Available today online and in stores on July 3 is the LG Dare. The latest device from LG has a 3-inch touchscreen with handwriting recognition, a 3.2-megapixel camera with face detection and LED flash. To be honest, those seem to be the major highlights for this device. Full specs after the jump. Oh, it’s priced at $199 after a $50 MIR and two-year contract.

The LG Decoy, which we’ve covered once or twice before is available today from Verizon Wireless. The Decoy has something other phone manufactures will soon copy, a built-in Bluetooth headset. The little headset docks on the back of the phone and is very discreet. So far this is the only phone to offer a feature like this.
The Decoy also features a snazzy 2.2-inch LCD screen, a 2-megapixel camera to capture stills and video, and support for Bluetooth 2.1. Like most new phones these days it has the ability to play music and other fun media. You can expand the memory up to 8 gigs with a microSD/SDHC card.
Enjoy Now for $179.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year agreement.

There it is! The Palm Centro for Verizon is available now for $99 after a MIR. What a pain in the ass.

A Dark Knight edition of the Nokia 6205 will be released this Sunday, June 15. You’ll only be able to grab it from verizonwireless.com.
Being that it’s a mass market movie tie-in, don’t expect too many high-end features; it’s more or less an entry-level cell. Like, when the camera is a whopping 1.3 megapixels, you should know exactly what type of phone this is.

If it’s in the WSJ then it must be true! Was there any doubt that Verizon would try and sell the Centro for more than $99? They’d be shooting themselves in the foot if they did.

Pearl Jam, known for its live bootlegs, has joined forces with Verizon Wireless, known for its stupid commercials. (That’s the best I got, sorry.) The band’s summer tour, which starts today in West Palm Beach, will be recorded in toto, and three songs from each performance will be available on Verizon Wireless, one for free and the the other two at “standard costs.”
You know who doesn’t like Pearl Jam? Matt Hickey. You should probably e-mail him with your disgust.
The rumors floating around yesterday are true. Verizon Wireless has just announced that they will be acquiring Alltel for $28.1 billion. The acquisition should be completed by year’s end. Full release after the jump.

I can’t even begin to tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this particular phone to reach the US. I was completely enamored with it, the F700, when I first saw the press release more than a year ago. This was back in February and then I finally got a chance to play with it in October when I was in Korea. I knew right then and there that I had to have it, but I wasn’t really willing to pay the exorbitant amount for an unlocked version from Europe. Then I caught wind of a CDMA variant that would be coming to the US. I was told it would probably be announced sometime before the end of 2007, but we all know that didn’t happen.
So I have before me the u940, which has been redubbed the Glyde. Do I love it? Yes. Do I hate it? Yes. Read More

It’s official. Review coming shortly. I hate when embargoes get broken. Quick spec list after the jump.

I was told it would be available on the 9th, which was I told you the other day, but it looks like Verizon decided to let it loose a couple days early. It’s also cheaper than expected. It’s $220 with a $100 online rebate, but there’s also a $50 mail-in rebate bringing the grand total to $170. That’s not as cheap as AT&T’s current deal of $99, but it’s cheaper than T-Mobile’s $250 tag.

Just a quick note for Verizon Wireless subscribers itching to get their hands on the BlackBerry Curve. The 8330 that was announced at CTIA will be available on May 9 on the Internet and in Verizon Wireless business channels; May 12 in all Verizon Wireless Communications stores. It will retail for $269.99 after a $50 rebate.

LG’s latest variation of its popular enV, the enV2, will be available starting tomorrow for $129.99. The horizontal flip is diminutive in size, but packs a decent amount of features such as a full QWERTY, 2-megapixel camera with video recording capability, 2.4-inch internal screen, Stereo Bluetooth, and music player among others. The enV2 comes in black or maroon.
The HTC Touch is now available through Verizon Wireless, although it’s called the XV6900 which we can all agree sounds much, much cooler.
It’ll set you back $299 for the device itself and then you’ll enjoy paying at least $80 per month for data service and 450 anytime minutes, which you might find to be an absurd amount for voice and data service. I know I do. Oh, you can also use your new XV6900 as a modem for your laptop. That’s another $15 per month. Oh, and only for 5GB of data. After that you’ll pay 49 cents per megabyte in overage charges.
But hey, someone’s gotta pay the hundreds and hundreds of “actors” union wages to follow the Verizon Guy around in all those commercials.

Verizon Wireless wants you to know, paying customer, that it’s got your back. All that spectrum it won last month? It’s totally going to use it to “further [its] broadband strategy.” I do wonder if *its* strategy will be good for *us* or just another money grab.
For those of you bored at your desk this Friday afternoon, VZW just posted a powerfully worded PowerPoint presentation (PDF) on its future business strategy. The sentence “Verizon is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the data opportunity” appears on nearly every slide. It’s that old marketing trick: if you keep saying something eventually people will accept it as fact.

It’s old, but I wanted to take pics of it.

Look how big I made this photo of the BlackBerry Curve!
It’s one of five sorta new handsets that’ll be available on the Verizon network in the not too distant future. Let’s run through them all one by one, shall we?

File this away in your “Meh” folder if you like but Verizon Wireless is offering 50MB of EVDO data for $39.99 a month. That might work for some people, but I’d think it’d be pretty easy to blast through 50MB and, according to MobileBurn.com, going over will cost a cool 99 cents per megabyte. If you’ve got no better uses for $40 and just need to hop online in a few remote locations every month, maybe this would be a good option for you versus VZW’s $59.99 5GB plan.

Looks like Verizon Wireless was the high bidder in the C-block with $4.74 billion. That gives them control over the airspace being left by television broadcasters who are moving from analog to digital.
AT&T appears to have won 227 licenses from the B-block. Details on this to come as we get them.

Somewhere underneath the giant PHONE ARENA watermark is the latest LG phone destined for your local Verizon Wireless store, the LG VX9700. It’s supposed to be VZW’s Prada-less Prada, complete with fancy touchscreen and bubbly UI. It’s supposed to be available by the end of the month, but last-minute delays may push it back into April or May.
Y’all can look forward (?) to a 3.2-megapixel camera (for taking pictures!), microSDHC, T9, etc. etc. It’s all about the touchscreen, obviously.
Honestly, I liked the look of the Prada more than the iPhone, but now I’m set on either an Android-based phone or iPhone v2. I’m really liking the idea of an OSS cellphone.
