Rumor

Now, I can’t attest to the legitimacy of this spec list leaked by PhotoRumors, but let’s take a gander at what the GX-30 is purportedly equipped with. Assuming you understand the relationship that Samsung has with Pentax then one would assume that the GX-30 is simply a clone of the recently announced K-7. But is the GX-30 just that? A clone?

The Mole, as Ars affectionately refers to its gaming industry insider, has once again struck with a ‘rumor’ detailing Microsoft and Sony’s plans for their respective consoles this year. In case you’re super busy this Monday morning, I’ll break it down for you real quick. Expect to see bigger hard drives in the Xbox 360 and a slimmed down version of the PS3.

by Matt Burns on June 19, 2009

Hmmm. Are these the specs for the Canon 1D Mark IV? They all look right expect for the megapixel count. The rumor mentions a video mode, ISO up to 26,500, and a quicker overall speed. But the rumor states that the camera will be around 16MPs. That doesn’t make sense at all. The 1Ds Mark III and 5D Mark II both shoot at 21.1MP. Why would the the in between model have something different?

Does Sony dream of Android? The Japanese web is currently filling up with rumors about Sony preparing not one but two Android-based mobile devices. Both the Android-powered Walkman and a personal satellite navigation device are rumored to launch next year.

I just checked all Japanese news sources I could find reporting on the topic and the short answer is that the rumor seems to be true.

Got a hankering for some 20fps DSLR video but don’t have the scrilla to pick up a T1i? Well, you may be in luck, my comrade-in-poverty. Rumors are swirling that a stripped-down version of Canon’s consumer DSLR will find itself announced as early as June 9th.

The T1/2000D (why didn’t Canon standardize its names with this latest change?) will probably have about the same relationship to the T1i/500D as the XS/1000D has to the XSi/450D. Got that? Here it is in SAT form:

T1/200D:T1i/500D::XS/1000D:XSi/450D

Where’s my saltshaker?

Photo Rumors has been tipped off by a reliable source that Samsung plans to announce a new DSLR next month, the GX-30. Keeping in mind the relationship that Samsung has with Pentax, I’d assume it’s just a clone of the newly announced K-7 since the GX-20 was clone of the K20D with a few cosmetic differences.

Well, it’s not the news we were expecting but it looks like Best Buy will be getting a new PS3 bundle a week after E3. Already in the BB database is a limited edition 80GB PlayStation 3 bundle that includes two yet to be announced games.

If we are to believe an iLounge tipster, this is what the next iPod nano will look like. The screen ratio will change from 1.33:1 to 1.5:1. the click wheel will be shifted down and shrunk a bit. And yes, it will have a camera. All this in a less scratchable plastic (eww, plastic) matte body. The same tipster states that this new nano will be released with the iPod touch which should be sometime between July and September.

There’s a very interesting article over at TeamXbox.com detailing some information about a supposed portable gaming device that Microsoft’s been working on. This device will apparently fall somewhere in between the Xbox 360 and the Zune.

Praise jeebus! I knew this day was coming. Images of a purported T-Mobile 3G BlackBerry surfaced late last night, but it’s unclear whether it’s the rumored Onyx or Driftwood. If it is a T-Mobile device then it’s probably the Driftwood since it’s the only one that supposedly supports UMA. Contrary to what you see in the image, BGR says the Driftwood aka 9600 will have an optical trackpad and that it will drop some time in September.

Good evening, fellow earthlings. Before you jump into bed and get ready for the new week, I wanted to fill you in on some hot and juicy Palm Pre news. A tipster has informed us that the Palm Pre “Real Reviewer” units are shipping out this week. To be more specific, we’re told that reviewers should be getting them towards the end of the week or as early as Wednesday. In other words, expect to see a lot of Palm Pre ’sightings’ this week. Have a good night, ya’ll.

I’m just putting it out there, kids. Look at the zoomed in view of the E3 invite I just got from SplitFish. They don’t make anything that involves two controllers being flailed around. Unless, of course, you’re some sort of magician that can create hard surfaces for the FragFX mouse while you monkey around.

Update: See, kids, this is what happens when it’s a slow news day and your mind begins to wander. Those vivacious ladies in the SplitFish E3 invite are two of the Pussycat Dolls and they’re actually horsing around with v1 FragFX controllers. Kind of hard to tell, I know. That’s why SplitFish sent over images from the shoot. Check em out after the jump.

According to Cote Collaborative, AT&T is pondering a price cut on monthly service charges for iPhone owners when Apple will purportedly announce new hardware at WWDC in June.

Apparently Apple and AT&T are under enormous amounts of pressure to sell more iPhones and there’s a “strong possibility” of a $10/month discount on the entry-level $69 plan. If this is true then the overall discount on a two-year contract amounts to $240.

Have you wondered how a WiiWare developer makes money? Me either, but a friendly tip sent in by a developer to Kotaku reveals the magical number needed before they start seeing dough in their own pockets.

The numbers needed to turn a profit in NA is double that of Europe and also varies depending on how big the actual game is. Here is the breakdown according to Kotaku’s tipster:

Lending credence to the rumor that Sony is doing away with the UMD drive on the next PSP comes word, beit rumor, from Ars that Patapon 2 will only be released digitally next month. You can, however, pick up physical product at your local game shop, though. Or so says Ars’s mole. In total, there are three ways of getting Patapon 2 for your PSP.

Apple working on large touch tablet (we told you so), Jobs just working from home

Most of the WSJ article is dribble and a rehash of things we already know, but sources “familiar with the matter” are saying that Jobs is still leading the company from home. And that he has been instrumental in new product development and strategy like OS 3.0 for the iPhone.

by Peter Ha on April 11, 2009

According to a leaked memo that is supposedly going around Sprint retailers, the Palm Pre has two possible launch dates. Retailers are expected to receive shipments of the Pre in late April or early May and based on the initial batch of units, the Pre could launch on May 17. But if supplies are limited then the launch date could be delayed until June 29.
