The short version: A solid, compact WinMo smartphone that’s capable of a lot, but can’t really compete with the others on the market.
The Dash 3g is the successor to the Dash (obviously), which was a good phone back in the day, though limited by Windows Mobile as many phones are. The Dash 3G has its strengths, and shares some of its predecessor’s weaknesses, but more importantly, it doesn’t seem to offer any value compared with a Blackberry or G1 if you’re on T-Mobile — to say nothing of an iPhone or Pre.
Man, these leakers are cutting it close. The T559 Comeback is purportedly launching tomorrow, but it took up until yesterday for the information to really start pouring out – not that we’re complaining. Yesterday morning gave us product shots, but now we’ve got some specs to roll with.
Don’t call it a Comeback! Wait, no. That other one. Do call it a Comeback – because that’s what its called.
We saw this thing in all of its QWERTY-sliding meatiness way back in May, though we didn’t have a name for it then. With the purported July 15th launch date just days away and Samsung’s terrible leak track record, we’re surprised its taken this long for the product shots to get out.
Looking at a T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8520? You may want to hold off for a bit as it might be available soon in a full range of colors including silver instead of just black. Plus, we hear that the 8520 might be available in even more colors soon – think BlackBerry Pearl color options. CrackBerry is reporting that the silver color option will be available in early August and the other colors will come later down the road.
Poor Samsung. They can never keep any of their secrets. This time, images of the “Highlight” have been leaked to TmoNews. The 3G touch-screen devices looks similar to the Instinct s30 and features a 3.1-megapixel camera and GPS. Look for it to drop on July 15th.
A blurry little bird told us a few weeks back that the Dash 3G was incoming, probably for a July 1 release date. Everything in this fresh-out-of-the-oven press release seems to confirm that, so let’s all get together and have a tall glass of Dash this Independence Day.

T-Mobile USA announced today a new campaign dedicated to helping people save money on their wireless service, and the carrier is not only using the lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones as the face of the campaign again, they’re also giving a huge vote of confidence and a heap of exposure to Redwood City, CA-based startup BillShrink.
People can now visit the T-Mobile website or one of its retail stores for a so-called “Mobile Makeover”: free, unbiased and personalized savings recommendations for wireless plans, powered by BillShrink.
Praise jeebus! I knew this day was coming. Images of a purported T-Mobile 3G BlackBerry surfaced late last night, but it’s unclear whether it’s the rumored Onyx or Driftwood. If it is a T-Mobile device then it’s probably the Driftwood since it’s the only one that supposedly supports UMA. Contrary to what you see in the image, BGR says the Driftwood aka 9600 will have an optical trackpad and that it will drop some time in September.

Word on the street is HTC may be developing a netbook-type device for T-Mobile that’ll run the Android operating system. This is all per “an anonymous tipster” over at TmoToday.com, so take it all with a grain of salt.
Samsung tends to have a hard time keeping things secret, and T-Mobile’s pipes have been pretty leaky lately as well. Put the two together and the best plumber in the world couldn’t plug the holes.
Jeez, now that’s a leak: 1 little sheet of paper, 6 device launch dates, and 1 confirmation of a previously unannounced service.
We have absolutely no idea what’s going on with all those shady black boxes in this leaked T-mobile Android roadmap, so the whole things a little iffy to us.
CellPhoneSignal posted the image originally, though it only showed the Samsung Houdini and G2 launch dates you see up above. Just a few hours later, TmoToday posted the image with one more box uncovered, revealing the supposed G1 v.2 “Bigfoot”.
Now that I’ve had a few hours to get acquainted with the new Sidekick LX, I figured some preliminary comments were in order. My overall impression of the Sidekick LX is still positive, but I’ve found a few things to nitpick about. So, without further ado, here we gooooo!
Screen: It’s absolutely brilliant and hands down the best screen available on a mobile handset today. The closest thing to it right now is the BlackBerry 8900 and to some extent the BlackBerry Bold.
Keyboard: The Sidekick has always had the best QWERTY keyboard on the market and the 3G LX doesn’t falter one bit. Keys are bit harder than previous models, but I’m knocking out e-mails, IMs and text messages faster than I ever could on my BlackBerry. OMG, I’ve missed that dedicated row of numbers across the top.
The bird has landed. We just got our Sidekick LX review unit in and we’ll have a review soon, but figured you’d want to see the obligatory unboxing. Enjoy.
Apparently there were a few lucky people out there who go their Sidekicks a bit earlier then others, and one of them was kind enough to take some shots of an unboxing and share it on the intarwebs for all to see.
My G1 just rang with an unfamiliar 1-800 number. Uh oh, I thought, one of those singles lines I spend so much time on is trying to collect. I answered and after a second, a recorded voice said “Hi! This is a free call from T-Mobile to thank you for your loyalty.” It then repeated this message in Spanish and hung up.
Seriously?
After we snagged some info on the video capabilities of the new Sidekick LX yesterday we couldn’t help but ask for more info. And we sure got it. After the jump is sample video taken from the Sidekick LX as well as the startup screen, which was taken from a different device (which apparently refused to focus). We also have a few other hands-on shots and a sample image taken with the new LX.
If I was the FCC, I’d start my own gadget blog in light of the fact that I’d have first dibs to all the new gear. Er, wait…nevermind. Scratch that, stick to your federal duties and leave the blogging to us.
