As laser pointers go, you could do far worse than this little keychain Lightsaber. I mean think about it; if your job requires you to use a laser pointer, then you might as well have a cool one. And at $15, it’s not like this is a huge monetary investment. As an investment in your social standing amongst your peers, though, this thing ought to pay off in spades.

Despite cutting a impressive figure at 2.02 meters, having the finest weaponry and starfighters Imperial credits can buy, and controlling the Force, it seems that Darth Vader has gotten stuck on the side of the road.

Dave Prowse was the physical form of Darth Vader for the original Star Wars trilogy, with James Earl Jones as the voice. The BBC reports that Lord Vader was en route to the 501st UK Garrison’s (which ironically is dubbed “Vader’s Fist”) reunion at the National Space Center in Leicester when his car broke down. Traffic officers assisted Lord Vader in getting from the M1 in Northamptonshire to the event. Officer Chapman later remarked, “Meeting Darth Vader is definitely one of the strangest situations I’ve been in.”

The car that Lord Vader was driving also has a interesting bit of history to it. The Mercedes was previously owned by actor Kenny Baker. At only 1.12 Imperial standard meters (which are identical to Earth measurement units), Mr Baker was the man inside R2-D2 for the original trilogy. Lord Vader told the BBC, “He used to keep a little ladder inside the boot so he could climb up and put his suitcases inside. When he had finished, he’d put the ladder back and used a cord to shut the boot. I decided to leave the cord there as a reminder of the car’s previous owner.”

Okay, who here hasn’t played one of the Jedi Knight games? No one? That sounds ’bout right. Let me just say that the series is one of the best of all time. The story line rich, the graphics always top notch for their time, and it’s Star Wars. What’s not to like? Do you yourself a favor, throw on some trousers and hop onto Steam where you can buy the complete series for $20; most of us are buying it. Sure, a few of the games might be aged, but the latest one, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, doesn’t look terrible by today’s standards.

Look at these big-head Star Wars USB flash drives! They’re adorable. Ewoks were always adorable, and C-3PO had a certain lovable charm but now even Darth Vader’s getting in on the fun. He’ll lull you into a false sense of security and then do that thing where he chokes you from across the room without actually touching you.

If you happen to both be a Star Wars fan and have a penchant for Far Eastern food, this new gadget might be the right thing for you: lightsaber chopsticks. A Japanese company called Kotobukiya (which also has a US website) is selling three different models.

The red version is aimed at Darth Vader fans for some reason, the green one is for Yoda fans and the blue model is supposedly the right one if you like Luke Skywalker best.

Kotobukiya plans to sell the chopsticks in Japan only at this point (starting in November), but Geek Stuff 4 U lets everybody  living outside this country pre-order already (price: $14.42 plus shipping). And yes, you can eat with these things apparently.

As much I want the Force Trainer from Uncle Milton, the evil nerd in me would much rather have Darth Vader’s robotic arm instead!

The Force Trainer is pretty straight forward based on the video, but the Vader Robotic Arm is so much more intriguing. A total of 45 “snap-together” parts comprise the fully functional robotic arm.

Pre-orders on the $100 Force Trainer are scheduled to ship out on August 1, but the Vader arm is expected to be available tomorrow for $30. Check out the rest of Uncle Milton’s Star Wars Science wares here.

NO FAIR! This lucky whippersnapper surrounds himself with the intimidating protection of a Star Wars AT-AT Imperial Walker every night as he drifts off to sleep. And while it could be argued that the Rebel Alliance did indeed manage to destroy most or all of the AT-AT fleet, let’s just admire the handiwork here and pretend none of that ever happened.

If you’re thinking of going for the Father of the Year Award yourself, there aren’t any explicit instructions as to how to build one of these yourself although the project’s creator has posted the following video detailing many of the steps:

This is a loft bed I made for my son that resembles an AT-AT Imperial Walker.

I searched the Internet and found scale models, cakes, legos, baby strollers and costumes resembling an AT-AT, but never found a bed that resembled an AT-AT. So I made one.

Since it is made from materials readily available at Home Depot or Lowe’s, I thought I would post a video/slide show of photos I took during the build process.

So there you have it. A nice little weekend project for everyone. Maybe a few weekends.

Star Wars fans with ample desk space may want to pick up a cool six pack of bobble head figures over at Woot.com today. The site is selling all six for $30 plus $5 shipping.

It’s kind of a mixed bag — Luke, Han, Yoda, Tie Fighter Pilot; sure, great.

But Bossk and 4-Lom? Eh, kind of an odd couple of choices there. And Luke looks more like a skinny version of Kevin Sorbo than Mark Hamill. As long as you keep his head bobbling around, though, perhaps nobody will notice.

As for the blaster, another official Star Wars accessory being put out for the same game, I can’t say it looks very much like a Star Wars-type object. I guess the newer movies featured more gleaming white objects like this, but I much prefer the blaster you had in Dark Forces and Jedi Knight. Those were, of course, not actual real objects with real-life limitations, but still.

The game and attachments will be available September 15. Begun, the accessory wars have.

We’ve seen these flash drives from Mimico before, but the fourth run on the Star Wars series has been updated with “Unmasked” versions of Darth Vader and Clone Captain Rex. One in six Unmasked Mimobot Vaders will reveal Hayden Christensen’s Anakin face while the rest feature the Anakin we’re used to from Episode VI. Mimico will reveal a Luke Skywalker Unmasked Darth Vader Mimobot in July at Comic Con, which will only be available during the show and limited to 500 units. And then there’s Rex from the Clone Wars animated series.

Why can’t the movies be like the Star Wars games?

Shipping this Fall for the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS is Lucas Arts’ latest installment in the Star Wars Battlefront series, Elite Squadron. Players can now engage in battle on foot and then take to the skies to continue the fight with every shot fired affecting the outcome of each battle on every front.

You’ll traverse the Star Wars galaxy as X2, a clone trooper with Jedi Master roots, who opts to give the Empire the bird and join the Rebellion. X2’s clone brother X1 decides to take his Force-sensitive self on a path of destruction that could decide both sides fate.
Elite Squadron on the PSP will support 16-player multiplayer while the DS will host up to four players in a variety of modes, including the new “Heroes and Villians” mode.

Playable characters from the Star Wars universe, include Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Kit Fisto, Darth Maul and a handful from Renegade Squadron and The Force Unleashed.

Sure this is old as all get out and Star Wars is better than Star Trek, but if you want your Garmin StreetPilot or Nuvi to sound like Scotty on the toilet you can download and install these Star Trek sounds at your leisure.
