Details of the Nokia E62 have been circulating for some time now, but some more specifics were announced this morning. It’s being touted as a primary competitor to the highly popular Motorola Q. The E62 features a full QWERTY keyboard and a 16 million color, 320 x 240 resolution screen. It is compatible with many mobile emailing options as well as POP3, IMAP and SMTP. It also comes preloaded with several IM applications.
Users will also be able to view, edit and create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. And it features Nokia’s S60 browser. Unfortunately, it does not support HSDPA or UMTS, but it’s pretty hot anyway. It will be available for “as low as $149″ on September 29.

Cingular

It looks like I might have found my next phone. Cingular will be offering the Samsung SGH i607 in Q3. This UMTS/HSDPA equipped handset runs Windows Mobile 5 OS and it is said to be particularly capable of handling xCSS and enhanced-xHTML. It also features a standard 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a 64k TFT display with a resolution of 320 x 240. In addition to all of that, it supports AMR, MIDI, MP3, AAC, AAC+, MPEG4, H.263 and Real formats. No word on pricing, but it should be available soon.

HTC released today four new smartphones to round out its Q4 offerings. All of the phones run Windows Mobile 5 and each of them offer slightly different features:
HTC S620 – HTC’s new, super slim form factor with integrated QWERTY keyboard: perfect for email and messaging
HTC P3300 – HTC’s first dedicated navigation PDA with in-built GPS and complete with TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 software
HTC P3600 – HTC’s next generation multimedia compact PDA with 3G connectivity and HSDPA-ready
HTC S310 – a small yet powerful messaging and internet smartphone for both business and consumer use
With the recent TyTN update to Cingular’s 8125, it looks like HTC is trying to corner the smartphone market. I can’t say I’m too happy with my Cingular 8125, so here’s hoping these phones work a lot better.

Earlier today, you read about some new pics of a purported Treo 750 caught in the wild. We can confirm that this is indeed a version the Treo 750, though it’s unclear if it’s the same 750 as the “Lennon” that is coming to Cingular in October, or if it’s the rumored 750v, which is the Euro-only version. The “Lennon” (likely to be named the 750w) we know will include WiFi, but it’s unknown if this device will include UMTS and class 10 EDGE. Rounding out the 750 offerings is the “Nitro”, a PalmOS based 750 (probably the 750p) with similar stats, better resolution (320×320), and no WiFi.
What we have learned is that on a features-front, the value from included software on these smartphones is pretty impressive. The usual suite of Windows Mobile apps will be included, including Office document reading and writing. In addition, look for pTunes, the excellent Mp3/WMA/internet radio app, and MobiTV. For the latter a seperate subscription will be likely, but the carriers may find a way to subsidize this. We’ll likely find out more in two weeks, when Palm has announced that they’ll make an announcement. You read that correctly. It almost makes a wormhole of PR hype.
We also know that the camera on the first edition will be the same as the current Treos, at 1.3 Megapixels, and the resolution will likely remain at 240×240.
