Remember the Dexter iPhone game that was announced way back in March of 2008? We barely do. In any case, Speck will be releasing a Dexter-themed iPhone case when the game supposedly launches later this summer. If you’re interested in seeing the latest trailer and screenshots that were revealed at Comic-Con then hop on over to MobileCrunch for the full scoop.

WTH is that all about? Dexter does not flail around and that ending is rather disturbing. Hit the jump for the trailer.

Rumblings of a Dexter iPhone game emerged last March and Icarus Studios is still twirling on its thumb a year later. We just got word that it will hit the App Store this summer.

Details on Dexter game for the iPhone

I have no idea what the heck Marc Ecko is doing pimping video games, but I cannot wait for Dexter to come out for the iPhone. It is, after all, one of the best TV shows out at the moment. Icarus Studios will be developing the “investigative” game that will require you to do some CSI-style work and then decide whether or not you will be hacking the victim or taking them to court. To be honest this press release is sort of a joke. I mean, how else would you develop this game? He’s a serial killer that goes after criminals who have slipped through the system. Kind of a no-brainer.

DEXTER is the story of Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Department who is secretly a serial killer who hunts down people who have escaped justice. The iPhone videogame based on DEXTER is a mystery game emphasizing investigation and problem solving – the player will analyze crime scenes, uncover evidence, and choose which brand of justice best suits the situation: the courts or the ìDark Passengerî. The effectiveness of every choice and interaction revolves around the Code of Harry: only kill the guilty, maintain the Mask, and, above all, donít get caught! The game is now in development with Icarus Studios, a company that is leading the way in massively multiplayer online games, virtual worlds, and mobile entertainment experiences.

Showtime’s Dexter coming to an iPhone/iPod Touch as an “episodic” game
by Peter Ha on July 25, 2008

dexter season 3

Showtime’s Dexter is arguably one of the greatest shows on television as of late and it happens to be one of my favorites, too. So I’m happy to announce, or at the very least, inform you all that Dexter will soon be coming to an iPhone/iPod Touch near you, says Marc Ecko. TV Squad was on hand on at Comic Con for the panel and learned a few more details.

It’ll include using SMS, gestures, phone calls, and be an “episodic” game.

I will actually pay for this game when it comes out. I also can’t wait for the season premiere.

Showtime’s serial killer drama “Dexter” to be made into worthless game

“Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter’s morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love.”
Actually, since Dexter is a psychopath, his world is very much not complex morally. Since I assume you’d be playing the titular antihero, the very idea of the game is flawed, since the players’ emotions basically allow them to “cheat,” since they know the correct response in social situations. Unless it’s a game where the object is to emulate psychopathy, I don’t think it will be either true to the show (which is surprisingly good) or, if history is our guide, a good game. What are they going to try to game-ize next, The Wire?
