Why carriers love recycling old models from other carriers is beyond me. Especially when said old models suck so hard like LG’s Voyager. The Vu is a much better device though; it’s not that great, either. However, the Voyager has done commercially well selling over 1.1 million units since November. And now they’re bringing it to AT&T and Sprint or so says an LG official.

“iPhone is being supplied through AT&T, the largest carrier in the US. But, Voyaer is being supplied through Verizon, the second largest carrier in the US. 

Considering the fact, Voyager is making a surprising result. We plan to expand the supply of Voyager to AT&T and Sprint within this year. That will lay the strong foundation for LG in the North American market.”

I don’t have access to a Voyager at the moment and I’m not sure if this was apart of the firmware upgrade that went out last month. Can any Voyager owners comment? K. Thx.

The LG Voyager’s firmware has been upgraded. Know what doesn’t need to be upgraded? The girl’s pony from the Verizon commercials. I wonder how she’s doing with her new pony, besides being an ungrateful brat that wants a cell phone instead of a pony. She probably asked for both and then just started pouting when she only got a pony. So the pony bites and you’re obviously getting too old for a pony, who the hell cares? You have your own pony!

Anyway, the firmware improves battery life, Bluetooth connections, and includes some enhancements to the web browser as well as fixing a bunch of little glitches here and there. Has anyone upgraded this phone and would you care to share your experience with the rest of the group? If you want to upgrade your phone, you’ll have to take it to your neighborhood Verizon location. Tell them Doug from CrunchGear sent you — that oughta be interesting.

As you may recall, I was a bit harsh on the Voyager a while back and I really hate when I have to take things I say back. The Voyager has come a long way since the VX9800 and improves over the enV thanks to the touchscreen. I could go on and bash the Verizon UI, but I’m tired, have no idea what time zone I’m in and it’s just not worth it. Is the Voyager a good phone? Yes. Is it *gasp* an iPhone killer? Heck if I know. I’m not in the business of comparing every damn phone with some touch screen functionality to the iFone like every other douche out there. Now that we’ve gotten over that awkward stage let’s get on with the show.

The Voyager is the one on the right

Well, it’s been a few weeks since I last saw the LG Voyager and I have to admit that it’s way better than I originally thought. Maybe it was the lighting and the lack of time I had with the device, but I sort of like it now. The touchscreen is pretty responsive and it’s way lighter than you’d think considering its size. Expect a full review next week, but here are a few quick thoughts to ponder. The camera seems to have AF, but I haven’t had checked the specs so it could just be something wonky Verizon/LG threw on there. Picture quality is great from the few tests shots I had and the speakers are very good. The UI is simple to navigate. I don’t particularly like that I have use the side lock button to lock the phone (the orange button on the side). I really like that I can jump from one screen to the next without applications or menus being refreshed. So far so good. More pics after the jump.

Although the device really isn’t much of an iPhone, it’s still very feature-rich with its VCAST Live TV, EV-DO and a touchscreen. 16th? We’ve heard mumblings that the Voyager is dropping on the 18th for about $250 with a possible preorder beginning on the 8th, but we heard from the horse’s mouth that it should drop on the 16th. We’re not sure on the price, but we’re confident on the date. We’ll see how it pans out, though.

The Voyager is so awesome, your hand will tremble in fear

Oh you heard right my friends. You better watch the hell out come this Autumn, ’cause Verizon has a phone coming out that is going to show that iPhone who’s boss. According to Verizon’s Wireless CMO, the Voyager is not only the “best” phone, but it’s also going to “kill the iPhone”. Strong words!

Goddamn, are you serious? Between the HTML browser and ability to play MP3s, I don’t even know where to start. I am seriously beyond impressed. In fact, with the ability to have up to 8GB of storage via shitty microSD cards, I don’t think the iPhone has a chance. After all, what says “competition” more than some ugly-ass brick on a CDMA network? Oh yeah, CDMA phones. Real GSM killers. That’s like saying the rooster on the Corn Flakes box could kick the shit out of Cap’n Crunch.

Face it. Loving Star Trek is about as dorky as a dork can get. But one Star Trek fan had the last laugh when he sold his one bedroom flat for more than five times the market value. Tony Alleyne sold his home that he transformed into the deck of the starship Voyager for a staggering $843,242 or £425,000.

As you would imagine, transforming your bachelor pad into a flight deck is not an easy (or cheap) task. Tony spent nearly £30,000 and eight-hours a day for two years working on the project. When completed, he went and did what any shrewd businessman would do: he sold it on eBay. Tony hasn’t announced his next project, but a Pirate-themed home would be pretty badass to say the least.
