It’s pretty obvious that you guys have interests outside of tech and gadgets just like the crew at CG. Yes, we’re deeply in love with our gadgetry, but we like to nerd out over other things, too. Or maybe it’s just me. I, for one, will be playing a slew of videogames including Battlefield 1943 (Xbox 360), King of Fighters XII (PS3), Pac-Man (PS3), Prototype (Xbox 360) and G-Force (Xbox 360).
I will also be catching up on some reading, like Robert Kirkman’s Invincible and McFarlane’s Spawn. I picked up Tyrese Gibson’s Mayhem and it was pretty boring. I’m on the fence about Avatar’s Absolution, too. I should probably finish catching up on DC’s Blackest Night series as well.
Take a close look at the box on the right. It’s an Xbox 360 Arcade, but one that only mentions the Arcade and Elite models. The implication, of course, is that Microsoft is phasing out the Pro model.
The latest update to the Xbox 360 dashboard comes out next week (August 11), a few more details of what to expect have surfaced. More movies, more Avatar accessories, downloadable Xbox 360 games, etc. Looks to be good stuff for those of you who actually use the Dashboard.
Clever users with the beta of the new Xbox 360 NXE-thing have noticed something: the size of game installs on the hard drive have decreased. So, good news for those of you with smaller hard drives. (I’m still kicking about with the old school 20GB hard drive. I soldier on.)
Losing sleep over rumors that Gearbox may be working on a Halo title for the Xbox 360? Rest easy, friend. 343 Industries byway of HaloWaypoint’s Twitter account announced that Gearbox is not working on a Halo title for Microsoft.
THQ, fresh off winning a whole bunch of dollars at the expense of toy maker Jakks Pacific re: WWE video games, said yesterday that Microsoft’s Project Natal will launch “late next year.” And if you believe that…
“There was a boy tending the sheep who would continually go up to the embankment and shout, ‘Help, there’s a wolf!’ The farmers would all come running only to find out that what the boy said was not true. Then one day there really was a wolf but when the boy shouted, they didn’t believe him and no one came to his aid. The whole flock was eaten by the wolf.”
Bungie has said that Halo: Reach will be the last Halo game it works on for the Xbox 360.

News from the East. It looks like Microsoft is all set to produce Project Natal-equipped Xbox 360s by the second half of 2010. Might as well circle your calendar. California-based Aptina will produce the 1.3-megapixel CMOS sensor required to get Project Natal up and running. (That’s it. Don’t click “Read More” because there isn’t more.)

We’ll have to wait for the next update to get Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Zune Video and 1080p Instant On. That is all.
I don’t quite see the appeal of Epic and Chair’s upcoming XBLA title Shadow Complex that was announced at E3, but I guess it’s because I think of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament whenever Epic comes up. Nevertheless, August 19th is fast approaching and Epic revealed the achievements today. Hit the jump for the latest gameplay trailer and the 12 achievements for Shadow Complex.

Movie licensed games have generally sucked something fierce. Very rarely are any of them ever any good, and the same goes for movies based on videogames. Something gets lost in translation. Development is typically rushed to coincide with simultaneous launches, and gamers are the ones who suffer the most. There are a few diamonds in the rough (X-Men Origins: Wolverine was pretty good), but they’re few and far between. Activision and Luxoflux’s adaption of the second Transformers cinematic masterpiece falls somewhere in between.
Patents, patents as far as the eye can see. Today’s is from Microsoft, a small start-up based in Redmond, Washington. It shows some sort of camera system for third-person shooters, something that CVG is already rumor-calling it “Natal’s first shooter.”
