until i see that what they did was best they wont be getting my money. Why should they get my money if I dont even know if their game is any good, they are not gods and thus infallible. for all you know this is their one game that sucks. Im sorry but no one deserves to get money thrown at them just because of their “record”. They have to earn it.

    • I don’t believe I said anywhere in the post to actually buy the game on blind faith, but rather stay away from the bandwagons until it’s released and played.

      If it sucks, it sucks.

      • THE REAL Concerned Parent - November 6th, 2009 at 10:46 am GMT+5

I was just recently telling a friend (an adult) that COD4 is the best FPS ever made ad I can not possibly see how it is possible for them or anyone else to ever top that game.

I dont think they will once the game is played throught the touchy parts. If they allow snow mobiles online, then I think that alone would do it.

  • Flawed logic? It is a free market society. We vote for what we like with out hard earned $$. Loyalty should not make you spend money on something we know we won’t like.

For example, I am kinda loyal to Pizza Hut when ordering pizza. If they made a new snazzy all bell pepper pizza I’m under no obligation to purchase it just because I like Pizza Hut. I hate bell peppers, why would I pay for that feature? And if they jacked up the price 20%, why in the world would I pay more for something I dislike?

  • I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.com 2 weeks ago. I would have to agree with Matt. Loyalty plays a big role in buying this game. Nintendo fan boys would also agree – Mario, Zelda, Metroid…need I say more. IW has a good track record of making great FPS games and so I can have at least some confidence in knowing my $60 is not going to waste.

    • I did the same. Frankly, I pre-ordered on Amazon because they have a hell of a deal and I was madly in love with CoD 4. I sympathize with those in the PC gaming community that are ticked off about all of the decisions that IW is making. But really, IW’s track record says that it’s going to be a great game, and you know, I love playing great games.

  • From South Africa and just cancelled my pre order a 2nd time right after I heard about the player cap and the amazing Mouse and Keyboard support they bestowing on us. I have been a IW fan since I planted the beacon and all hell broke loose around me in the 1st level of COD1 Pc – they have failed us miserably but I also have to mention that if this is their response to piracy – jeez it’s not working. Those guys WILL find a way to screw anyone out of hard earned dosh, there’s no need to punish the ones that are legit. Maybe Activision just doesn’t see the need to offer more to a market that gives them less money and still demands that they get shit for free afterwards.

  • “Yet none of the complaints seems to bother me although I consider myself on the edge of being one of those dedicated gamer.”
Because none of the things bother you (although I don’t get how the lack of dedicated and max 8 other teammates doesn’t bother you). And in general that’s what’s wrong with the World today. ‘If it doesn’t affect me then I don’t care’. Where are people’s principles these days?

I’ll agree on the shooting civilians thing. To complain about that is absurd. Political correctness and trying to hide the truth does not make this a better place. The video linked above from G4 is an example…if everyone bitched as much we wouldn’t get anything done. “Om don’t say you have a wide-screen it might offend fat…I’m sorry, big-boned peo…I mean human beings”. We all have differences and if YOU think we can’t joke about that then YOU are the one making it seem bad to be a person who is X or Y. Ironic huh? Grenade spammers are wusses who don’t want to get hurt, how can a comical video NOT use the word or a related one? Get over it and have a laugh.

But the rest? Why does the game have to regress? In this article you mentioned how games just kept evolving but MW2 has only did this in some areas! Lean and recording was implemented in MW…would it have been so hard to take those existing technologies and put them in MW2? Dedicated servers…this directly impacts A LOT: max 18 players, no mods, no custom maps, host ping advantage and no real home for clans. Console commands again isn’t something I play around with but I’m sure lots of people do.

If I had more time I would look for the video of IW talking about how they implemented things in MW that the public wanted, if you can’t see the difference between that and this then I can’t help you.

  • Huh, I’m gonna be honest, you really do post some utter cock on here sometimes, but that was some class A blogging. Seriously, great post.

  • This article was obviously done by a hack looking to get attention by going against the masses. He did absolutely no research. Where do you make your assumptions about pirating for PC? Hmmm maybe your information came from game publishers who inflate pirating numbers to excuse poor game development. Simple research would show that out of 17K servers there are about 350 cracked servers. You can not compete on a punkbuster server or in a competitive league without purchasing the game and getting a GUID. There are 2 million unique users that have been logged by PB.

As far as trust all trust flew out the window when after being told in Sept that PC mp was the same we found out a few weeks later it wasn’t. We know the consequences of P2P and no mods. Do you? A good console game does not make for a good PC game.
Next time please do your homework and don;t be such an amateur.

  • waaa waaaa waaaaaa, such nonsense. Here comes the waaaaahmbulance.
Get over it. If the options don’t appeal to you, stfu and get on with your life. Boycotting is ridiculous, if enough people feel butt hurt about a max 9v9 and no dedicated game servers, etc. then enough people won’t buy the game. At least you know what the limitations are BEFORE buying/pirating the game.

  • Quote: Bryan Mccloskey “How dare them not put a server in Kenya for you!”

How dare they allow dedicated servers!
How dare they allow us to boot abusive players!
How dare they allow us to play with a low ping!
How dare they allow us to play with more than a handful of friends!
How dare they allow us to have clans!
How dare they allow us to play like we want!
How dare they allow us to have a mod community!
    How dare they allow competitions!

Don’t worry, you can be sure that all those things will not be included in MW2. I was a loyal fan to Infinity War until they deceived and spit on the PC Community. IW can burn as far as I am concerned.

  • I already bought MW2 twice already once for the PS3 and once for the PC. I already have it set to download on Steam the moment it becomes available.

I did get a snicker out of reading the article I notice they didn’t mention COD:World at War what a piece of crap that was.

    Big James

  • sign the petition (dont have link now). go for bad company or any valve game. IW has apparently taken our goodwill and sodomized us with it.

  • Obviously you have made your choice to buy the game, good for you!!!! I’m making an asumption here that you only play the single player aspect of the game ? You talk little about Multiplayer (probably because your a console player) And the fact that you mention about the Hacked servers you have No idea what you are talking about when it comes to multiplayer for PC. Do you homework before posting.
Sure the game looks good in single player, so you can spend your $$ on a game that you will play maybe twice through before you toss it aside for a new game.
A squad/clan/guild however Plays for a totaly different reasoning, I have been playing FPS games since the original Doom. Once i was elected to be a squad member, my Multiplayer expeirience Sky rocketed upward. The bliss of playing on a squad, playing with teammates and against them – playing with and against other squads – trying to beat my personal scores and have fun doing so, i could play single a 15vs15 map 1000 times and still have the joy of playing with all of those people. Untill you have actually joined an online group and played with them for a few years – YOU HAVE NOTHING when it comes to understanding multiplayer. i have created 100’s of maps for novalogics DF series. We (as an online squad) had 3 dedicated servers 15vs15 20vs20 that were full all the time and it was a blast playing in that atmosphere. after 10 years of playing that game we still play it every once in awhile… Same goes for BF series and COD series.(and yet I played the single player once or twice in every game)
Dedicated servers make the play more fair – no one has a 0 ping and anyone could connect to it at anytime, we have the ability to set rules for the squad and public as well on each server (and you DIDNT HAVE TO BE INVITED – you could just choose the server and join)

Now – IW has removed the functionality of Map Making, removed the ability to adjust your graphical settings through the console command, removed dedicated servers, removed the options to add or remove items from a game to make it more appealing, and only leave it at 9vs9. The professional and weekend PC Gamers and squads can’t use this game -

IW is trying to make everything like a console game. We didnt want that, we didnt expect that, and to top it off Robert Bowling blatantly Lies to the pc gamers through out the world ..
“Shack: By the way, have you changed the way multiplayer games function on the PC at all?

Robert Bowling: PC will be the same as it always was.”
that is absoulute lie. This was before the whole IWnet crap. So yeah we have a right to be pissed… we’re expecting a game that has the SAME functionality – so we preorder it because we Believe the companys answer… and then 2 weeks before its released – they drop this crap??

IW was good for their games, but to lie to the public just to gain our trust has gone to far.

next time make sure you know your facts about your so called gaming experience.

    • To say someone has no idea about multiplayer gaming because they’ve not sat around to make “100’s of maps” and modded games to play mad1337 sound fx when somebody gets a headshot is just ridiculous. I’m sure every bastard who reads this blog played the first doom for endless hours, you are not special, get over it.
Now, are you angry at CrunchGear or are you still angry at infinity ward, no matter how much you troll?

      BOOM!! HEADSHOT!!

      • well apparently you have never played in online matches or actually cared about the multiplayer aspect either. go back to playing mario brothers.

        • Yeeeaah, try telling my girlfriend that, I’m sure it would give her a laugh.

There’s nothing stopping squads playing together in 9vs9 matches & infinity ward have said there have been measures taken to eliminate hosts with 0 ping.
The game ships with a shit load of maps and pc players will probably get any dlc for free anyway, so you’re really making a big deal out of something that isn’t that bad arn’t you? so quit it with the “nobody understands me bcuz im so 1337 :’( …” bullshit and dont buy the game. Go mod yourself some new guns and maps for COD4 and rock that shit ALL NIGHT!

        • awww PG has a problem, tell your girlfriend(hand) that you can’t play with her and your marios game at the same time….
You seem to make your self look cool by talking “1337″ as you say .. yet thats all you can come up with? maybe you should re-read what i posted .. or is it to much for your pee sized brain to handel? IW lied to begin with, and the only people that are complaing are PC users – the only feedback we get from that is like you the console player “nobody understands me…” well partly because you don’t understand – the only way to rectify your self is with coments like yours.

be a man…. say somthing that will really make you cool just so you can have the last word .

    • I addressed what my ‘pee’ sized brain couldn’t ‘handel’ in my first reply. You can not say someone has no idea about multi-player gaming because they are not part of the mod community. I Play PC games (yes, online jackass), I play console games and even the odd board game. You are no more a gamer than someone else just because you like to make maps, think about it for a second, its stupid.

Oh and good job with the hand Joke, It was awesome.

      • i never once stated “mod” You had brought that upon your self.. I said i have “made maps” and maybe thats why you get “Mod” from which is rightfully so… Howwver im not a modder
i simply like to set rules in servers like languae and racial remarks. whom i choose to kick from the server. how many people i can have 9vs9 is simply not enough in this day and age.

And to make it more complete about mods…. if it wasnt for the mod community, most games out there like BF series and yes even the COD series would have gone away along time ago.

the new options or “mods” in cod mw2 were all created by modders before this game was thought of…Take cod4 and waw, AC-130, Throwing knives, 3rd person and such were all mods and IW has now implimented them into the game without even a TY to the modders who made it happen.

As I only like to make maps, I don’t concider myself a modder . I never said I was better than anyone else.. I simply stated that without playing in such an enviroment, you can’t possibly understand how the squads and HC gamers view whats going on. (my words could have been put together more constructivly and maybe more understood) but oh well such is life..

        • Okay, I’m not sure how you interpreted my last post as an attack on the modding community but lets just pretend for a second that you’re not the only one on the planet that understands the pc gaming scene. I’m fully aware of what modders have achieved.
You seem to want to argue about something for the sake of it so I’ll leave you to it, though my original statement still stands.

          Good day.

  • Your goodwill?
PC gamers have no goodwill, aside from what they have to their fellow pirates.
The reason IW made all these changes is because MAYBE %10 of the people playing their games on PC were playing legitimate copies.

You’ve been sodomized by your own thieving actions. If you didn’t specifically, then you are one of the few. Why can’t PC gamers understand that they have BROUGHT THIS ON THEMSELVES?

    • Blaise do you homework, 10% ?
      COD4 – 17k servers… all leg.. with guid #’s and maybe 200 are pirated… get real… 10%

      • Yeah, I was just throwing random numbers out. However, it has been made clear by Activision/IW that the amount of illegal copies of the game being played was a serious problem.

You can’t really blame them for putting measures in place to stem the flow of piracy in PC gaming.

If you want to pretend like it’s not a problem, then you’re just turning a blind eye to what you know for a fact is a reality.

        • I agree that pirating is a problem, but to limit our ablilities as a pc gamer – they could have come up with a better plan, they took the easy way out Yet they said they’ve spent more money on this project than any others. they should have spent some extra money on designing an anti cheat device that wouldnt limit so many things.
I will not be buying this game as it cant supply my Sqaud (TheNewTerror.com) the neccessary items to be a competitive game. we will be moving to BF and L4d 2.

  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, PS3, X360) developer Infinity Ward was shocked to discover an unexpectedly high level of piracy in regards to the PC versions of its acclaimed FPS.
After using his blog to reveal that the developer is quite happy with the recent number of PC owners playing the game online, the studio’s community relations manager fourzerotwo expressed amazement at how many of those players were running a pirated copy of the game.

“What wasn’t fantastic was the percentage of those numbers who were playing on stolen copies of the game on stolen / cracked CD keys of pirated copies (and that was only people playing online),” he posted under the heading “They Wonder Why People Don’t Make PC Games Any More.”

    Suck it!

    • Any percentage greater than 0 isnt fantastic, because its still a loss. Take the piracy crazy out of the equation. What reason is there? The game will still be pirated by the same people regardless. Piracy isn’t just going to go away. That leaves everyone else to suffer the effects of it.

      • and to think…. the console version isn’t pirated ?!?!?!! just the pc verision… lol

        • Never said that. But it’s obviously more difficult to do and could result in a ban and warranty void on your console, so the incentive to NOT pirate, is much higher.

On PC, you can just google “COD4 kegen” and you’re on your way to free gaming.

On console, you actually have the risk of voiding your systems’ warranty in order to play illegal copies of games.

Why can’t people just stop being such fucking dirt-bag thieves and buy games/media?
Really, if it’s too expensive, then maybe people need to rethink their priorities.

While Activision/Infinity Ward will certainly not suffer greatly, many MANY other companies have and are no longer around because sales fall through the floor as a result of the PC community “sharing” what isn’t rightfully theirs to share.

        • i agree Blaise…. i cannot argue what is true…
i was just stating that already there are pirated copies of a game on console.. and the pc version isnt even here yet. but we (the pc gamers) are getting reamed for it.
i did not mean to sound like i quoted you..

  • So basically, PC gamers are going to have the same experience as console gamers? I prefer mouse and keyboard but I really don’t play on mod servers, I don’t play with a clan anymore, and I could never tell who was cheating really that the servers PB didnt auto ban. No big deal for most people?

  • “Call of Duty franchise is among the very best FPS ever made and Infinity Ward was behind every major PC and console release” i think not? what about call of duty world at war?

  • Hey tards, here’s your solution:
COD is better on console than it is on PC. I’ve been doing FPS on PC since the early 90’s, and COD:4/MW2 are literally the only games I prefer on console vs. PC. The solution? Buy a 360 for this one game and play CS:S for your PC FPS.

  • Looks like PC gamers are going to have to use Gamebattles.com for their clan battles just like we console players have to use now.

  • The thing that bugs me about it all is that it wouldn’t cost anything for Infinity Ward to release unsupported dedicated server software and let the community deal with it, and it’d save a lot of face.

There’s no reason IW can’t run IWNet offer what they consider a superior experience, AND let dedicated server fans run their own community. How would that hurt Infinity Ward?

  • Hey, the PC version will ship out on Nov. 10th. It’s not delayed.

  • The line must be drawn somewhere. Dedicated servers is it (especially when they’re doing a price hike! More for less!). Further, why the heck should I be forced to use my own upload internet connection if I don’t even have admin over my own listen server. Yes, the CoD community is notoriously bad about “no swearing” no (insert perk here), no proning/standing up, stupid increases on playercount, but if you know where to look you CAN find the right server and servers DO build communities.

At least the upside is now since its linked to Steam, group communities may take off. Of course if noone is on who can host without lag is on…

For the record I’m on T1 and therefore can host without problem, but I’m against this.

  • Yes, infinity ward has earned my trust. I love their games, I love their design teams, I love all their stuff.
Am I going to buy MW2? No way in hell.
This is obviously a case of the devs making a great game and some corporate a-hats saying, ‘f it, lets make more money and screw these guys. pc gamers should thank us and be happy for a console experience’.

  • You wrote
“It overtook Halo 3 as the most played Xbox 360 online game of all time and became a favorite of PC gamers because it’s so easy to play pirated versions online.”

Where do you that pirated version of PC COD4 are playable online? They’re not! Piraed Version only allows you to play its short campaign on the cracked servers which lacks Punkbuster and doesn’t provide you with a good connection.
Don’t worry i tried the pirated veresion, but i bought the game after finding out this game is amazing.
Most of people that plays COD4 online BOUGHT the game.
Unless you actually pirated COD4 game and you are allowed to play on any COD4 server on game-monitor.com then i don’t believe that your statement is valid.

  • they say that the pc community is a small minority. that last time i looked there were over 16000 cod4 dedicated servers in the list and if you are not smart enough to double click on a game to play, you need to be on matchmaking.

  • Dang… I was going to play this on PC till SW: The Old Republic dropped… *sigh* Now I have to find something else. Well at least THAT game will be PC only. MMO’s are the last true bastion for us, PC’ers.

  • I’m sorry, but I’m a PC gamer and I wouldn’t call it whining. I call it, a company making bad decisions that directly influence the entire PC gaming community. If you are a PC gamer, then you should realize you’ve sinned by posting an article in support of Infinity Ward’s actions. You are not a true PC gamer. PC gamers take solace in the fact that their PC gaming experience separates them from console gamers, and MW2 is everything PC gamers do not want.

You can’t just wave away these issues with talk of how good Infinity Ward’s past games were, we know how good they were, we bought them because they were good. We never had to “whine” in the first place because PC gaming used to be “good”. PC gaming used to be flourishing, where innovation was key to its success. Now, PC gaming is suffering from greedy companies that want to get their money-making equations perfect and somehow throwing out innovation and equalizing the PC games to their console counter-parts was factored into it. It sickens me. We are telling Infinity Ward they are WRONG for their actions and by golly, there are lots of us. We can’t all be wrong.

So please, remind me Infinity Ward’s games were good. I’ll agree with you. But Modern Warfare 2 is a prime example of why PC gaming is not what it used to be, and for us PC gamers, that’s a TERRIBLE thing. We can no longer justify our niche. Games like MW2 make me question why I throw down on such a high dollar gaming rig.

I whole heartedly welcome the so-called “whining” PC gamers because it means we speak louder than console gamers who are used to inaction. That puts us on a much higher tier, not in terms of ego, but in terms of greatness and righteousness, which (believe it or not) can be mutually exclusive. Disagree all you want, it just means you’re as pathetic as the console gamers.

Oh, and one last thing–the lack of community custom mods and custom maps is outrageous. Think about that before you go fanboying Infinity Ward and talking down the very gamers that made Infinity Ward what it is today. Sickening. I hope you never buy a PC game from this point forward, you don’t deserve to call yourself a PC gamer.

  • Wow I’ve been playing cod mp right from the early days and I can’t believe the decision to make the new and improved super sophisticated next-level mp of a brand new 2009/10 cod game a 9vs9 early 90’s throwback!

I didn’t realise that the console versions were so far behind in terms of mp ability that it is not possible for more players than those involved in a Sunday league footy match at the park (11vs11!!!) to play against each other! 9vs9 the future? – don’t make me laugh! Why bring the pc version back 2 decades? Even 1987 MIDI Maze supported 8-a-side and that was the first mp 1st prsn shooter invented!

9vs9 – a more enjoyable and realistic experience – I’m in a warzone, I’m in Afghanistan where troops are organised into 30-man combat platoons, ‘REALISM’ = absolute minimum of 30 a side capability for those who want it! Got no problem with a 9vs9, hell a 1vs1 is all good if it turns u on! But as an OPTION not as the ONLY choice! – it sure don’t do it for me and my mates anyways!!

If I were chief: airstrikes and dogs would be dropped or at least limited CHRIST!, bigger maps + vehicles would be a must, age 3+ deathmatches would be banned, a proper system of rank would be implemented with single shot kills to the leg – lol becoming a thing of the past.. hold on… it just occurred to me… heard of Battlefield anyone? I may just be off 4good this time! – someone plz remind me why I’m gonna stick with IW & Activision’s ‘next gen’ mp console raped game???

  • Most modes in MW2 including Team death match are actually only 6 versus 6. That’s hilariously pitiful.

MW2 sucks compared to so many other FPS games already on the market or coming out early next year (I’m looking at you Bad Company 2). The single player is only like 5-6 hours long. Pathetic. The multiplayer lacks destructible environments, dynamic physics, drivable vehicles, large player counts, dedicated servers, the ability to lean, and so on. I wouldn’t bother playing MW2 if I got it free in a magazine.

P.S. Infinity Ward has earned nothing from me except contempt, which is exactly what they’ve shown all their long time fans (I’ve been a fan of the series since the beginning, until now). Matt Burns, you’re apparently too naive and clueless to realize when developers start caring more about their money than their customers. I hope sometime soon you take off your rose coloured glasses and stop being seduced by the Activision marketing/hype machine trying to cover up the sucky game they are trying to push on us under a once respected brand name. Until then, you’re nothing but a tool.

  • Just bought MW2 and i want my money back,,, that is the biggest load of nonsense iv’e seen in a long time,, really really bad,, the multiplayer is just pants absolute pants,,, and the single player is nonsense. all that hype for this rubbish. war games played out in the Newton Mearns lmao whos responsible for this game,,, OFF WITH HIS HEAD.

  • What a very odd article.

“Do you remember the original Call of Duty? It was epic. ”

Er, yes, COD1 was indeed a great game. The Stalingrad level is one of the all-time great FPS levels. But that was – what – 6 years ago (and IMGO it’s been downhill for the COD series).

You seem to be suggesting that because Infinity Ward produced a great game once, that gamers – who are paying for their products, remember – should have an infinite resource of patience and understanding for the annoyances that IW have decided to inflict on them.

  • HC Pc gamers are not complaining anymore – well because they didnt buy the game – moved on and is awaiting DICE’s final release of BC2

Now you have PS3 owners whining about server issues, Xbox players whining about the playability and how 1 million were banned for modded boxes(1 million ? i think they jumbled there #’s just a bit) and the steam account users complaining of their downloads/ playabilitly….
Hacks were out the next day( mind you —console users blame ALL pc gamers for this )
and then you have the controller MODS that are already in full bloom – surely Pc gamers will be blamed for this as well…

ALL the Hype about IW and MW2
and all that money you hear they put into making the game….It was all IW marketing and advos to get your attention – the game really didn’t improve at all….

    IW = FAIL

  • Just another pissed PC usser - November 23rd, 2009 at 11:29 am GMT+5

IW!!!!!! yeah I’m talking tou you.
Stick your head far up your asses cause I just got 25 killz!!!!!!!!

  • This game is amazing and i havent had any problems yet. I am in first prestige level 70 and am prestigeing when i get home today. 2 days playtime and this is amazing.

  • When Infinty War5d does something about its games being hacked by pedophiles (the same hacks from COD2 work in 6!!!), then we can talk about trust. As a Marine I will not let them continue to use my good name with such a DISCUTING excuse for secure code. Try some server based encrypted keys Infinty Ward…oh, but then you wouldnt be able to find your own prey, eh. Your probably the worst of the perps in this whole deal…cuZ you aint doin NOTHIN about it.
