Trust fund babies have another gigantic HDTV option now that Runco is shipping the VW-100HD. The rear-projection system has the look of a plasma when installed but at a dramatically lower price of $39,995 - Panasonic’s 103-inch plasma runs nearly twice that. Installation is where it gets a tad hairy though.

It takes a special pad for the GenevaSound Home Theater credenza to look right in but my goodness, if it can be pulled off, wow. The $3,999 stand has a 2.1 audio system within with a 12-inch sub, front and center. 700 watts powers the whole system and a CD player, radio receiver, along with the standard [...]

The new 55″ VF550XVT1A (catchy) LCD TV from Vizio looks like it’s got all the features that make buying a new TV worthwhile. With the Smooth Motion Video 120Hz refresh rate feature, this TV should look like the business if it’s anything like similar models I’ve seen. It also has SRS TruSurround HD, an incorporated [...]

Funai has been in the news a lot lately with taking over Philips home theater biz and developing new LCD technology, but the companies recent lawsuit is extremely notable. This is a trend, turning garages into home theaters? Might as well, right—the car business won’t be around much longer, so you’ll need to do something else with all that space.
To that end, Electronic House has put together a small gallery of some of the best garage home theaters money can buy.
I liked this [...]

The Universal Remote Control Digital R50 universal remote takes the best of today’s remotes and makes the setup even easier without PC setup. The remote can still do all the goodie macro themes but everything is setup on the remote without a PC or an Internet connection required. Still, if you have ever setup a [...]

Peter has checked 3M’s MPro110 projectorette out and he says it’s pretty great. It displays up to 1280×768 (via VGA or RCA cable) at a size up to 50″, but with such a small light source that’s probably pushing it. The LED bit is said to last 10,000 hours, which isn’t saying much (that’s just [...]

We all knew that eventually Blu-ray would hit the home theater in a box market and while the Pioneer LX010BD isn’t the first, it seems well equipped. For £2000 ($3,137 USD) British AV snobs will be rock’n out to 5.1 audio sound out of dodecahedron compact speakers (it means 12-sided shape, playboy) that claim to produce omni-directional sound [...]
