Surprise! New Nikon cameras! Oh, yeah, these cameras already leaked out yesterday like Nikon cameras tend to do as of late. The only thing not announced was the US price, but our estimates were pretty darn close. Read More

The Nikon D300s, at $1800, represents a good option for serious prosumer photographers who don’t want or need a full-frame camera like the 5D mkII. Now that it shoots video, it’s an even more serious contender — but does it have the same rolling shutter/skew/jell-o-vision as the D90 and other DSLR video? Check out these two videos and see for yourself.

The Nikon S1000PJ projector camera leaks out along with three other Coolpix models

We always knew that Nikon was a leaking ship, adrift in the digital camera sea, but this latest leak proves it. Why bother with embargos and NDAs when most of the info leaks out early anyway. First, it was the D5000, then the D300s and now all these Coolpix cameras that aren’t official yet. This is what we know so far though. Read More

We heard there was a “groundbreaking” announcement incoming from Nikon next week, but no one was quite sure what it was. Speculation was leaning towards a point-and-shoot with a built-in pico projector, and… it still is. Info from some insiders lends a little more weight to the hypothesis, and even… a code name.

by Devin Coldewey on August 1, 2009

While “groundbreaking” isn’t technically on our list of words companies need to stop using so much, I think it still counts as being one. After all, practically every feature in every camera that gets put out these days is touted as being revolutionary in some way, and very few are even evolutionary. But hey, maybe this announcement really will be groundbreaking!

We got a call from Nikon earlier, and they laid out for us what we know was coming: the new entry-level D3000 and prosumer D300s. We’ve known these were coming for months now, and as it turns out, the specs that were leaked a while ago were exactly on target. You’re leaking, Nikon!

So what do these things have to offer? Read More

So apparently the Nikon D5000 DSLR has a small problem where it doesn’t always turn on. Nikon has just issued a service advisory where the company address the issue.

nikon-d300s-1Nikon runs a leaky ship, that’s for sure. The D300s is following the same path that the D5000 blazed. The upcoming DSLR is set to launch shorty according to a leaked release schedule, but here she is. I’m sure it’s safe to say that the D300s is the real deal at this point.

Rumor: Nikon’s 2009-2010 roadmap

Nikon Rumors may or may not have Nikon’s 2009-2010 product roadmap, but we kind of hope what it’s the real thing. It’s loaded with six upcoming DSLRs and tons of lens, including the D3000 and D300s being announced on August 4th just like we thought. Then next year we should see the rumored D4 with the D4x coming later in the year, along with the D400 and a Coolpix model that sports a DX sensor. We sure have our fingers crossed that this list pans out.

Well, well. We told you that Nikon was going to launch two DSLR cameras this summer. These two are probably them and we need to point out that Nikon is getting good “leaking” pics of unannounced cameras. The last time around, everyone and their brother knew about the D5000 before it was official. This time we’re seeing the D300swhich we already know about – and the also unannounced D3000.

by Matt Burns on June 18, 2009

It seems that Nikon has scheduled press conferences for both July 30 and August 4. We hear that a new DSLR will be a announced at each presser. The D300s is a given, with its SD card slot and 720p24 recording, but what’s the other DSLR?

If you’re the type that simply must have the latest gadget the day it comes our – you know who you are – then head on over to Amazon to pre-order the articulating screen-equipped and HD video shooting Nikon D5000. Only the kit is available for purchase, but we hear the 18-55mm F.3.5-5.6G VR lens isn’t that bad anyway. $849.

The D5000 was just an Internet rumor 24 hours ago. Nikon went official with the high-end entry-level DSRL late last night and we are already seeing images from the camera.

by Devin Coldewey on April 14, 2009

Yes, dear readers, the D5000 we’ve all suspected existed (as late as tonight, look two posts down), does indeed. Nikon’s new high-end consumer DSLR has hit, and it looks like a serious contender with its wealth of features and sub-$1000 price point. It’s not going to walk on water or anything, but it makes for a very compelling alternative to, for example, my own Canon Rebel XSi.

Head on inside for details on Nikon’s latest DSLR.

by Devin Coldewey on April 13, 2009

Well, the rumors about the D5000 have been flying fast and furious, and now it looks like someone at the leak factory let some pictures out a bit early — “early,” that is, if this camera from Nikon is going to debut at their press event tomorrow as we believe. As you can see, there’s a 2.7-inch swivel screen (swiveling from the middle, oddly). But that’s not its only trick if rumors are to be believed.

Head on through for the rest of the pics.

by John Biggs on April 13, 2009

This looks like something that may or may not be a future D5000 SLR with bigger flash, microphone (for video) and maybe even full frame sensor. Kor krikey!

We’ve been following this yeti for some time now and it seems that NikonRumor’s rumors are coming true. To recap, they thought the D5000 would drop during PMA.

Update: More pics and release date revealed.
Update 2: We have specs and maybe the price.

by Matt Burns on April 6, 2009

OMG. It seems that the rest of the internet has finally caught wind of the upcoming Nikon DSLR and is currently climaxing over some spy shots of said camera. The supposed spy shots do not reveal much of the D60’s successor (perhaps called the D5000) we haven’t covered over the last few months with the exception of what appears to be a movable, and perhaps live, LCD screen. That is, of course, if these spy shots are real.

Andrew Disney’s “Searching for Sonny” hopes to be the first feature film shot entirely with a Canon 5d Mark II. If the teaser trailer is any indication of things to come then Disney might have an indie film worth watching. According to his Vimeo page, cameraman Jeffrey Waldron mostly used a Nikon 50mm lens for the teaser with a Canon body. A full trailer shot with the Canon 5d Mark II is expected to drop on April 15.

Gather ye ’round for what could be the first almost-photo of the Nikon D400, first spotted on Nikon’s German Web site. This almost-photo—there’s no photo of the camera itself, but rather the telltale question mark of an imagine that didn’t properly load in a Web browser—does list the key specs, however. How does 15.3-megapixel CMOS sensor sound to you? Or an ISO range of 200 to 6400? Or maybe the Full HD video capture mode is more your style?
