Field Emission Technologies, a Sony affiliate, is preparing to mass-produce a new kind of flat panel starting 2009. Sony owns 37.8 percent of the company.
The so-called FEDs (field emission displays) offer higher picture quality than LCDs. Backlighting FEDs is not necessary so that they are said to be twice as energy-efficient as LCDs. While Sony’s [...]

Given the excitement about the iPhone 2, the suppositions that carriers are getting huge shipments, and idea that hundreds of media are currently running around with the IP2 as we speak, surreptitiously shooting pictures of our underwear with the phone’s 12-megapixel X-Ray camera, I thought I’d take a moment to [...]

Now we just need the [...]

Sony’s extremely expensive 11-inch OLED TV that landed stateside earlier this year claims a lifespan of 30,000 hours or 10 years, but DisplaySearch says otherwise. The research firm tested two XEL-1 TVs for 1,000 hours and estimates that the organic light-emitting diode set would fizzle out after 17,000 hours.
“The results demonstrate that the [...]

Well, LG undouched itself, we interviewed iRobot’s Colin Angle, and we took tasteful pictures of the ladies of CES. We’re tired, hung over, and we had a great meet-up with a few cool guys (Say “Hi!” to the inmates for us, Paul!) at the Monte Carlo. We’re happy.

Not a lot of info on this one, but you have to see it to believe it. The thing is about as thick as a laptop screen, and the picture is stunning. It’s sharp as hell and the contrast was excellent. Considering the little ones (as opposed to this ~24-in. guy) are going to cost [...]
