Oh, Nokia N97. I wanted to touch you from the first time I laid eyes on you. You seemed like everything I wanted in a handset. You’d be the phone that surmounted the shortcomings of every smartphone before it. You were to be the mobile masterpiece. At least, I thought you were.
I’ve had the Nokia N97 for roughly 3 weeks now. Usually, we push out our reviews after just a week or so with the device – but I just couldn’t bring myself to sit down and review this one. Why? Because I thought I was missing something. There just had to be something I was overlooking – some setting, some application, just something that would earn this handset its pre-allotted spot in my pocket.
I wasn’t missing anything.

We knew it was coming and sure enough, the Nokia N97 is now available for $700 at Nokia Stores everywhere. 700 bones will net you Nokia’s flagship touchscreen device, unlocked and ready to make iPhones jealous everywhere. Well, maybe not the last part, but it’s still a solid device and worthy successor to the N95/N96.

Yes, the rumors are true: Nokia will start shipping its N97 device (they call it a mobile computer) to no less than 75 countries this month, after starting to accept pre-orders earlier last month. In the second half of 2009, Nokia plans to start rolling out a bunch of new features and functions, but right off the bat it will be the first device to come with the recently launched Ovi Store. We hope the experience is better than the actual launch.
Nokia hasn’t detailed exactly which countries will start seeing N97 shipments roll in, but it’s safe to say they will most likely include most of the European markets, as well as North America.

Do you need a Nokia phone? Sure, we all do. Good thing the new N97 fold-out superphone from the Nok is coming out on June 2 for about $699, at least according to some US retailers.
The Nokia N97 is almost here, but those that can’t wait to fork cash over to Nokia can now opt for a pre-order. There seems to be some sort of fire sale going on too ’cause Nokia has the flagship unlocked handset marked down $174 and coupon code CARTP409N brings the price down to $454.
The talented shutterbugs at the FCC recently got their hands on a sexy Nokia N97 ahead of the phones US release. Not only did the government suits photograph a previously unannounced color scheme, but also published all the details about the phone. We kind of already know most about the phone after spying it at Nokia World ‘08 last December. Really, all we wanna know about is Nokia’s upcoming app store, ovi, which isn’t discussed within the government filling.

I’ve just left the Nokia World 2008 keynote, in which the new products and services were announced, like the Nokia N97, Nokia Maps, and Nokia Messaging. The presentation was interesting, and highlights Nokia’s vision for mobile communications. Read on for a quick summary and some thoughts.

Introducing the Nokia N97, the next generation high-end mobile phone from Nokia. Described by Nokia folks as a “handheld computer” this device is a pretty comfortable high-end phone. It has a digital compass, a 1500 milliamp battery, and DVD quality video capture. Hold the phone Nokia (HA! Finally I made that joke work), are you really releasing the N97? Seriously, rumors are flying around that Nokia’s new N97 phone is real and slowly making it’s way into people’s hands as a prototype. Mobile Whack has some hot pictures of one sexy phone, but are they real? The rumored specs on this baby are insane: huge 3” display, 20GB internal memory w/ miniSD card slot, and a 5MP camera with 20x zoom. Impossible? Certainly not. But we’ll take this one with a grain of salt until we see some concrete evidence. If these photos are indeed real, the phone seems to have a keypad similar to the N93 and dedicated music playback buttons. Keep dreaming folks, move along, nothing to see here…yet.
