I haven’t played through all of Super Mario Galaxy, but what I did play was pretty forgiving. Compare that to the punishing, yet rewarding, difficulty curve of the original games or newer games like Demon’s Souls — it’s like comparing a sprint to a ramble. However, Miyamoto has stated in a recent interview that Mario Galaxy 2 will be “really challenging,” which is encouraging. They need to remember that their company has its roots in games that were hard as coffin nails.
On the other hand, Miyamoto also said that Wii Music was getting an enhanced version. I don’t know what to tell you there, Shigeru. The game is a joke, and all of Nintendo is humoring you. Don’t push it. Just make more Mega Man 9 type games and make sure the next Zelda has time travel in it.

This is welcome news. I miss games like Contra and Ninja Gaiden of yore that were super hard, but kept you coming back for more.
The first Galaxy was fun, but it was very much a cakewalk. It’s nice to see difficult games like Demon’s Souls getting praise and doing well for expecting more skill and patience from gamers.
Am I the only one who DIDNT enjoy playing though the same level over and over and over a million times because of the unfair difficulty NES games had?
There is hard, and then there is Nintendo Hard, I seriously don’t see the appeal of Nintendo Hard games, mostly because these games were basically completely unfair.
As one of the few people in the world to successfully complete Battletoads on the NES, I believe I am qualified to state that hard games rock. To some people.
However, one thing to remember is that the Wii is usually about people getting together to have fun with the console, and as we all know, watching someone play the same level over and over again because it is difficult to advance rapidly wears on most of the population. Yes, there are those hardcore gamers that get a kick out of struggling together to pass a difficult section, but that is a small bit of the Wii’s target audience.
Wii music are crap. I can’t believe my wife spent $50 on that pile when it came out.
Bottom line: Difficulty Selection for the win!
