It was just a matter of time. With the Archos Android announcement scheduled for September 15, the boys at the FCC have splayed the Android-powered MID that popped up on the AppsLib site. The A5S (#7501) was tested with a 5-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and FM transmitter/receiver.
Let’s clear the air real quick. Ed Hardy is one of the godfathers of modern tattooing and he learned from the best, Sailor Jerry. Christian Audigier, on the other hand, is a big douche. He whored out Kenny Howard aka Von Dutch (even though the guy was a drunk and racist) and now he’s done the same with Ed Hardy over the last few years.
It’s a shame, really. The mysterious MID running Android that’s been popping up over the last two weeks has finally been caught on video. It looks and runs wonderfully, but it’s just a concept from Chinese chipmaker Rockchip. The device was built to showcase Rockchip’s new RK2808 720p-decoding chipset. It’s unfortunate that the 5-inch MID is only a one-off. Check out the two videos of it in action after the jump.
Remember those wicked RE: The Darkside Chronicle Zombie tees that Capcom was giving away at Comic-Con earlier this year? We didn’t make it to San Diego either. But because we kick ass, the fine folks at Capcom have hooked us up with five zombie tees to give away.
Sorry for the delay, kids. It’s been a little busy around CG HQ. Without further ado, here are the winners of the Target exclusive Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Superion action figure. Check your inbox! Thanks to everyone for entering and we’ll be sure to team up with Target and Hasbro again in the future to give away more Transformers.
Metroid was probably my most favorite game in the mid to late 90s for the NES and today, Nintendo released Metroid Prime: Trilogy for the Wii. Announced back at E3 in June, Metroid 3: Corruption is packed together with Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes all of which is encased a shiny blue metal case. M3 brings updated motion controls and widescreen (16:9) to the Wii. It’s available now for $50.
I’ll save you the trouble of having to read a full review of Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2, folks. It stinks just like Part 1 stunk. Both parts are ridiculously repetitive and there’s only so much you can take of Rorschach hitting a guy in the nuts, head butting another and breaking some dude’s arm. There’s also the incessant repetitiveness of having Nite Owl lifting a garage door so that Rorschach can get through.
Really? All this over a snuff film, Rorschach? The gameplay is lackluster and the storyline makes it marginally tolerable. At least it comes with the Blu-ray Director’s Cut of the movie, which is visually appealing if nothing else.
I recently reviewed the Comics app by ComiXology and criticized them for lack of content, but they’ve added over 50 new comics. Who has pie on their face? Me! Check out the first three pages over at ComiXology to see what’s new.
IREX’s 8.1-inch touchscreen eReader is set to launch later this year and today they’ve announced that Barnes & Noble will be providing more than 750,000 titles when it hits the market. That is all.
According to a Toys R Us snippet sent in to Shack, for a limited time tomorrow morning, the giant toy retailer will be offering Rewards R Us members with a $30 gift card when purchasing Batman: Arkham Asylum. If you can’t make it down to your local TRU store tomorrow between 10AM and 2PM then you’ll just have to deal with the $20 gift card. That’s one hell of a deal for a wicked awesome game.
I’m not sure where to even begin. In the months leading up to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, I made the decision to avoid all trailers for the movie and opt out of all hands on demos of the game. I knew the movie was going to suck, but I had a glimmer of hope that the game might actually turn out OK. Turns out I was wrong. The only Hasbro-licensed video game worth a damn this year is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Why EA and Hasbro even bothered to release this piece is beyond my comprehension. Tie-ins are plenty these days and make sense, but this was downright atrocious.
Oh, you’re still here?
Really?
All right then – it’s not like I didn’t warn you. Read More
The US press won’t be getting their mitts on Sony’s latest eReader until tomorrow in NYC, but our friends to the north have been slobbering over the PRS-600 for the last few days. Verdict: wicked fast page turns, but too much glare. Hit the jump for a side-by-side comparison with the 505. Read More
Speaking to the Times Online at GamesCom, Sony head Kazuo Hirai confirmed that Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Project Natal is set for a spring launch next year.
I’m inclined to believe that this Android-powered MID is not the SMiT MID-560. Why? Well, because I doubt RIM has jumped on board to create an Android touchscreen device. It could be the Archos device that is set to launch next month or it could be something entirely different. For now, it remains a mystery.
Netbooknews recently took a trip to Kingston’s Hsinchu factory and caught the entire process of making and packaging a USB drive on camera. Please try to contain your excitement.
So, the other week Game Informer published the results of a reader poll that found the Xbox 360 has a 54 percent failure rate. In typical PR fashion, Microsoft sent along the following statement to TG Daily defending the awesomeness of the Xbox 360 console.
According to this screen capture that was sent to Giz, Bose is slated to make four new product announcements over the next four weeks starting tomorrow. I wonder what they could be.
