Huzzahs and alarums! Apple’s January 27 event has just been announced to tech journos all over the world with a new invite reading “Come see our latest creation” hitting inboxes left and right. The event will happen on January 27 at 10am PST.

I always love the Apple invite art, always makes sense after the product launches.
Too bad we will get over saturated with over anylistical banter over the color blotches meanings by blog fanboys everywhere.
Do you know I’m sick of this already and I don’t even know what this is. Neither does anyone else really. I mean it must be getting close to a touch too much hype as this better be the most awesome “thing” we’ve ever seen or it’ll be a big letdown for a load of folk.
Unless the Apple Tablet that will be unveiled is going to release some game-changing features (via the 2 patented tech proclaimed) then people would still want to grab this one. But expect that there are users who has a threshold for money and 1 grand for a tablet isn’t so cheap.
A tablet hasn’t been used that much or we (as the users) is not that familiar with. Unlike the iPhone and iPod, it became a big BOOM! because we are already honed by it. Let’s just see how this one plays out.

My guess is that it will probably have a huge focus on the tablet and little focus on the iphone :-/ Since I already own an iphone I’m more interested in hearing about OS 4.0 over buying another device I don’t need.

Wow, it is going to be SO funny if they just update the MBPs, iPhone, etc. and have no tablet.
Which is personally what I actually want as opposed to a damn tablet with little use!
Perhaps a touchscreen MBP would satisfy everyone, assuming you could open the lid almost 360 degrees. :)

it certainly is amazing how computer technology has changed over the years. We are not psyched about the computing possibility of any future product really, but rather the look, feel and interface it presents.
I just wish this thing actually performs, maybe even takes advantage of opencl or so.
Anyhow anticipation is the greatest joy isn’t it?
My guess: they will bring out a tablet which appeals to some of their stalwart supporters even in the lean years: graphic designers.
This tablet will support multitouch, sure – but it will also run a stylus with great accuracy, and have kick-ass tablet-based art and image manipulation program(s) [possibly in a partnership with Adobe?] out of the box; For the open-source crowd, Inkscape and the GIMP will be tweaked to run with the tablet and be included as well.
As I said – a guess – we’ll see if I’m right.
I’m with blooflame – a highly productive art tablet with stylus doubling as the iPhone’s bigger brother. Let’s hope you can connect it to another PC or another monitor for true drawing pad experience like the high-end, professional Wacom tablets. I will snatch one up, especially if I can develope apps for it too. Would be cool to actually be able to run xcode on it as well. ;-)
hopefully apple will live up to the expectations. after endless rumors, my interest waned. I just hope that there’s no more post about this rumors before that date because it’s already sickening!

Apparently, its iPaint, not iSlate. Seriously, if iSlate is really what they are going with, they are probably playing (far) off “a clean slate” in some way. Of course it will be Apple hip and clever.
A perfect name for this Genre of handheld oversize Iphone/tablet/slate should be “Tabslate”

Tabslates will definitely be the PLATFORM that will transform the information world and the way we use our computers…
