My first reaction – when I saw today on Thanko’s web site that the notoriously silly gadget maker from Tokyo is selling USB-powered gloves with built-in heaters [JP] – was: Who actually buys this kind of stuff? I mean Thanko is a real company, they have brick-and-mortar stores in Tokyo (two of them), they have employees etc. But they have been surviving for years now, even though they closed their English online store last month.
You can connect the gloves (black is for men, white is for women) to your computer’s USB port and expect them to keep your fingers warm while you type. Again: Who in god’s name would do that? And it’s not even Thanko’s only USB gloves, they have models that are shaped like teddy bears, too.

People living outside Japan can order the new USB gloves for $27.75 per pair plus shipping over at Geek Stuff 4 U.

For years I worked as a court reporter in Supreme Court in a large city. The courtrooms were at time like freezers. If you’re familiar with machine shorthand, for eight hours a day, your fingers are moving on the keyboard and they could get so cold, you might get frostbite. These gloves might seem silly but I could see alot of my co-workers would have loved a pair.
sometimes especially now its getting towards winter our house isnt always super hot and my hands do get cold. and hey what about AA / RAC rescue drivers, they need to use their laptops when repairing and to pick up jobs these at least allow proper touch of buttons unlike conventional gloves
now that the weather is beggening to drop here in Maine i’ve been on the look out for those tiny little kids gloves laying around my house so i can cut the tips off of them. my right hand is freezing even now while i type.
if i saw these in a store here i might be tempted to purchase for a lower price tbh
yeah, agreeing with other posters. My wife always complains about how cold it is in her office and her fingers and hands are always like icicles… she’d enjoy this.
I stand corrected.
Hehe, yep, sometimes there is a need for these things. If it weren’t for the fact that they’re USB-powered, I’d get some to use while I’m playing the piano. Aside from that, though… you may be more prone to typos when your hands are frozen.
RSI/CTS sufferers are often told to keep their hands warm.
WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAO this is tooooo funny. USB gloves Awesome, nintendo should make somthing like this for the Wii.
