Hello Kitty

The Hello Kitty Music Player Crystal, made in cooperation with luxury brand Swarovski, I blogged about in October drew the attention of quite a few (mostly female) CrunchGear readers. One of the problems was the price: $150 for a fairly basic music player isn’t cheap. But now Japan-based Mouse Computer, in cooperation with iriver Japan, is offering a similar device. And their so-called Hello Kitty Music Player Premium [JP] is less expensive.

Hello Kitty is 35 years old now, and she still continues to be the dream cartoon cat of millions of teenage girls. If you’re one of these people and have a penchant for gadgets on top of that, this new and strictly limited music player might be the right thing for you. The so-called Hello Kitty Music Player Crystal [JP] is the result of a cooperation between iriver Japan, Hello Kitty company Sanrio and luxury brand Swarovski Crystal.

Japan is heaven on earth for fans of cute gadgets. In the case of mega-popular cartoon cat Hello Kitty, the country offers Kitty-branded notebooks, USB flash drives, a ventilator and even a photo printer. And today, major Japanese telecommunications company SoftBank announced another Hello Kitty gadget, the PhotoVision HW001 KT [JP] (a digital photo frame).

Sanrio, the company behind the dream of millions of teenage girls around the world, cartoon cat Hello Kitty, is to celebrate the cat’s 35th birthday on November 1st. Reason enough to team up with design USB flash drive maker Mimoco and give us the Hello Kitty X Mimobot, quite possibly the cutest USB stick out there.

The dream of millions of teenage girls around the world, Sanrio’s Hello Kitty, gets yet another notebook in Japan. This time, the cartoon cat is supposed to boost sales of an Epson model, the Endeavor NJ2150 in “pearl white”. It will be available in two different versions.

We blogged about a number of particularly cute digital photo frames in the past, but this Hello Kitty model beats them all. Announced in Japan by Sanrio [JP] today (Sanrio is the corporation behind the cartoon cat), the device goes on sale in Nippon on May 31. There will be two variations.

There is a big number of gadgets available that feature Hello Kitty, the super-cute cartoon cat and love of millions of teenagers worldwide. There are Hello Kitty-branded digital cameras, alarm clocks, cell phones and even notebooks. Until today, only a ventilator was missing. Not anymore.

Sanrio, the company behind Hello Kitty, has started selling a mini ventilator that’s shaped like Hello Kitty’s head [JP] on Monday. The Japanese street price for the device is $27. Contact the Japan Trend Shop, Gizmine, Geek Stuff 4 U or Rinkya if you live outside Japan and want to make your female friend or yourself happy.

Hello Kitty, the cutest cartoon cat in the world and dream of millions of (mostly) Asian teenage girls, celebrates her 35th birthday soon. Reason enough for Sanrio, the Japan-based company behind Hello Kitty, and luxury brand Swarovski Crystal to produce a Hello Kitty figure of a very special kind.

I covered quite a few alarm clocks with annoying features from Japan in the past months, i.e. one that’s shaped like a railroad crossing sign, one that wakes sleepers with helicopter engine sounds and Bandai’s brilliant Gun o’ Clock.

But none of these devices is as cute as the Hello Kitty Action Alarm Clock, today announced by Sanrio (the company behind the ultrapopular character) in Japan.

In the CrunchGear chat room this morning we were talking about exercise. Someone linked to Hundred Push Ups, and issued a challenge to see how many push ups we could each do. We postured and boasted and tried to convince one another that blogging had not gone to our bellies. Thankfully we were quickly distracted by a Hello Kitty weight loss gadget.

Following KDDI, Japan’s No.3 telecommunications company SoftBank today also presented the new cell phone line-up for this spring. The company presented a total of nine models and will start selling the first handset of the line-up (the Panasonic 930P) from tomorrow.

The end of the world has come early, friends. FunMobillity has finagled their way into Sanrio’s good graces and unleashed Hello Kitty for the iPhone. For five whole dollars you can get 50 wallpapers of the 35-year-old cat from Japan. The real shocker here is that it took this long for HK to make her way into the App Store. Why didn’t Sanrio just do this themselves?

by Serkan Toto on January 12, 2009

I am not really sure if this is really a product licensed by Sanrio, the company behind uber cartoon cat Hello Kitty, but this “branded” handset looks kind of cool.

Tokyo-based Exemode is selling a new digital camera [JP] that has been designed with French design company Courrèges and Japanese toy giant Sanrio. The 5.17 million megapixel camera features the cutest cat in the universe, Hello Kitty.

The device comes with the following specs: 4x digital zoom, CMOS sensor, one USB 1.1. port, 32MB of internal memory, compatibility to SD memory cards (up to 1GB) and a 2.4 inch LCD screen. I don’t know why but the camera is not available in pink, only in white and red.

Seiko has announced a new Hello Kitty alarm clock, which triples as a thermometer and a hand mirror. The compact device (92×32×80mm) will go on sale in Japan this week.

It will wake you up with three different chimes. Kitty says (in Japanese):
- “It’s Kitty! You are still sleeping? If you oversleep, I will get angry!”
- “Good morning! This is Kitty’s morning call! Wake up!”
- “Puuhh, good morning. I am sleepy, too, but we have to wake up! Come on, come on!”

Here is yet another Hello Kitty-powered device from Japan. This time, Canon used the character to spice up its Selphy CP770 [JP], a portable photo printer. While the printer itself is available outside Japan (i.e. in the USA where it costs about $150), this special edition will most likely remain Nippon-only.

Technically, Canon didn’t change anything at all. You still get a 2.5-inch LCD, a red-eye correction option, PictBridge and Canon Direct Print support and compatibility to SD/miniSD/MMC/RS-MMC/MS/MS Duo/Compact Flash memory cards.
