Virgin America rolling out Gogo Wi-Fi service on November 22

November 5th, 2008

Our buds over at Jaunted just gave us the heads up that Virgin America will begin rolling out Aircell’s Gogo service, which we reviewed back in August, on November 22. The “beta” flight will take off from SFO, VA’s HQ, to JFK. Virgin plans to roll out the in-flight broadband service on one plane per [...]

American Airlines: no airporn for you!

October 9th, 2008

Sorry, people. The dream is over. American Airlines has decided that it, along with Delta (and the flight attendants), does not want porn on its flights — despite receiving no complaints whatsoever. Say they:
Based on the feedback of our customers and employees, American Airlines is working with Aircell(R) to implement technology to filter pornographic content [...]

Delta Airlines will filter in-flight Internet access after all

October 3rd, 2008

While Delta initially said it had no plans to filter Web sites from its in-flight broadband offerings, complaints have caused the airline to change its mind. When the service launches later this, Delta will block inappropriate Web sites, thus saving humanity from itself.
A Delta spokesperson says the filtering will be limited in scope, he didn’t [...]

Air Canada to use Gogo Wi-Fi for international flights

September 9th, 2008

Canadian travelers will soon be able to emulate their favorite CrunchGear blogger, Peter Ha, as they glom on to Aircell’s Gogo wireless internet service aboard their next international Air Canada flight. You’ll recall that Sweet Pete recently blogged from 37,000 feet using Gogo service aboard American Airlines. What fun we all had!
You’ll have to wait [...]

VoIP calls on Aircell’s Gogo? Big deal, seriously.

August 28th, 2008

So you’ve found a way to make VoIP calls on American Airlines flights with Gogo by using some Flash-based service? Good for you, really, but anyone saying that they’ve hacked the system needs to reassess the meaning of the term. Stumbling upon an app that works is not hacking anything. It’s called being lucky. I [...]

Flight attendants on in-flight porn usage

August 26th, 2008

Now that in-flight internet is becoming a normal option, a certain taboo activity is popping up more and more during those long, lonely flights. A few airlines have taken the issue upon themselves to lock down certain themed sites but that doesn’t rule out already downloaded material. Then other airlines, such as American Airlines, are offering unfiltered service and [...]

Review: Aircell’s Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi

August 21st, 2008

I know Mossberg ‘reviewed’ the service a while back, but he was on the plane by himself with a cornucopia of devices. That’s not a real world situation. I was skeptical of the whole thing like most of you were, but after yesterday I’m completely sold. It’s not earth shattering or anything. I mean, it’s [...]
