UPDATE – Congrats to Fares for winning the Olive.

I prefer it when my products don’t make me compromise.
I’m in….
Probably should’ve read the full post before commenting.
I’ll tell my tale later when time permits.
It’ll be worth wait. Think: children, mud baths and whales.
Hi just wanted to say that this would be a cool gadget to have
SWEET!
I want! I want!
I need! I need!
current sound system? none in the house. stuck with comcast on demand music played out through the tv speakers. it sucks.
Please I want to win something this year. Sooooo pooor!!!
Oh pick me! Pick me!…. My home theater is sooooo sad, actually mostly just the audio side of things. My audio setup doesn’t serve any justice to my slick TV. For an audiophile device like this though, it shouldn’t go to the saddest audio setup because it would be totally wasted… plugging this into a boombox (a very sad setup) would be like trying to get 500 horsepower out of a Kia.
My audio setup is sad because my receiver is the weak link in my setup. Got a couple nice second hand B&W speakers powered by a janky ass 10 year old yamaha which is well overdue for a replacement. If I win the Olive, it will inspire me to upgrade my receiver as a little present to myself! Oh and boy, you should see my cable mess…
Pick me! Thanks Crunchgear….
I can’t get the whole message that Will Smith is trying to relay to me with cheap Wal-Mart speakers now, can I? The Olive No 4 Hi-Fi Digital Stereo is so perfect for me. I promise.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes
See when you see it like that it realy was too many questions, hahahah
i’ll take one
Current sound system was donated to Goodwill. Had an Onkyo TX-SR674 with 2 HDMI In 1 HDMI out. It had Wharfedale Surround sound Cinema speakers, and a Parts Express Subwoofer. I am selling my house and moving back to Texas. The stager made me get rid of all my stuff so instead of storing it in the attic I thought I would give it to someone who could use it. It’ll probably end up in one of the goodwill workers houses.
I could seriously do with one of these.
well, ever since I bought my first computer in 1995, I have not done any music on the stereo system, prior to that I did have one I picked up from a garage sale when I moved to DC almost 20 years ago. I threw that out last year when I moved. The speakers of that thing are detachable and the wires are the old clamp-on style… I remember during my college years, I use it once for weight lifting… ANYWAYS!
Okay, my current audio setup consists of an 8-track player hooked up to a speaker ripped out of a 1973 Gremlin. My multiroom audio is tin cans and wire strung outside my house from window-to-window. I need this device!
I’m usually not down with posting a ‘poor-me, give me that cool tech item i can’t afford’ response. Lets just say divorce and leave it at that.
I was actually just on ebay looking up a replacement for my current system,a JVC minidisc player (yes, minidisc) that has recently developed an annoying problem; if I crank the volume above 1/4, I can hear this low frequency whoop-whoop-whoop noise that sounds a lot like a helicopter. This not only ruins my enjoyment of the music, but also triggers an urge to go out and buy multiple copies of Catcher in the Rye…
Pick me! :)
Im in
My stereo is a broken iPod and what was a fine set of Shure ear cans, but they were stolen on one o’ them there aereoplane rides. A posted pic would only make me weep.
Aww, I’d pick you :-(
Do want one this time!
here’s my really ancient aiwa stereo, it’s been around since the time i was born :(

as you can see, the antenna’s ripped out, some wiring behind came loose (in fact, alot of it) and i had to cable tie it. the speakers only work if you manually push down hard on the connectors behind, and the cd player cranks out loud noises and basically damages whatever goes inside.
i have no idea what it’s still doing in my house… probably just sentimental value i guess.
sigh, i really could do with an Olive No 4 Hi-Fi!
thanks crunchgear!
This is awesome. Count me in.
My home stereo ala Shopko, I am so ashamed, please don’t judge me……

Damn, that’s hot!
I am SO in. I’m an audiophile. I love devices like this
Cool deal… Trying to win atleast one gift for this Christmas
one of my favorite t-shirts that i own says “I Like Good Music, You Like CRAP!” it is from Turn It Up! record store in Northampton, Mass.
I have an amazing music collection that is lauded by all, yet, this http://www.oaktreeent.com/web_photos/Stereo_Tuners/Harman_Kardon_Citation_Fifteen_15_FM_Stereo_Tuner_web.jpg
is what i have to play it on. it just ain’t right!
hook me up with this bad boy!!!!!
Great ..Finally I can stop running around with my soldering iron to fix broken speakers/wires in my stereo unit.
This would ideal for limiting my music clutter.
sweet!
What is this home stereo system you speak of? All I have is a laptop with 80GB HD and an old 2GB iPod Nano. I have some nice Polk speakers that a friend gave me but nothing to hook them up to.
I put some speakers in the ceiling when I first got my house. A friend at work (who is really into audio stuff) helped me pick out a good pair for a good price. Then, he ran this software he has that helps design a box to put speakers in. So, I mostly followed what his software said, at least in regards to dimensions and the acoustic foam.
The problem with these is that I have an old stereo in the basement that connects to these speakers, but it is all the way in the basement, and I can’t play any digital media from my pc on it.
So, we’ve taken to hooking up my laptop to a logitech flat panel portable speaker.
I don’t have a picture of the speaker, but here is someone else’s picture of the same one I have: http://www.cavecreations.net/woots/Logitech_Flat_Panel_Portable_SpeakersPW7-detail.jpg
If that is sad enough to win, I will put the Olive 4 to good use, and connect them to the speakers I put in the ceiling.
this is a kind of a neat thing for parents which i have so this would be neat to get and give to them since they do still in fact have cds. now if this only had a tape deck on it this would be perfect for them.
$20 speaker set on the computer in the spare room, and iTunes. That’s my setup.
I have a 25 year old “Soundesign” boom box with a coat hanger replacement antenna, really cool “Full-Range” speakers, and of course a “viscous-damped” cassette door – I just love how it opens up really slow and smooth – utterly fascinating!
I have a broken ipod dock stereo that only connects via audio cable the the volume buttons stick so it only works occasionally. doh!
My girlfriend has a stranglehold on our music. I’ve been listening to too much Mariah Carey. I don’t think I have to explain it any further. Please help?
My current audio system consists of a Creative Zen 2GB with a broken screen (memorized the layout of the menu system) and a pair of $10 Skull Candy Ink’d headphones or if I’m feeling particularly spendy, I’ll go out and grab a few AAA batteries so I can use my Altec Lansing ultra-portable speaker. ..which only lasts for a few hours on high. Why they didn’t just make it rechargeable, I don’t know. Aside from that, I use stock laptop/TV speakers. Woo.
This is the type of thing that I have always needed, but have never dropped the cash for. Like a new wardrobe…
I’m desperate here guys, my current sound system is an old all in one Amstrad, please don’t make me suffer anymore, have a heart, after all it is Xmas :).
Audio set up, lol its easy to talk about audio when you dont even have a house. I live in a bedroom i rent from a russian man and his swedish wife. I live in the outskirts of kazakstan. The room I rent if you can call it that is about the size of a small walk in closet, come to think of it I think it is a small walk in closet since they always walk into my room and hang their clothes there. I just need a nice stereo to hide the fact that I am a poor basterd that was delt a bad hand. Please JayBee make this poor soul forget his current situation and let me indulge in what you guys take for granted everyday MODERN TECHNOLOGY. Amen and god bless.
Count me in , nice gadget ;)
Stereo? I wish. I have a macbook with some music ripped from my CD collection. The fidelity is really amazing :).
Please pick me!
Count me in , nice gadget !!!
I currently use my laptop with headphones. That is all the audio system I got.
Unless you count the built in speakers on my CRT TV that I watch sometimes.
I want this badly
This would make my year! For the last 12 months I’ve been trying to hack the “Family” Gramophone that has been passed down from generation to generation so I can play my iPod and CD’s through it.
I’m still having issues so this would save me another 12 months of ruining a family heirloom!
Count me in , nice gadget !!
I have nothing creative to say but the sad truth, I’m out of a job and penniless and desperately need something to cheer me up this holiday season :(
I hope you will find in your heart a way to help me out this Christmas…
Would love to pair this with my Bose speaker set!
You owe it to yourself to listen to some the Era Design 5’s.
That said, count me in!
Rock on!!
My system sucks because this isn’t in it.
Hi,
nothing in my house compares to this system. I am using logitech stereo which is good for library or kitchen. love to have this one
