Sprint: HTC Touch, Samsung Ace both drop to $100
by Doug Aamoth on July 14, 2008

sprint

The HTC Touch and the Samsung Ace are both going for $100 (after a $100 mail in rebate) on Sprint. You could also get the red-hot new Samsung Instinct for just thirty bucks more, but let’s try to stay focused here. We’ve reviewed both the Touch and the Ace and, for $100, you could do much, much worse. That’s not a bad price at all.

Hey, have you been patiently waiting for the HTC Touch to be released as part of Sprint’s Q4 offerings? Well, it’ll be here pretty soon.

The phone "will be priced at $249.99 with a two-year subscriber agreement and a $100 mail-in rebate." I’m pretty sure that means that it’ll cost $250 after rebate but these slick-willy PR people have made an ass of me plenty of times in the past.

Sprint-exclusive content will include access to the Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV, streaming radio (including Sirius), and on-demand "sports, weather, news, money and more customized by zip code."

Taken from the top of the Eye
Greetings CG readers from Merry Olde England. I’ve been in London for almost a week now and thought I’d say hello. I’ve enjoyed every minute of my trip so far including the usual tourist traps like Big Ben/Parliament, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace. I’m in absolute heaven with football coverage everywhere I look. Believe it or not the weather has been quite pleasant and the sun being the elusive bugga that it is has even come out to play.

So you’re probably wondering how any of this is relevant to the usual rants you love to read from the Gear, but it is. Trust me. I’m not subjecting myself to 8 percent ABV beverages, people with funny accents and ungodly amounts of Fish & Chips and black pudding for fun. Oh noes. I’m here to bring you folks hot and exclusive news from Nokia. Starting tomorrow I’ll be showing you some new products you may or may not have heard of from the Finnish giant. Stay tuned, but in the meantime check out a few pics from my trip so far.

Slide 2 Unlock: Slide To Unlock Any Pocket PC
by Nicholas Deleon on June 8, 2007

One of the many revolutionary features of the iPhone, oh, excuse me, the Jesus Phone, is “slide to unlock,” whereby the user slides his or her digit across the screen to unlock the phone. Now, thanks to the freeware app called Slide 2 Unlock. It works on an Pocket PC phone and gives it the same “slide to unlock” capability. It’s essentially a glorified screensaver, but since anything even remotely related to the iPhone is “in” these days, it can’t hurt to mention it.

Oh, and Vince just yelled at me, telling me that the HTC Touch also has a “slide to unlock” feature. Sheer madness!
