There’s not a lot to say here except bravo. Actually, one thing worth noting: not only is the display of the iPad is almost exactly the same size as the Classic’s, but it’s also almost exactly twice the resolution (1024×768 vs 512 × 342). Someone get an System 6 emulator on this thing, stat!

Verrry nice. They’ve even hooked up a nice full-size keyboard!

Very cool. But that would be four times the resolution — twice as wide and twice as high.
you know, i get this objection all the time, and while it’s right in certain ways, I think it’s counter-intuitive. It’s certainly four times the pixel count, but if you ask me, quadrupling the pixel count comes from doubling the resolution. it’s really a terminology issue.
Sometimes, Devin, when people object to something you say “all the time,” it’s not because you’re a genius with a brilliant thought and everyone else is an idiot, it’s actually because you’re wrong.
Geometry, Devin. It’s four times the resolution.
So do we get a wireless keyboard and mouse for this as well and turn it into a desktop?

I have to agree with editorkid. The iPad screen has four times as much information in the same area, so it’s 4x the resolution of the Classic. The definitions Google gives for the search term “define: screen resolution” agree that image resolution refers to the amount of information in a given area, not along a line through the image:
- Image resolution describes the detail an image holds
- Total number of pixels of a particular image
- A measurement of the quality of a video image based on the number of pixels that make up the image
- how many pixels are used digitally to recreate an image
- Referred to in “ppi” (pixels-per-inch) or also “dpi” (dots-per-inch). Image resolution is a measurement of pixel density in an image
etc, etc.

What? Fave software on your Mac has something to do with this blog post on recycling an old Mac with a new iPad…did I miss the context here?
It’s spam for Winx.
Seems a waste of a perfectly good mac classic to me.
The resolution measurement that most people are familiar with is the vertical resolution of their TV: 720p, 1080p. The word resolution in general could refer to either the number of pixels per unit length or unit area depending on how it’s used. If left unspecified I think it’s reasonable to assume it’s being used to refer to linear resolution which is the most common use of the word.
I miss my Mac Classic so much! I also miss playing “Dark Castle” side by side with my son for hours. We got so good at that little black and white game.
