The WSJ just posted a blind item about a killer phone Sony has in the works that is capable of downloading and playing Playstation games. It will probably just be a PSP Go with a phone inside. Shown here is an artist’s rendition of what it will look like. But wait! There’s more!
The WSJ is also reporting that there will be a Sony tablet that also plays PSP games.
Now before you say “Where did I put my stapler?” and yawn in tragic disinterest, remember that Sony still has… nah. These things will be dumb. Sorry.

Leave us not dump on poor old Sony just yet. What if they were to take the PS3′s Blu-Ray innards and put ‘em into this thing and made it such a size that you could carry it around with you and enjoy it while you were on the road or somewhere where a big ol’ TV woudn’t fit. Now that’d be wayyyy cool!
Something like THIS would be way too cool. Of course it is probably way too cool for Sony to wrap their head around.
So 50 million PSP owners, 30 million PS3 owners and 140 million PS2 owners are all idiots I guess.
You too moron!
And this has anything to do with Sony making an “iPad killer” HOW exactly?
The PSPGo DID flop after all.
Also, if you want to play the numbers game, 128 million Nintendo DS owners vs the PSP’s 56 and 68 million Wii owners vs the Ps3′s 32. The DS is the one with the touchscreen as well. These numbers mean absolutely nothing in this conversation however.
I do hope its the PSP we always really wanted.
I love a lot of Sony products. They make great Laptops, MP3 players are very good now and the PS3 is my little buddy.
Really apart from ATRAC, the PSP is the only thing I have an issue with. (now that they got their DRM issues resolved)
I don’t think much of the iPad, but am looking forward to seeing how the industry responds and competes with it.
If Sony wants to play the tablet game, that’s fine with me, just as long as they don’t drink too much of Apple’s kool-aid.
