Assassin’s creed
by Peter Ha on April 16, 2009

Well, the teaser site launched a week ago and we’ve known about the sequel for a long time, but today, Ubisoft “officially” announced Assassin’s Creed 2. And it’s coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for the holiday 2009 season. Hit the jump for the complete breakdown from this month’s Game Informer and the second teaser trailer.

Big thanks to Mark D. for the GI article.

Ubisoft is not amused about the 700,000-some copies of Assassin’s Creed that spread like wildfire around the web six weeks before the game was available at retail stores. Ubisoft has tracked the initial leak back to Optical Experts Manufacturing, the company in charge of producing copies of the game for sale. It was found that an employee of the company had taken the game home and leaked it out onto the internet, which Ubisoft called “an extraordinary breach of trust and gross negligence.”

Assassin’s Creed PC Qs and As

I’m playing this right now, and I can tell you that it’s pretty tight. Per this IGN report, they’ve added a few new mission types (I wouldn’t know since I didn’t play the 360 version), tweaked the AI a bit, and they say that it actually runs faster in DirectX 10, which was certainly not the case with, well, any other game I’ve ever played. I can believe it actually, because it actually runs quite well on my rig, and buddy, it looks fantastic. You can read the story at IGN if you want, but there’s not a lot more than what I’ve just told you.

I like AC as much as the next guy, but I’m not so sure I’d want to play it on my DS. It looks better than I expected, but it’s not really doing it for me. Yay or nay?

Assassin’s Creed selling like hotcakes

videogame_assassin.jpgUbisoft makes killer games and there’s no doubt about that so is it any wonder that Assassin’s Creed is boosting the French publisher’s sales outlook for 2007-08? It’s sold more than 2.5 million copies in under four weeks and Ubi expects to sell at least five million, which is two more than they expected. Really, Ubi? You didn’t think it was going to sell that well? I sure as heck wasn’t going to wait around for Prince of Persia. That was fun when I was, like, five. AC blows that out of the water. Sure, it’s no Halo 3 in terms of sales, but it’s doing a darn good job of flying off the shelves for a game with no cult following. Time for me to take a break and play some more AC.

Assassin’s Creed video review
by Doug Aamoth on November 13, 2007

GameTrailers.com has a good video review of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited about this game. GT’s basic view is that the game is gorgeous and innovative, albeit a bit repetitive and with a less-than-stellar enemy AI. "Assassin’s Creed breaks new ground but fails at nailing some fundamentals."
