Well, Netflix streaming on the PS3 works. Of course, you need to use the special disc (can’t just download the software eh? how quaint). But it appears to be working correctly. Check out the video above, which demonstrates that it’s working, and working smoothly.

I’m actually glad that the PS3 has Netflix streaming now. It’s a nice addition to a really great Blu-ray player. If I owned a PS3, I’d totally get the disc and stream my heart out…

You know, like I have been doing since 2008 on my 360.

  • Wait, so you have to load the disc in every time you want to stream Netflix?? I figured the disc just contained the install. That’s horrible for PS3 owners if that is the case.

I have both PS3 and 360 so it’s not a big deal for me, but if you have to keep that disc to use Netflix, that is REALLY bunk.

  • Swapping discs has gotten too difficult. I demand easier way to play games and watch movies.

  • I think it’s just temporary though, until they build the netflix app into the actual dashboard. At least that what I though I heard.

  • Have we gotten so lazy that we can’t switch out disks? Really? If I can get netflix on my ps3 and the only cost is that I have to get off my butt and take a step foward to exchange disks, I’ll happily do it. Congrats on cancelling your xbox live service btw!

  • I for one commend Netflix for thinking of using bdlive technology to get around Microsoft’s streaming exclusivity. Should have my disk in a couple days.

  • Swapping out a disc is a big deal? Really?

My Netflix disc came yesterday and we’ve been streaming all afternoon and this evening. It works great over a wireless connection and the video quality is great.

I’ll end up using the streaming service more now.

Now I just need to keep my HoverRound charged for all that disc swapping!

  • i have netflix on the 360 and tested it out on my ps3 yester day. it works ok on the ps3. it just takes more time to down load the pics of the movie covers when browsing them. on the 360 its faster. i had both systems hard wired no wireless connection.also i have the fasted connection that i can get from time warner. roadrunner turbo.
putting the disk in is really no big deal. i partialy watched 3 differnt movies and stoped them on the ps3 then i checked my 360 and netflix does keep track of where the movies were stopped on the ps3 and visa versa. just resume play on either system. the only thing that bothers me is that netfix could have made it possable to go to there site abrowse the movies and add them to your que. ps3 browser must not be compatable with net flix. it would be nice if they can fix this. since we can surf the web on the ps3. i really dont think net flix is very good its all old movies i have had it for 5 months and i think i am canceling it this month. if the had newer movies to down load and no hd downloads. at least i have run across any hd movies yet. i would stay. but good luck to those trying it on the ps3 you might like it.

  • My PS3 Netflix streaming disc Does Not Work! My PS3 is connected directly to comcast by ethernet cable & I’m using the PS3 controller to type this post now.It says cannot connect to netflix everytime I play the netflix PS3 streaming disc. These 3 options appear. go to netfix.com/help (no help) , try again, exit. Please help, can’t find help or information anywhere on the net. Recieved the PS3 streaming disc by mail Friday hasn’t worked once.

    • Same problem here. Yes of course I have a subscription. Netflix works fine on my TIVO connected to the same notwork. But the PS3 always displays the “Cannot connect to Netflix” error. Any ideas?

  • do you have a subscription to netflix yet ?

you have to sign up for it on your computer first. after that turn on you ps3 the load the disk. write down the code they tell you to imput on netflix .com
dont turn off your ps3 leave it on the screen where the codes shows. don touch it. log on to net flix and enter the code and activate your ps3. dont touch you ps 3 wait a few mintues and it will load on its own.

    • That’s just it, you never get an activation code. I’m on the internet with a FIOS connections. Everything works great, I’m all set on Netflix, but when I load, no code, just an error that it can’t connect. Hmmm.. I can load it through the web browser. ANY IDEAS?

  • you need a computer you cant do it on the ps3.

  • My Netflix disc is on the way, I don’t understand why it wasn’t just done through a firmware update however, or even an install from the disc, I heard you need the disc every time? I think it could’ve been done better than that.

  • I’ve got it..

The resolution to the “Can’t connect to Netflix” error and not getting the authorization code is because you time is off. You need to set your time using the internet(mine was off by an hour).
I guess it does a time check and it rejects you if you’re off by too much.

    • I got my disc today and my time is right on. I’ve tried it a ton and i get the same cannot connect to netflix error. I even updated the time again via the internet and it’s still the same.
